Just Believe

Hi All
I hope that you have survive Friday 13th without too many mishaps. Apart from nearly falling flat on my face as I entered work this morning I have managed to get through it intact.
One of my new purchases in 2014 was a beautiful and very delicate die by Memorybox.
I love Silhouette stamps as you know, so this die just called me. I had to have it, but what to do with it?
You know how it goes, I am ashamed to say that I have loads of stamps and dies like that. Have to have them, but don't know what to do with them once they are mine lol.

I felt that it needed to be layered over some sort of background, so once again I reached for my stash of Gelli Plate / Creative Palette papers.

I chose a pinky/purple one and then sponged and stamped over the top of it using Hobby Art and Stampendous stamps and Distress inks.

The sentiment is also from Hobby Art and I have added some faux stitching using a micron pen and ruler,

along with some stripy purple Card Candi.
I used Glossy Accents to attach the die cut, although I bought a new product at Davina's last time I was there which I need to try out. It is supposed to make fiddly die cuts very easy to stick down. So I will have to give it a try and let you know.

Good Luck its Time to Relax

Evening Everyone,
Well the release of 50 shades of Grey was quite the topic of conversation at work today..
I begin to think that I must be about the only person who hasn't read the book. Perhaps I should have borrowed it from my Mum when I visited her this evening lol.

As promised, here is the end result of all the chaos on my workdesk that I shared with you yesterday.

The card was made to give to our Area Manager who has just left us to go on Maternity leave as she is expecting Twins!!
She has two boys already, and was not planning any more, so this has come as a bit of a shock.

I used a piece of background from my Gelli Plate stash and the fabulous Huge Good Luck stamp from Woodware. The letters were paper pieced using coordinating pieces of card.

I hope that she follows the advise of the sentiment, and relaxes before the arrival of her new little bundles in a  couple of months time.
She has promised to bring them for a visit, and cuddles, once they have put in an appearance.
I had better get a Congratulations card ready it will be May before we know it.

Whats on your Workdesk Wednesday

Evening All
Have you had a busy day? I have.
As today is Wednesday I have decided to share a picture of my work desk.

I'm actually cheating slightly as this picture was taken last Wednesday, but I'm afraid that it is no tidier this week than it was last. If anything it is probably worse lol.
I think I must have cleared up a little bit, because this looks remarkably clear compared to most of the time. I am constantly loosing things under piles of paper, stamps and dies.

As you can see the TV 'clicker' is never far from reach. I do have to have background when I'm crafting, and there is bound to be a coffee cup in there somewhere as well.
I will try and share the results of all this mess over the next couple of days, but I have had trouble loading some pictures onto my laptop.
You would be very proud of me given how rubbish I am with technology. I thought thay had gone forever, but I have managed to find them, it is just taking me a while to move them to where I can edit them.
Wow I sound like I know what I'm doing don't I. Don't be fooled it was sheer luck :O)

Wishing you a Lifetime of Love

Evening Everyone,
Well I managed to get up in time for work this morning, AND I got my card finished for the Boss, so all is good.

Of course just how tired I am won't hit me properly till tomorrow, although I do confess to a small 'Granny Nap' this afternoon lol.
Here finally is my card for the latest challenge over at CCM&More, where Lorraine would like to see Love themed creations. So lots of Love, Love, Love be it Valentines, Wedding, Engagement or just plain love and romance.

My card could be made for a Wedding or an Anniversary and uses some of the new stamps from Woodware.

The background has been created using a lovely Dreamweaver Stencil which I dry embossed in my Cuttlebug and then brushed with Distress inks while the stencil was still in place.

 

The sentiment is also from another new Woodware stamp set, stamped, embossed, die cut and layered using Nesties.

Finishing touches are a ribbon bow, pearls and a stamped, embossed and fussy cut heart.

Congratulations

Evening Everyone,
We started a new challenge over at Crafty Cardmakers and More today, so I'm sorry to disappoint you if arrived here to look at my DT card.
I'm afraid that time has got away from me again.
I have had a last minute card to make for my Boss, and we have a stock take tomorrow which means that I have to start work at 5am.

This is not a totally unrelated post however as I have finally sent the December winners parcel.
It seems such a long time ago since I organised the prize way before Christmas, so once the winner was announced I simply forgot all about it.
Really sorry Diane, I hope that you enjoy it when it finally arrives.

Plenty of Bamboo

Evening All,
Another weekend finished all too quickly. I'm not sure whether I have successfully finished things or not. I have this nagging feeling that I have forgotten something very important.
Oh well I guess I will soon find out what it is when someone starts shouting at me lol.

These are a few birthday cards that I finished a couple of weeks ago.

I told you that I was determined not to add any more things to my bits box, so these were all made with left overs from my last Resist with a twist class.

I just love this Bamboo stamp from Hero Arts, and so I did get a little bit carried away.

The cards are all made using Distress inks and both first and second generation stamping as well as a little spritzing with water and even an embossing folder.

Playing with Tim Holtz

Hi All,
I've been playing with Tim Holtz this evening, well one of his Embossing folders at least.
Having sifted through Pinterest for some extra ideas for my Resist with a Twist class this afternoon, I also found a couple of cards using a Tim Holtz embossing folder that just inspired me to play.

The background to this first card has been created using an Embossing folder, background paper with text on it, Versamark ink, clear embossing powder and Glimmer Mists

I guess that I really will have to do some steps for this, but as I never know what I'm going to do till I start playing, that may take some time.

This second card was created in a very similar manner, but with the addition of some Distress Inks.

I'm really pleased with how they turned out, and I think that they will make good cards for men, so I'm sure that I will be playing with this technique again.
I will just have to remember to have my camera to hand next time.

Pretty in Pink

Evening Everyone
Welcome to the weekend,I hope that you have had a good day.

I feel like I have spent the day working with a bunch of Muppet's, serving some of the rudest customers in the world, but hey ho as I said it's Friday, and tomorrow is another day.

I often get requests from work mates for a card, usually with five minutes notice, oh and by the way I need to post it to Sri Lanka / India / Pakistan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At least I had a little more notice for this card made for the 2 year old daughter of one such colleague.

I really don't know where I would be without my Lili of the Valley topper. I would love to be able to practise my colouring but I'm afraid that there really are not enough hours in the day, so I cheat, but what  a wonderful way to do it.

The sentiments are also from Lili of the Valley, stamped and embossed onto Kraft card and coloured using my trusty Stardust pen and White Wink of Stella.

The borders are DooHickey dies and the papers are from my stash. They match rather perfectly I think.

The flowers and leaves are also DooHickey dies with a lovely sparkly Glitter Dome in the centre.

Teaching tomorrow, so that will be fun, nothing like work at all.

Trees and Alcohol inks for Men

Evening Everyone
I don't know about you, but there always seems to be some months that are very 'Birthday Heavy'.
Well for me February is one of those, and there seem to be quite a few Men's cards to send.

 Here are a few that I made with one of Jane Gills lovely tree stamp sets, always good for men's cards.

They all make use of backgrounds made using Alcohol inks.
I have used the alcohol inks on glossy card stock for the first two cards.

 The next ones use Alcohol ink on acetate, which of course makes them very hard to photograph.

I even tried outside, which was no more successful.
I hope that you like them. I certainly had fun making them and at least I now have one or two left in my stash for later in the month.
Better find some addresses and get the next batch ready for the postman. Or at least my friend Kevin who comes in for his paper every morning. His work is right next to a postbox so he is quite used to me asking him to act as postie for me.

Happy Birthday Dad

Evening Everyone,
Today would have been the birthday of a very special man in my life, my Dad.

I still miss him even after 13 years. and even though I can't send a card to him, I like to send one to my lovely Mum just to let her know that I am thinking of her.

This was made with a piece of background from my Gelli Plate stash

and a beautiful Memory Box die that I purchased on one of my visits to SirStampalot.

I have also added lots of stamping to the background with an assortment of stamps.

A Snow Day

Evening Everyone,
Well the snow that they have been predicting for my neck of the woods finally put in an appearance this morning.
It's still a shock to the system isn't it, although at least it felt a little bit warmer, even if only for a short while.
The roads of course were in chaos, though why it is that we seem unable to cope in England.
I bet all you lovely people in the USA and Canada have taken any snow in your stride, we on the other hand lol.
Oh well perhaps I will share a few of the quick Christmas cards that I made last year to go with the snow.
They have all been made using Decorating Chalk, Versamark ink and an assortment of stamps.

  

I haven't made a very good start to my Christmas card pile so far this year, although fortunately I did have quite a few left over from last year.                                                                                                                                
Let's hope that everything doesn't freeze tonight or it will be quite lethal under foot tomorrow.
I do hope that we don't get any more snow, although there will be lots of disappointed people who would like to stay at home for a 'Snow Day'.
Unfortunately that is the major disadvantage to living so close to work, they wouldn't believe me if I said that I was snowed in and couldn't get there lol.
