Chalked Agapanthus

Evening,

In any stamp range there is always one design that seems to become a firm favourite.

That was definitely the case with the fabulous agapanthus stamps from Stampendous.

I used versamark ink and decorating chalks to create a soft stamped panel,

which I chopped up and then matched with some Bazzill cardstock and vellum.

As well as the single flower head, there was also this spray. Definitely in my all time favourite stamp selection.

I added various sentiments, peel-offs and card strips to finish these cards.

Countdown to Christmas - Day 2

Evening,

We had a light sprinkling of snow in our neck of the woods this morning. As far as I'm concerned that's enough of that for the year lol.

So here are a couple of small Christmas cards made using some chalked panels and pieces from my bits box.

I also added some faux stitching,

and some tiny gems or peels-offs.

Let's hope that the weather ignores the sentiment on the cards, I really don't want it to snow.

Chalked Florals

Evening,

I hope that you have had a lovely weekend. Mine has been a nice crafty one, with classes on Saturday, and then finishing off bits and pieces from previous projects. I still have loads to wade through, but at least I've made a start.

So if I am ever going to catch back up with all the cards that I need to share with you, I had better get a move on.

Probably one of my all time favourite classes involves Decorators Chalks,

and nothing works better with them than these fabulous solid image stamps from Hero Arts.

Very old, and wood mounted, but I just love the panels that you can create with them.

Some, like this one have a stamp with the postitive image available, as well as the negative square.

As you can see I like to use the two images together before adding them to my cards.

I also like to add a stamped and chalked border.

This can also be done using a torn paper mask and some peel-offs.

Well that's a few removed from the huge pile of cards under the bed lol. Let's see if I can share a few more tomorrow.

Inchies

Evening,

Just a quick post tonight. I'm back at work tomorrow after a couple of days spent catching up with a few crafty projects.

So here are a couple of cards made a long time ago using an Inkadinkadoo Inches stamp and some chalks.

I managed to find a couple of pieces of background paper in my stash that matched rather nicely and I also added some stamped and embossed bamboo on this one.

Birthday Florals

Evening All,

Another successful day of crafty play. Now I just need to get everything parceled up and popped in the post.

Here are another couple of cards made recently after the class on Chalks.

I had so many bits and pieces to finish off that these were originally consigned to the bin, but I decided to give them a reprieve, and am glad that I did.

They were only small pieces of chalked background made years ago, but it did seem a shame to throw them out.

I keep a box of black die cut floral elements which seemed perfect for these two projects.

Chalked Thanks

Hi All,

Many years ago I was lucky enough to be involved in writing articles for several different crafting magazines.

One of these involved creating a box of cards as a Thank You gift.

I chose to use a combination of Decorating Calks, Versamark and Vellum.

I used a variety of stamps including ones from Impression Obsession and Hero Arts.

I stamped the images onto the cardstock or vellum using the Versamark ink pad, and then added Decorating Chalks using a cotton wool ball. 

I also added some stamped and embossed sentiments and even a few white inked sentiments as well.

I still have the box of cards from the article, although the box has become a little battered over the years, so I decided to repurpose it by turning the lid into a further square card,

and the sides of the lid into strips across these smaller cards.

The kraft coloured sentiments on them are from Stamps by Me, and are actually wide Washi Tape with a co-ordinating die so that you can cut out a heap of them all at the same time........very useful.

I'm on extra babysitting detail today as Becki's child care has let her down. It's a shame it is so miserable today so we will be stuck in doors for most of it. Still, we will be backwards and forwards to the school for drop offs and pickups, so I'm sure that there will be plenty of puddles for them to jump in. They are all busy playing at the moment, so I snuck in the chance to write my post a little earlier than usual.

Floral Thanks

Evening Everyone,

What on earth has happened to the summer? I can't believe how chilly it has felt today. Much more like October than August in my humble opinion lol.

While prepping for my Chalk class on Saturday, I came across several cards that I had already stamped with a large Thank You text stamp.

I obviously had something in mind when I stamped them, but I can't for the life of me remember what, so they seemed perfect as a backdrop for some chalked floral images.

I do love all the fabulous colours that you can achieve with chalks, and they work particularly well with this solid type of image. I added a bold die cut sentiment to stand out from the background.

As I told you I make a tag for the class, and this was what I created as my visual reminder of what to do with chalks.

I need an early night tonight as I start my week of babysitting and school runs tomorrow. I can see that I will probably need a week off to recover lol.

Chalking in Blues

Evening Everyone,

Thank goodness it's Friday, it's been a VERY long week with several ridiculously early starts, so I am really looking forward to class tomorrow where I can relax and have fun with friends.

Here are another couple of cards from my book that use Decorating Chalks. I do love using them on vellum. The only challenge with that is how to attach it to the card. Wrapping it around the card to hid the tape is one way, or covering up the tape with another card panel or gems is another alternative.

I fussy cut a few extra flowers to add to this card and then added some gems.

I can see that I will have to add a sentiment to this one to cover up where the gem is missing. I doubt that I will be able to match it after all these years, so hiding it is the next best thing.

A Blast from the Past

Evening All,

We will be playing with Decorators Chalks on Saturday, so here are a few cards made using them.

I was definitely having an orange phase when I made this, which is not my usual colour at all.

I featured chalks in my stamping book, published in 2006 would you believe!!

I think it was actually the chapter that I was most pleased with, and I persuaded them to feature it on the front cover.

Amazingly I still have most of the cards that I made for the book, so I dug them out as inspiration for Saturdays class.

I don't remember where the colour combo came from, but I love all the samples that I did.

I used a combination of card and vellum for the samples. 

Having sorted through all of my wood mounted stamps recently they are now more easily accessible, so I will be able to take a lot of these ones with me to class.

I do love the solid images that Hero Arts and Penny Black favour. I am always drawn to them in any new release.

Another stupidly early start tomorrow, so I'm off to bed.

Happy Anniversary in Chalks

 Evening All,

Just a quick post tonight. I got a bit carried away with the card making, and I still have cards that I need to get ready to post tomorrow, so I can see it being a late night.

This is an anniversary card created using decorating chalks, patterned vellum and some ribbon.

I've used an old Hero Arts Shadow stamp for the background with pale chalks and then stamped the floral images over the top and covered them in darker colours.

Another one for the ever growing class list I think. I can't wait to be able to play with the 'Crafties'

Better finish those inserts before I get to bed.

Snow through the Trees

Evening,

Snow is very pretty when you are tucked up warm and snug indoors, but it's not so much fun as you slip and slide your way to work lol.

Of course on the plus side even at 3.45am it was as bright and clear as daylight where normally I have to use a torch to see by.

It's been snowing here fairly consistently for the last couple of days so it is still at the pretty stage, although it had started to turn to grey slush on the roads by the time I was heading home from work.

So lets have a couple of black and white Christmas cards.

These are made using a fabulous old Penny Black stamp, versamark, and decorators chalks applied with a cotton wool ball.

These last two were made with another Penny Black stamp, even older than the first!!

Once again I used decorators chalks, this time in pinks and blues.

I'm afraid that I'm a bit of a killjoy when it comes to the snow cause I rather hope that it is gone by tomorrow.
