Plenty of Peel-offs

Evening everyone,
I can't believe how hot it still is here.
The lights in my room are a bit like the Blackpool illuminations. Perfect for crafting, but boy do they feel like they chuck out some heat. Not very good in this current climate so I have tried to manage without switching them on today. It is turning into a bit of a challenge now, so it is definitely time to call it a night.
It is getting very close to the end of the school year and with that comes the Teacher Thank you cards.
I made quite a few last year, which I never got around to posting on the blog, so that seems a good place to start.
We had a fabulous class one Saturday which made use of handmade background papers and peel-offs.
So I used up quite a few bits and pieces to create these cards.
Some of the backgrounds use Glimmer Mist sprays and cling film which give a beautiful subtle shimmer,
and others use much brighter background created using glossy card stock and reinkers.
I have used bleach on all of them to paint parts of the main images.
The background to most of the cards has been created by using a large stamped sentiment and pale blue/grey ink.
On this card I added the peel-off direct to the card and coloured the image in using Sparkle pens.
Most of the cards got used up during the year so I will have to make some more for this year, but not tonight cause I can't see what I'm doing lol.
Happy Sunday

Sorry You Are Not Feeling Your Best

Morning Everyone,
Just a quick post today to cheer up anyone who is not feeling their best, for what ever reason.
The background was made when I was playing with my Gelli Plate.
I didn't like the colour combo that I used, but I didn't want to waste it so I sponged over the top with dye based inks.
The stamping has been done with a black versafine inkpad and clear embossing powder.

I sprinkled the panel with what I thought was water, but turned out to be Glimmer  Mist so it has added splodges, rather than taking colour out.

Never mind I rather like what I ended up with.
It is amazing how things change when you start to play. The trouble is that I never seem to be able to throw anything away because I might be able to do something with it later lol.
The sentiment is from Hobby Art and is perfect when you need a card for someone who is not ill as such, but is just not feeling up to par.
I have layered this over a couple of pieces of ribbon.
So I hope that this will cheer you up if you are not feeling your best. I know of a couple of people that I could have sent this to this week.
Have a good Sunday, and I hope that you are all feeling better soon.

Tone on Tone at Woodware

Hi All
Over at the Woodware blog this week they are looking for Tone on Tone, and it is my turn to share as I am standing in for the lovely Pam who is recovering from a rather nasty car accident.
I stamped and embossed one of Jane Gill's fabulous stamps onto a piece of kraft coloured card and then painted the image with cheap thin bleach.
I then added a little more colour by painting with brown dye based ink and my trusty 700 sparkle pen.
I also added some glossy accents and tiny dots.
The background to the card has been created using one of the new Dutch DooBaDoo Stencils Pop Art, run through my Ebosser and then sponged, brushed and spritzed with more dye based ink, gilding wax and glimmer spray.
I added some wide organza ribbon and some nailheads.
It needed a sentiment so I created a piece of background by stamping with bleach and then added the sentiment on top of it.
Why not check out what the rest of the Girls have posted this week.
Bye for now.

Click your Heels Dorothy

Evening Everyone.
Another fabulous class at Davina's today, very quite though, they were all colouring in.
I took along an assortment of stamps including this fabulous shoe from Stampendous. How I wish I could still wear something like this, it is awesome.
I spent many years walking everywhere in 4inch heels. Backwards and forwards to the school three or four times a day with the children, most of the time pushing either a double buggy or a wheelchair. And now I can't even manage court shoes for more than an hour. The joys of getting older lol.
I coloured the image with a combination of Watercolour Pearlex and some red ink. I also added some glossy accents which I was too impatient to let dry before I took these pictures :O)
I sorted through my stash of bits to find some things that would go with the 'Steampunk' feel of the card and these were the best I could do.
The background has been made using a Dreamweaver Stencil, Gold Brilliance ink and some Gold Embossing Powder.
I also sponged the panel with Distress inks and then spritzed over it with a couple of Glimmer Mists. I covered the whole panel with scrunched up cling film and left it to dry which gave added texture to the background.
It is a shame that I didn't get to finish this earlier in the week as it would have been an ideal advertisement for the fabulous Making Texture Collaboration blog hop that has been going on between Stampendous/Woodware/Dreamweaver.
So many fabulous ideas using items produced by three fabulous companies.
Don't forget to change your clocks.
One hour less sleep tonight, now that is definitely something I could do without.
Still I suppose it shows that Spring is finally with us.
Get a good nights sleep. See you again tomorrow.

Gelli Plate and Glimmer Mists

Evening Everyone,
What a day to go back to work. It was absolutely chucking it down this morning when I left.
I have to say that I am very glad to have been working inside, not a good day to be outside. And it would have been even better to have been able to stay in bed. Never mind.
Among my new acquisitions last week was a Large Round Gelli Plate.
Fabulous for making backgrounds to be used with my large Circular Nesties.
This particular piece of background was made using the Gelli Plate, some Glimmer Mists (another new purchase) and some Woodware stamps.
I spritzed the Glimmer Mists directly onto the Gelli Plate and then 'smooshed' a piece of cream card onto it.
Unfortunately it is not easy to capture all the beautiful shimmer that you get.
I have lots more pieces of background to use up so I can see lots more Circular cards coming up lol.
Bye for now.

Window Feathers

Evening Everyone,
Hasn't it been beautiful today? We even had to have the doors open in class today as the room got so hot.
I remembered to take the cake with me, in fact there were several others provided so I'm sure that we all came away a few pounds heavier lol.
Today's class was 'Window Cards' as inspired by a tutorial posted quite some time ago by my lovely friend  Mynnette on her Technique Time Tuesday blog.
Unfortunately the blog has now closed, but all the techniques and tutorials are still there for everyone to see.
I also looked through Pinterest for some extra ideas, and that is where I found the inspiration for this card.
I die cut the feathers from a piece of white card stock and then layered the trimmed panel over a Penny Black stamp.......................
.....................4271L Winter Ledge.
I sponged dye based ink over the stamped and embossed image before attaching it to my card.
The die cut panel was placed over this using Silicon which also gave the panel extra dimension.
I spritzed the blue card stock with Glimmer Mist, and added some Card Candi.
I found several other ideas that would work well with this stamp so I will have to see if I can get anything else finished off tomorrow.
Bye for now.

Spring Flowers

Evening Everyone,
Have you had a good start to the week?
It is my turn to share something on the Hobby Art blog today, so I thought that I would show you a card that I made for one of Jenni's shows on Create and Craft.
I don't know about you, but my DT cards are often influenced by the classes or other projects that I am working on at the time, and this is no exception.
I was prepping for a class on Tea and Coffee, a current favourite of mine, when my parcel arrived so that is what I have used here.
I stamped and embossed the beautiful Floral Frame onto a piece of background paper made using cold tea and instant coffee.
I also used coffee to paint the image and added white using a Gelli Roll glaze pen.
I have also spritzed the papers with more coffee and some Glimmer Mist.
I have a new parcel of stamps from Jenni eagerly awaiting my attention so I had better get on with it.
Have a great week,
Hugs Kimx

Playing with Tim Holtz

Hi All,
I've been playing with Tim Holtz this evening, well one of his Embossing folders at least.
Having sifted through Pinterest for some extra ideas for my Resist with a Twist class this afternoon, I also found a couple of cards using a Tim Holtz embossing folder that just inspired me to play.
The background to this first card has been created using an Embossing folder, background paper with text on it, Versamark ink, clear embossing powder and Glimmer Mists

I guess that I really will have to do some steps for this, but as I never know what I'm going to do till I start playing, that may take some time.
This second card was created in a very similar manner, but with the addition of some Distress Inks.

I'm really pleased with how they turned out, and I think that they will make good cards for men, so I'm sure that I will be playing with this technique again.
I will just have to remember to have my camera to hand next time.
Happy Stamping and Hugs

Happy Birthday Rithika

Hi All
Another wet and miserable day here, so lets throw a little sunshine on the proceedings with this card that I made for my Boss's daughter. At least it made him smile, and her too.
With everything that has been going on at work just lately Sega forgot to speak to me about making a card, but as his daughters are written into my birthday planner I made one over the weekend so as not to be caught out like last year.
The main image is a Lili of the Valley topper, die cut using a circular Grand Nestie.
I added some faux stitching and then mounted it onto purple card stock die cut using my favourite Go Create die.
The main background is a piece of white card which has been dry embossed with dye based ink on the folder before running it through the machine. It has also been spritzed with assorted Glimmer Mists.
The sentiments are all from Lili of the Valley, but her name has been spelt with die cut letters.
The die cut leaves match the stamped images on the purple card stock and are by Penny Black.
Today has seen more rain fall, although fortunately no where near the cyclone levels that they forecast. Long may their predictions be wrong I say :O)
People have still been driving though like lunatics with no care for anyone else. They also appear to be oblivious to the police presence.
I actually witnessed a driver continue to drive through the flood water despite the policeman standing in front of him with his arm raised telling him to stop. There was quite a cheer when the police officer pulled him over and gave him a ticket lol.
Oh well lets see what tomorrow brings.
