Best of Luck with Background Dies

Hello again,

I don't know what it has been like where you are, but it has been the perfect weather for crafting here........windy and pouring with rain.

We woke up this morning to torrential rain, bins blown over and broken glass from the old greenhouse strewn around the garden. It's been too wet and windy to clear it up today especially since it is not in danger of hurting anyone. Besides which it's still blowing a gale so I might as well do the clean-up all in one go

So instead of cleaning today, I have been playing with my background dies in preparation for a crafty get together on Saturday.

I have loads of larger background dies so it has been great fun trying to find lots of different things that you can do with them.
We all like to get more out of our supplies, especially when they are a little more expensive, like the larger style dies.
Here I have used my die with a rubber mat to create an embossed background rather than a die cut panel.
Same design, just different colourway.
I used the embossed panel across the card and then added a die cut floral image,
and a die cut sentiment which I covered with Glossy Accents.
I'm not seeing much let up in the weather here, so I can see more playtime in my future.
The physio came to see Mum again today, and while he is delighted with her progress, he has encouraged her to walk around the house at least every 60 - 90 minutes. I have been letting her do things for herself much more over the last few days, so we have agreed that I will just go in and nag her if she hasn't got up and walked around in the allotted time. It seems so harsh, but at least she agrees that it is for her own good.
Of course it will be much more difficult if I am out of the house for any length of time. You know yourself how easy it is to just sit and sleep when there is no-one else around, so I may have to rope in the rest of the family to take over on the nagging front at those times..........thank goodness for Facetime lol.
On that note it's time for another gentle reminder, and I need to get her pills ready so I will call it a day.
It's lovely to be back sharing things with you.
Thanks for stopping by.

Statement Sentiments

Evening All,

As promised here are a couple of samples from Saturdays class.

I created the panel for this card whilst showing the ladies how to use the Distress Oxide inks and mixed media or watercolour card stock to make a 'Mop Up Background'.
I love all the fabulous colours and so I decided that it didn't need anything more than a large die cut sentiment.
I also added a stamped sentiment across the bottom of the panel.
I had trimmed a piece from the bottom of the previous panel to make the first card, so I decided to turn it in to a second smaller one.
Once again I used a large die cut sentiment, only this time I die cut it from the panel itself and added dimension by layering it on to craft foam.
I remembered to create a panel for each of my tags. The left hand one is using glossy card stock and the right, mixed media/watercolour card.
Although the ink has been blended on to the background of this card, I figured that it fitted in with the others having using a large statement die.
I also used a stencil and embossing machine to give some added dimension to the background, and then added a little gilding wax.
Thanks for stopping by.

Good Luck with Woodware Witterings

Morning Everyone.
My turn again over at WoodwareWitterings where this week we are sharing Good Luck cards with you.
I have used my Dreamweaver Alphabet and Number Dies to create the Good Luck tiles.
I die cut the letters in both white and kraft card and then pieced them back together giving me two sets of letters.
The rest of the sentiment comes from an old stamp set FRCL 056 You Did It, and I created the flower out of heart stamps from another set JGS395 Wedding Hearts.
Of course as I had two sets of letters I just had to make a second card.
This time I used a couple of different stamps from FRCL056 You Did It.
I hope that you have been inspired by our offerings this week. Why not check out what the rest of the DT have been up to HERE.
Happy Stamping and Hugs

Raining Cats and Dogs at WoodwareWitterings

Morning Everyone,
It's my turn over at WoodwareWitterings today, where this week it is 'Raining Cats and Dogs'
Dorothy sends us a list of the challenges several weeks in advance, and most of them are just cryptic titles for us to interpret in any way we see fit.
I decided to do a bit of paper piecing for my take on it.
Cats are good luck right? Well I know its supposed to be black ones but this cute one has black on it lol.
She is part of an old set designed by Francoise FRCL124 Groovy Cats.
I stamped and embossed both Good Luck and Kitty onto some dotty paper from my Woodware stash (I have a box of papers that are sold by Woodware for when I make cards for the catalogues)
The beauty of Paper Piecing is that with systematic cutting out you end up with several finished panels which are then easy to turn into cards.
Cut out the G's from all four papers, and then  the O' etc. Work your way across the images and lay the pieces out onto plain stamped images so that they don't get lost.
I finished all four of the pieces this time, but I have several panels in my bits box just waiting in the wings for a card in a hurry.
In fact I used several of them only this week when I need some New Baby cards.
Hope you have a great week.
Happy Crafting.

Good Luck for the future to The Craft Barn

Hi All,
Last Sunday saw the end of an era, when The Craft Barn closed the doors on its bricks and mortar shop forever.
Although the management has changed over the years, and even the venue at one stage, it will always hold a special place in my heart as it is the place where my creative journey began over 20 years ago!!
It was in the original Barn that I first learnt about all things stamping, and where I was given my first opportunities to demonstrate and then ultimately teach.
I have made many good friends there, and met some of the best in the business, so I felt that it was only fitting that I should mark its passing into an on-line only shop by entering their very appropriate challenge this week and wish them Good Luck.
I love Francoise Huge Word stamps.
They are so useful and with careful cutting out it it easy to create several cards from the one set of stamped images.
With each of these cards I stamped the image on to card and created my background before adding the paper pieced letters.
I added some Gelli Roll Stardust pen to the small overlapping areas of the letters for a little added interest.
I would like to wish everyone at The Barn good luck in this next stage in their adventures, and hope that people will continue to shop with them and be inspired by their classes, which I understand will be continuing.
I for one will be forever grateful for the wealth of knowledge that I acquired during my many visits over the years, as well as some of my rather large stash.
Good Luck in the future everyone.
Hugs and happy crafting.

Good Luck its Time to Relax

Evening Everyone,
Well the release of 50 shades of Grey was quite the topic of conversation at work today..
I begin to think that I must be about the only person who hasn't read the book. Perhaps I should have borrowed it from my Mum when I visited her this evening lol.
As promised, here is the end result of all the chaos on my workdesk that I shared with you yesterday.
The card was made to give to our Area Manager who has just left us to go on Maternity leave as she is expecting Twins!!
She has two boys already, and was not planning any more, so this has come as a bit of a shock.
I used a piece of background from my Gelli Plate stash and the fabulous Huge Good Luck stamp from Woodware. The letters were paper pieced using coordinating pieces of card.
I hope that she follows the advise of the sentiment, and relaxes before the arrival of her new little bundles in a  couple of months time.
She has promised to bring them for a visit, and cuddles, once they have put in an appearance.
I had better get a Congratulations card ready it will be May before we know it.
Bye for now,
Hugs Kimx
