For Two Little Boys

Evening everyone.
Well I've managed to make it to the weekend, without hypothermia, pneumonia or frostbite, so that is a result.
It has been rather wet here which has helped to raise the temperature a little, for which I am very grateful.
Of course the grotty weather is perfect for crafting, and I have every intention of spending a wonderful crafty weekend in the company of some fabulous people, but I will share more of that on Monday.
I had a couple birthday cards to make recently for two little boys (brothers born just over a year apart) and so I went for something fairly simple as time was of the essence.

The little seahorse was created using another of my Limited Edition DooHickey dies.

 I covered it with Frantage powder and added it to some matching paper.

This second card uses another very useful Happy Birthday die (can't remember what make I'm afraid)

and some Hobby Art animal images paper pieced from the same matching paper.
Better get to bed now, I have a busy weekend ahead of me.

Ten little fingers and ten little toes

Hello again,
Have you had a good day?
It occurred to me this morning when I heard that my best friend had become a Grandmother for the second time in a month, that I had never shared the Birth Announcement and Thank you cards that I made for Becki on the birth of my own new Granddaughter Emma, back in July.
Where on earth have those 3 months gone to?

I love this photo from the early days, it is one of my favourites.

I created the cards out of some background papers from my stash,

and a lovely rocking horse die that was part of one of the Christmas Limited Edition DooHickey Die Club.

With a little bit of careful planning (some would call it OCD) I managed to use both the die cut and the piece of paper that it was cut from.

I made a small announcement card to go inside each one as a little bit of a keepsake. They were made using the magic stamp of Emma's hand and foot print.

The inside of the Thank You card was also personalised using her footprint.

This photo was taken the day she came home from the hospital and it really is a little bit of deja vu.
Emma is sleeping in the moses basket that my parents bought me for Becki over 30 years ago!!
Emma was able to sleep in it straight away, unlike her Mum who spent her first night at home sleeping in a drawer because I had no bedding for the moses basket.
Still it doesn't seem to have done her any harm, and she could still sleep for England given half the chance.
Let's hope that they all get a good nights sleep tonight, especially the very new Mum and Dad.

Happy Father's Day Daddy

Evening Everyone,
Happy Father's Day to all those wonderful Dad's out there.

This is a very special card that I was asked to make for a very special someone today.

My Granddaughter Saskia helped pick the LOTV topper and then the rest was left up to me.

I used one of fabulous Huge Word stamps designed for Woodware by Francoise and a bit of paper piecing with papers to match the image.

The sentiment is also from LOTV and I added a die cut DooHickey fence.

Daddy was added to a DooHickey cloud using die cut letters.
I'm hoping that by now this has safely been delivered and that I am not spoiling the surprise by posting it.
I hope that this and every other Daddy was well and truly spoilt today, and lets share a special thought for all of those wonderful Dad's no longer with us.

Our very own Princess

Evening Everyone,
I hope that you have all had a fabulous Saturday.
Yesterday was the birthday of my eldest Granddaughter Megan. I can't believe how quickly the last 15 years have flown by. It seems only yesterday that she came out of hospital to attend her first party at the tender age of 12 hours!!!
She was born on my parents Golden Wedding Anniversary and so we popped her in to see everyone on our way back from the hospital.

This is the card that I made for her birthday. Once again I reached for my trusty LOTV toppers and circular nesties.

I die cut some flowers using DooHickey dies and shaped them to match the flower in the little girls hat.
Off to bed now, I have a busy day of sample making tomorrow.

Pretty in Pink

Evening Everyone
Welcome to the weekend,I hope that you have had a good day.

I feel like I have spent the day working with a bunch of Muppet's, serving some of the rudest customers in the world, but hey ho as I said it's Friday, and tomorrow is another day.

I often get requests from work mates for a card, usually with five minutes notice, oh and by the way I need to post it to Sri Lanka / India / Pakistan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At least I had a little more notice for this card made for the 2 year old daughter of one such colleague.

I really don't know where I would be without my Lili of the Valley topper. I would love to be able to practise my colouring but I'm afraid that there really are not enough hours in the day, so I cheat, but what  a wonderful way to do it.

The sentiments are also from Lili of the Valley, stamped and embossed onto Kraft card and coloured using my trusty Stardust pen and White Wink of Stella.

The borders are DooHickey dies and the papers are from my stash. They match rather perfectly I think.

The flowers and leaves are also DooHickey dies with a lovely sparkly Glitter Dome in the centre.

Teaching tomorrow, so that will be fun, nothing like work at all.

Now the Football is over

Hi All
Just a quick post tonight as time has really got away from me.

This is a card that I made for  the birthday of one of the children that we used to look after.He is now at Secondary School!! How old does that make me feel?

Like all the boys that I know he seems to like football so I used one of my Lili of the Valley toppers, only this time I fussy cut the image before adding it to a circle of green card.

I went over the back of the image with a large ball tool and attached it to the card using silicon to add some dimension. I used a circular greeting in place of a football.

The football background is actually an embossing folder which I dry embossed onto white card stock and then wiped over with a black ink pad before heat embossing with clear powder.
The grass is a very well used DooHickey die.
Had I been a little more on the ball (sorry for the pun) then I would have posted this to tie in with the World Cup final. But you can probably tell how much notice of that event I took by the fact that this post completely missed it lol.
Off to bed now, I need to make the most of my last lie in. Besides I still have those two special cards to finish and my deadline is getting perilously close.

Shades of Grey for Mollie

Evening Everyone,
Have you all had a good day. I have been a very good girl, beavering away with my DT samples for Hobby Art.
The house has been very quiet which is rather unusual, as everyone was out watching my daughter's friends participate in the Race for Life.
The wine was chilled and ready for their return and everyone spent a lovely afternoon sitting in the garden while I carried on with my samples.

This card was made for Mollie, one of the runners who was 12 last week. I'm told she actually beat her Mum to the finish line!!

I coloured 'Poppy Tilda' using Distress Inks Black Soot and Weathered Wood.

I cut her out and matte and layered her using some oval Nesties.

The flowers are die cut using DooHickey dies,

and I added some Card Candi as flower centers, as well as a little glitter glue and pearls.

The background to the card has been made with pieces of embossed card stock using the Bargello technique.
I'm sure that everyone will sleep well tonight and I must admit to taking a little pleasure in suggesting the my Grandson could come and wake me up in the morning as I won't be at work, but he will be at school.
I did go on to point out that he would be getting his own back for 5 whole weeks in the Summer holidays so he should not begrudge me the next 3 days lol.

Golden Wedding Wishes

Evening Everyone,
I hope that it has been more summery where you are than it has been here. It's been wet and dull all day, much more like Autumn than Summer.
So I thought I would inject a little sunshine with this card that I made for a friend to give her parents on their Golden Wedding Anniversary.

I used the fabulous 'Congratulations' stamp from Lili of the Valley which I stamped and embossed in gold onto pale cream card stock.

I also added my favourite Hero Arts Leaf Flourish F5042 using Antique Linen Distress ink.

The sentiment has been made up using stamps from a couple of Woodware sets FRCL043 Wedding Words and FRCL107 Wedding Anniversaries. 

The main panel on the card has been dry embossed with an Embossalicious Flourish folder and then I added  more Antique Linen ink and some White Fire Treasure Gold Metallic Wax.
The panel was cut out using a Go Create die and then mounted onto matching gold card stock.

The flowers and leaves have been cut from gold and kraft card using an assortment of dies (mostly DooHickey's). I also added some Card Candi and stamen from my stash.

As usual I attached them with silicon which helped to give the whole thing some dimension.

Fortunately the card was being hand delivered so I got away without having to make a box for it.

I would like to enter a couple of challenges, something I haven't done for a while.

Happy Birthday Max

Hello Again,
I can't believe how quickly this weekend has come to an end.

This card was made for a young man who I jokingly refer to as my Grandson.
He is the son of my Daughters best friend, and spends rather a lot of time at our house so we laugh that he has become a surrogate Grandson. In fact he turned up first thing this morning to show me what he had been given for his birthday. How sweet is that :O)

He loves his football and supports Chelsea so I added some blue Spectrum Noir pen to this Lili of the Valley topper. I hope that he will get past the fact that the kit isn't accurate.

I made some patchwork background using blue, black and white papers and added some medical gauze behind the image to look like the goal net.

The flags are cut using a DooHickey and were the ideal way to add his name and age.
I even had a few left over bits to be able to make another card to put in my box. I'm sure that it will come in handy some time fairly soon.

And now for something completely different

Hi Everyone,
I hope that you have all had a fabulous day. Mine did not go quite according to plan, although it has been good none the less.
I must have known that today's class was not going to be straightforward when I didn't get my tag and instructions done in time. I was pretty sure that the Girls would forgive me, I took biscuits instead, talk about bribery lol.
Anyway as it happens I had to think on my feet and come up with something completely different when Davina's iron when up in smoke, quite literally!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We ended up rescheduling the class (Embossing Folders and Waxed Paper) for next month and played with inks and resist stamping instead. So I have a couple more weeks to get my instructions sorted out, and find a new iron.

So instead of a card from today's class here is one that I made for my Granddaughter to take a birthday party this afternoon.

I used an old Lili of the Valley topper and some pink background paper from my stash.
The punched border and heart are DooHickeys and I added a tiny flower and a brad.
I don't think that I will risk trying to iron anything just at the moment, lets hope that I can get away with it with my uniform for Monday lol.

To Have and To Hold

Hi All,
Today is a very special day for a friend of mine, so I hope that the sun has been shining for her, as it is her Wedding Day.

I normally see her at work every morning for her coffee fix, so this is the card that I made for her and her new Hubby.

I used one of the large LOTV word stamps and an old LOTV topper.

I stamped and embossed Congratulations using Versamark ink and Ivory Frantage Embossing Enamel. Colour was added using Antique Linen and Victorian Velvet Distress Inks.

The flowers have been die cut from Kraft card using assorted DooHickey dies.

The miniature greeting is also from a LOTV stamp set that was exclusive to Create and Craft.

An Easel card is always a nice way to make a card stand out from the crowd.

My 'Little Sister' is also finally getting married later this year, so I used the large LOTV greeting to make a Wedding acceptance card to send her.

I used the same combination of colours along with words from a fabulous Woodware stamp set.
I'm sure that what ever the weather has been like today Vicky and Greg will have had a magical day. I am looking forward to seeing the photos.
