Sending Smiles Across the Miles

Evening,

I've sent several cards abroad just recently, to friends across the pond, so here is a card that would be perfect for just such a posting.

The background was created using the 'Bump and Smudge' technique.
Distress Oxide inks are perfect for this,
and then I added the sentiment and a couple of fussy cut floral images.
A similar idea here, but this time used for an Anniversary card.
I used rather more ink for this one
and plenty of water splatters.

Thanks for stopping by.

Groovi Snowdrops

 Afternoon,

Today should have been our first class of the New Year followed by a celebratory Takeaway, but since several of our number have had recent brushes with Covid and even possible shingles, we have decided to postpone our get together for a fortnight.

We were starting off gently with a nice relaxing play with all things Groovi, so here are a couple of cards that I made using a mixture of plates.
Snowdrops always make me think of my Dad. We had a large clump of them at home that were always referred to as his for some reason. And of course that also make me think of spring and warmer weather, which can't come quick enough for me lol.
I used another mixture of plates for this card,
along with a peel-off sentiment.

Postponing the class wasn't all bad news, since it has enabled me to finally get my hair done. So now I am going to spend another afternoon catching up on some crafty projects from my 'To Do' pile. At least I won't be adding to the pile today with there being no class, so that is a result.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a great day.

Triple Layered Floral Panel

 Evening All,

We had a fabulous day of classes today, marred only by the total madness that we encountered trying to drive home. The traffic was just ridiculous. I live less than 3 minutes from my place of work.......a BP petrol station,.

Our journey to class this morning involved turning round and taking a different route, and this afternoons journey home was no better due to a delivery of fuel at said BP causing huge queues of traffic in both directions. People are just idiots and I thought that there was going to be a punch up at one stage. I am soooooo glad that I am haven't been at work today having to deal with all of this madness.

I haven't been able to get any more samples from the class finished this evening, so I will have to share another couple of cards from the class on Layering dies.

I cut this fabulous layered die from black, red and white cardstock
and layered it onto a piece of silver holographic cardstock.
It looks stunning, but is dreadfully difficult to photograph.
I also used it for this card, only this time I only used white cardstock for the layers.
I added a die cut sentiment
and some tiny gems to finish.
Thanks for stopping by, I hope that you are safely at home now and not out chasing fuel supplies :O)

Floral Layering Dies

Evening All,

We have a class on Multiple Layering Dies on Saturday, so I have spent a very relaxing afternoon die cutting for England? I figured if I got all the die cut layers done, I could make the cards up at my leisure.

As well as Multiple Layering Background dies, I will also be taking along assorted floral dies.
If memory serves this is one from Crafters Companion, although it could be Altenew of course.
I had several cards made up from a previous class, so this seems the perfect opportunity to share them.
I used the same background die here as on the first card, only this time I used a bit of paper piecing and some layering stamps.

Back to work tomorrow, so I had better get to bed. It's always hard getting back in to a routine when you have been off for a few days.

Thanks for stopping by.

What do you give a 91 year old?

WARNING PICTURE HEAVY POST

Evening All,

I find that birthday prezzies are always a bit of a challenge, but what on earth do you give a 91 year old?

Several years ago I gave Mum a large box of handmade cards, along with a stash of peel-off sentiments in various colours.

I have topped it up on several occasions.
So I decided that this year I would give her a new box (aka M&S Shortbread biscuit tin) only this time I would also add in enough postage stamps for each card since it has become so expensive to post them.
I was going to stick the appropriate postage on to each card,
but decided that as she may need to hand deliver some of them,
I would just put L (large) or ST (standard) in the top corner of the envelope so that she would know which stamp she needed if necessary.
I tried to cover most occasions for which she might need a card,
and of course the peel-offs will help her transform one without a sentiment on it already.
Mum writes a good letter,
so I even added in a few notelets.
I finally managed to deliver her gift in person this afternoon,
due to a lift from a good friend.
Of course I also included some thank you cards,
which I'm sure Mum will make good use of.
Typically I couldn't escape work even when I was visiting Mum. I got a phone call from Boss to ask me to get to work at 4am tomorrow morning, so I hope you will understand if I get to bed now.

Black and Blue Anniversary

Evening All,

Just home after a rather hectic weekend with the Littlest Grandchildren, I will definitely need my lie in tomorrow. Mind you it will seem strange not to be woken by Chloe tapping me on the shoulder and telling me that it is time to get up.

Here is another card using a silhouette style stamp, this time in monochrome colours.

I stamped and embossed the initial image, and then stamped the image again several times without reinking, to give a fabulous faded background panel.
I stamped the grungy background stamp onto the blue card and then added some pearls and a stamped sentiment for finishing touches.
Off to bed now.
Thanks for stopping by.

Enjoy you Day my Lovely

Evening All,

Another wet and distinctly unsummery day. I must admit that the temperature is much more to my liking, although I could do with a little less water lol.

A few more cards tonight from Saturdays class on Distress Oxide inks.
Not only do they make fabulous backgrounds on watercolour and mixed media cardstock, but they also work on glossy for a whole different look.
I added the inks to the glossy cardstock in layers, drying each layer as I went.
They are lovely as they are, but take on a whole different look if you gently wipe away the chalky oxidization with a baby wipe or cloth.
The colours are just so vibrant, I guess it is the dye ink property of the pad that gives that look.
I have used a variety of die cut foliage over these backgrounds since they were made using photo paper which is not very receptive to heat embossing.
The colours are just amazing.
The background to this card was made using the same technique only this time I used a different card stock
which has given a much more muted look to the finished panel.
Still lovely though I think you will agree.
Thanks for stopping by.

A Vintage Wedding

Evening All,

On occasion I get asked by friends to make a special card. This time it was for a Wedding that has finally taken place today, at least I hope that it has :O)

I do love this type of challenge, armed with only a couple of requirements for my task. In this case dusky pink and vintage.
Once again I reached for my large Tonic heart dies and some paper from a 12x12 pad from 'The Works'.
I'm not usually a fan of cheap. It's often the case of 'Buy cheap, pay twice', but in this instance I will make an exception.
Their 12x12 papers are brilliant. Good quality, heavy weight, and very cheap, so I always look out for them whenever I am in 'The Works'. Even if I don't really need them lol.
I used the paper for the smaller internal heart,
and hand made flowers.
I created my own background paper for the base card using several dotty heart dies.
Of course there were several pieces left over after I had finally settled on my finished card, so I made an Anniversary card,
or two!!
Thanks for stopping by, I really do appreciate you.
Happy Crafting, and big hugs
Kimx
