New PaperCuts release - You're a Star

Evening,

There are some fabulous new Paper Cuts Edger Dies released today by Creative Expressions, and I got to play with one of them.

This one is called CEDPC1226 - Paper Cuts You're a Star Edger Die.
I die a bit of paper piecing after die cutting it from several different colours of card stock.
It was a bit fiddly, but well worth the effort.
The blue background was created using inks and Cosmic Shimmer Gilding Polish through a small star stencil.
I paper pieced the green leaves and red hears and then added some glossy accents.
I do hate waste, so I used one of the leftover die cuts as a stencil and then added the red and green snowflakes over this.
I covered them with versamark and crystal embossing powder to give them a little extra texture.
I also added a stack sentiment for a Christmas card.
Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to check out the rest of the release HERE.

Just For You

Evening,
As you know I love cards where you get two for the price of one, so here are another couple of die cut cards using an inky background.
This card is actually made with the leftovers, by doing a bit of Paper Piecing.
I die cut this beautiful floral background die from white as well as the inky background.
I then added it to a piece of DSSSheet and placed the inky pieces back inside the main die.
The sentiment has been cut several times from kraft card and then stacked to it looks like a wooden die cut element.
I used DSSSheet here too, only instead of more paper piecing I cover the exposed sticker sheet with fine clear glitter.
I also used stacked die cuts for the sentiment painted with a clear sparkle pen.
Thanks for stopping by.

Thought of You Today

Evening,

I've got another couple of cards to share tonight using the fabulous Sue Wilson Floral Panel Collection.

They actually come as a set of two, so although I have used the leafy die,
the collection is called CED2055 Button Flower.
I die cut the panel once from a piece of mop up background,
and then again from kraft card, before doing a little bit of paper piecing.
I really liked the leafy spray, and as you know I don't like waste,
so I cut it away from the frame and added it to a panel with a little background stamping on it.
I stacked the sentiment dies, before adding some glossy accents.
My thoughts are with various people, as well as my Cousins who have no doubt been thinking about their Dad who died 3 years ago today.
Thank you for stopping by.

Warm Winter Wishes from Creative Expressions

Afternoon,

Although to look outside it seems like the late evening already. I've been very organized, at the moment at least. I have started writing my Christmas newsletter.

I started sending one over 20 years ago, to let people know about the deaths of my son Adam, and my Dad. It was actually very therapeutic, and so I have tried to keep up with it over the years. So, as I have started writing it today, I thought that perhaps it was a good time to share a few cards that I made much earlier this year for the lovely people at Creative Expressions.

I stamped and embossed this design onto kraft card and then painted it with Cosmic Shimmer Pearlescent Paint.
Stamped, embossed and painted on kraft card again, and then fussy cut and added to a handmade background from my stash.
I did a bit of Paper Piecing here along with some painting.
I just used part of the image here. I stamped and gold embossed the Mitten used in the first card and then die cut part of the image. Once again, I painted the images with the Pearlescent Paints.
Better get back to my newsletter writing. I want to try and get my Christmas cards in the post early this year so that people can see that I have moved. That is the aim anyway, although the best laid plans and all that!!

Paper Pieced Floral

Morning,

I do love a bit of Paper Piecing, especially when there are nice large pieces to play around with.

I used a sheet of background paper from a Clarity Paper pad for the first two cards.
That of course being the other beauty of Paper Piecing.......you get a Twofer.
I'm not so sure about this card, but as I have often found everyone's taste is so different. The cards that I have spent ages on and am really happy with are often sidestepped for the ones that I am less than happy with, like this one. I guess that it is a good thing that we are all different otherwise there wouldn't be such a wealth of wonderful new things for us to play with. It would be very boring if we were all the same.
This is a lovely layering die set and I have used the leftover paper for the background panel on this card. I then layered some white card stock on to a sticker sheet before die cutting the main image. This allowed all the pieces to be held in place.
I managed to match the colours in the background paper using my Distress inks.
A fine white matt helps to 'lift' the die cut and coloured panel along with a piece of funky foam for added dimension.
The sentiment is from my stash and comes from Simon Says Stamp........I think.

Making Spirits Bright.

Hi All,

Finally got to see Mum this afternoon, thanks to the kindness of a good friend. I've stayed away for the last couple of weeks since one of our cafe girls went off to self isolate due to Covid. It turned out to be her daughter that had it, so I wasn't in close contact, but I didn't want to take a chance with Mum. Unfortunately it also meant missing out on meeting my newest little Great Niece...........Zoom just isn't the same when it comes to a cuddle with a new baby!!

So how about a couple of cute Christmas cards made using Jane's mini Festive Fuzzies.
I stamped, embossed and coloured the image and then layered it over a piece of embossed card stock.
I layered this cute little snowman over a die cut black and white background.
It is a fabulous die for easy peasy paper piecing.
I added some glossy accents to highlight the image, and a chopped up sentiment.
Thanks for stopping by.

Paper Cuts Floral Edger Die

Evening All,

There is another new launch over at Creative Expressions today, and this time it some fabulous Paper Cuts Floral Edger dies, a couple of which I was lucky enough to get to play with.

This one is CEDPC1163 Iris, and it is perfect for some paper piecing.
I used scraps of green and white card having first trimmed the panel and layered it onto a white card which had background text stamped onto it.
As you can see I was having fun with some blue mop up backgrounds from my stash. They look fabulous whether they are used to die cut the image as here.
Or used as a background for for a plain white die cut.
Plain black and white with a pop of colour is another suggestion.
And for this final card I lay my white die cut onto a sticker sheet. A bit more paper piecing and then some gilding flakes to finish things off.
I hope that you have as much fun with these dies as I have.
Thanks for stopping by.

Happy For You

Evening All,

My daughter recently asked me to make a card for a neighbour who had found out that she is expecting again. So while I was playing with the fabulous new Sue Wilson Big Word dies an idea popped in to my head, and this is what I came up with.

I have had this Tilda image coloured and cut out in my box for years, and so this seemed like the perfect opportunity to use her up.
I die cut HAPPY from pink and blue background papers, and then several times from white cardstock so that I could stack the frame.
This die is the perfect size for paper piecing since there are very few tiny fiddly little pieces.
I use the lid from one of my A4 storage boxes to catch all the bits, which makes it soooo much easier to find all those tiny pieces.
Thank you for that tip Paul Church. My carpet certainly thanks you!!
I had a couple of other Tilda images already coloured and ready to go, so I couldn't resist the urge to finish up another couple of cards. Of course it also means that nothing very much went to waste from the die cuts.
I even used this lovely design to mirror the Y. I'm getting clever in my old age.
Everyone has been tired and grumpy this evening. They were all up far too early, so I'm hoping to wear them out a little bit tomorrow with a bike ride to meet Mummy from work.
We always have jobs to do on a Sunday like stripping the beds and getting the washing done which they love to help with. Their reward is usually a trip to the park.....weather permitting, and sometime a mini hot chocolate from Costa. That's my treat while they expend some energy in the playground.
Better get to sleep before my little bestie comes and wakes me up. Kids have no sense of time, especially not Jack whose day usually seems to start at about 5am. I know that I start work then, but this is the weekend and my only chance of a lie in.
Thanks for stopping by.

I've Been So Good Santa

 Evening All,

Another productive day. I have a couple of little people's birthdays next month and I have very few cards in my stash for that age so it was time to finish off a few bits and pieces.

I also managed to finish a couple of Christmas cards that I started for my good friend Gill's challenge on Facebook a couple of weeks ago.

Woodware have produced several of these fabulous large word stamps over the years,
and they are just perfect for a bit of Paper Piecing which is what Gill was looking for.
I also found this panel in my Christmas bits box from several years ago using a wonderful Magenta stamp and some background paper.
Another card from my stash, this one uses another old stamp and some red paper for the poinsettia.
And I also found this card amongst my stash which also uses paper piecing for the young man's outfit.
All in all a very successful weekend. Let's hope I can keep it up.
Thanks for stopping by.
