Getting Back to Normal

Evening,

It was so nice to get back to a little bit of normality today, with a trip to the gym. I didn't want to push it since it is the first time that I have managed to get there in absolutely ages, but I did manage a nice brisk walk on the treadmill, so that's a start.

Here is another card made using the ink sprays and clingfilm technique.

I used several circular style dies 

along with some tiny die cut flowers and leaves.

Back to work tomorrow, so I have been busy catching up on a few crafty projects while I had the chance.

Cross Stitched Christmas

Evening,

It's the end of my stay with the 'Littlies', and I've spent the day catching up on a few sewing repair jobs that Mum had put aside for me. 

I have my own drawer there so that I don't have to take my wash things or PJ's with me every time and I joked with the kids that Mummy was expecting me to wear Jack's trousers when I found a pair of his in amongst my things. They needed a few stitches to repair a seam, and Mummy is the first to admit that ordinary stitching is not her strong suit, so she sets things aside for me. It has to be said that this has been on my 'To Do' list for rather a while, so I hope that they still fit him now that they are repaired lol. She may not be much with a needle and thread, but like me she loves cross stitch. 

When my kids were small I made them all a pillowcase for Santa to leave his gifts in. 

They each had there names on, and I added a couple of other panels over the years.........this one in 1996!!

A few years ago I decided that I would make sure that all of the Grandchildren had a pillowcase to leave for Father Christmas.

Unfortunately I couldn't find the same cross stitch font, so I decided to update everyone.

I was obviously very organized that year, because everyone also had a handmade cracker for the table.

Mum still has the crackers in her Christmas box and although I managed to get a pillowcase made for Jack I still need to make him his own cracker............maybe next year.

Mummy also made these everyone for Christmas Day.

Their own sleigh full of goodies. She a clever Girl.

Simply Fabulous

Evening,

We definitely need something to cheer us up and make us think of summer today, It has been chucking it down with rain all day.

So I searched through all of my card photos and found a couple of them that I made last year.

They were made using some fabulous rub-ons and background papers.

I used a combination of dies,

along with some twine,

and a fabulous embossing folder.

Speaking of fabulous, Emma had a disco party to go to this afternoon, so she decided to wear the dress that she wore to the wedding on New Years Eve.

We got soaked getting to and from the party, so we enjoyed a snuggle and a film after dinner.

Thinking of You..........or should that be me.

Evening,

I think that should actually read 'Think of Me'. I am currently trying to persuade my youngest Granddaughters that it REALLY is time to snuggle down and go to sleep.

We are having a sleepover, and they are both fighting sleep. They are chatting away just like their Mum and Auntie used to do way back when they were little. Anything to keep themselves awake, so this will have to be quick.

Another card made using handmade inky background paper,

and some die cut trees.

I need to snuggle down now. I can see me being asleep before Chloe at least. I think Emma might have finally given in...............................ok maybe not lol.

Through the Round Window.

Morning,

At least that is what these cards remind me of. And that shows my age because Playschool which this saying reminds me of, is a very old British Childrens programme (circa 1964 - 1988).

I have used some handmade background papers created using spray inks and cling film for the backgrounds in all of these cards.

I also used some lovely circular dies, which I think, if memory serves, are by Memorybox.

A piece of embossed white cardstock adds a little extra something to the card base.

A dark card base for this one, and a bit of gold for added lift.

Paper Pieced Floral

Morning,

I do love a bit of Paper Piecing, especially when there are nice large pieces to play around with.

I used a sheet of background paper from a Clarity Paper pad for the first two cards.

That of course being the other beauty of Paper Piecing.......you get a Twofer.

I'm not so sure about this card, but as I have often found everyone's taste is so different. The cards that I have spent ages on and am really happy with are often sidestepped for the ones that I am less than happy with, like this one. I guess that it is a good thing that we are all different otherwise there wouldn't be such a wealth of wonderful new things for us to play with. It would be very boring if we were all the same.

This is a lovely layering die set and I have used the leftover paper for the background panel on this card. I then layered some white card stock on to a sticker sheet before die cutting the main image. This allowed all the pieces to be held in place.

I managed to match the colours in the background paper using my Distress inks.

A fine white matt helps to 'lift' the die cut and coloured panel along with a piece of funky foam for added dimension.

The sentiment is from my stash and comes from Simon Says Stamp........I think.

Welcome Baby

Evening,

How did you spend your Bank Holiday? Mine was spent making several special cards for the arrival of my good friends latest Great Grandchild.

Once again I reached for my trusty LOTV images, and then tried to match them up with some bits and pieces from my stash. To be honest that is often how cards evolve for me.

I found the punched square in my stash and felt that it perfectly complimented the slightly old fashioned pram.

I also managed to find some bits of background paper that match the image to complete this card.

I felt the baby on the rocking horse worked well with the kraft coloured die cuts.

Once again I found some co-ordinating background papers, 

 and added stamped sentiments and die cut buttons and stars.

There was an embossed panel in my stash that inspired this card.

I added a few die cut stars and glossy accents,

along with a die cut cloud for the sentiments.

Of course the card for Mum and Dad had to be extra special, but still started with the die cut heart from my stash.

I felt that the bear with balloons worked best if I fussy cut it before adding it to the card.

I wanted to celebrate all the details of Luca's birth so I die cut the letters from grey card and added them around the heart along with a little sparkle pen and a smattering of glitter glue.

Luca's birth was eagerly awaited by all the ladies at craft classes so we are all looking forward to our introduction.......and mandatory cuddle. Most of the ladies grandchildren have made their way to class at some point in their lives. In fact for many their progress has been monitored throughout Mum's pregnancy so we all feel rather like surrogate Grandmothers. It is so lovely to watch their progress.

Bubble Blooms

Evening,

Well, I've worked out the class schedule from now until the Summer, if only I could work out how to update the blog!!

Whenever Jane has new stamp designs out, I try to incorporate them in to a class.

So here are some Bubble Blooms from some time last year. How weird to be saying that lol.

They are lovely images to colour in, and work well with handmade backgrounds.

They are also a great way to use up some of that stash of bling that we all seem to have.

The last couple of cards used vellum on which to stamp and emboss the image.

A Wonderful Day

Evening,

And much later than it should be for me to be posting. I should be sound asleep by now, but I have had a lovely day catching up with a few crafty tasks and the time just got away from me.

I hope that you have had a wonderful day, what ever you have been up to.

As I said, I have been finishing off a couple of special cards, and then I got side tracked as I tried to tidy up..........you know how that one goes. Fortunately my Sin-in-law cooked us all curry this evening so I didn't have to worry about feeding myself.

I really must get to bed now or I will not be fit for work at 5am tomorrow morning.
