Sending Love and Sympathy

Evening,

Sadly I have the need to put a couple of Sympathy cards in the post, so here are some made using stacked die cuts for a letterpress technique.

I used a floral layering die and cut each piece several times from scraps of cardstock and once from vellum.
I stacked each of the pieces with the vellum as the final layer and then constructed the floral design. I added ink to the image as if it were a stamp. Set up your embossing machine as if you were going to use a die with the rubber embossing mat and then place the inked die cut downwards onto a piece of white cardstock and run it through the machine.

This gives you a fabulous letterpressed image. The vellum layer stops the ink from soaking into the die cut so that you get a better impression on the card.
Same card just a variation in colour. I added a die cut and stamped sentiment to each.
I also embossed a rectangle around the image using a plain or stitched die and a few pearls.
These are always the hardest of cards to make, but from experience, I know just how much they mean to the recipient.
Thank you for stopping by.

Thank You... For Your Kindness

 Evening,

It's been another wet and miserable day here.

I had to walk to Horley and back today to get my Covid booster, rather unsuccessfully dodging the torrential rain.

One delightful car driver decided that it would be a jolly wheeze to drive as close to the kerb as possible and soak me. To add insult to injury he then turned around and drove on the wrong side of the road through a huge puddle thus soaking me again!!!!!!!!!! I so wish that I had been able to catch his registration number as my friend has just informed me that it is an automatic £1,000 fine.!! Oh to have been a fly on the wall when that letter arrived.

Since Mum came out of hospital in September, after fracturing her pelvis, we have been lucky enough to have a fabulous team from Reablement to help her in the bathroom each morning. They are a lovely bunch of ladies, always smiling and helpful and eager to put Mum at her ease.
Our care package changes next week so we will have a new set of people to get used to. I do hope that they are as kind as the last. It is certainly not a job that I would like.
As we are currently writing a couple of Thank you cards, I thought that I would share one that I made earlier in the year to send up to SirStampalot.
I used a layering die, cut from white and glitter card.
The background to the card is created with Distress inks and then I used a die cut flower as a stamp. Stack several of the die cuts and stick them to an acrylic block. Use vellum for the last layer in the stack so that the water or ink that you use to stamp with doesn't soak into the cardstock.
I added some diecut and coloured flowers and foliage to the corner of the frame.
I added some tape to the back of the base flower to keep all the die cut pieces in place, and then added a second flower for added dimension.
I used the stamp that I created with the die cut flowers to stamp the background on this second card. It's only small, but I hate to waste any bits and pieces.
I've finally dried out, and so far I haven't had any ill effects from my Covid jab.

Layering Diamonds

Evening,

I hope that you have had a good Sunday. We finished ours with a bike ride for the Grandkids. They are definitely outdoor kids. They were quite disappointed that it stopped raining cause they wanted to wear their wellies and take their umbrellas. They had to content themselves with their bike helmets and riding through muddy puddles lol.

I found another card using one of the Presscut layering dies, this time its diamonds.
I added a stamped, embossed and die cut sentiment
along with loads of flowers and foliage.

Thanks for stopping by.

Layered Florals

Evening,

I did say that I liked layering dies, so here are a couple more cards, only this time they use some floral ones from Crafters Companion.

All of the layers on this rose have been cut from white card and then coloured with inks.
I added plenty of foliage, some of it created with layering dies,

along with a sentiment strip.

The roses on this card were once again created using white card stock only this time I used ink sprays to colour the layers.
I also added some large foliage die cut from kraft card.
The background was created from the scrap card that I used under the floral layers while I sprayed them with inks. I try not to waste anything!!
One shade of orange card stock for these flowers
with extra ink added to each layer to create depth.
Once again I used the spray mop up paper in the background. along with a little random stamping.
Thanks for stopping by.

Star Multi Layering Dies

Evening,

I do love layering dies. They are a little more expensive, but so worth it for creating a background to make a statement on a card.

I particularly like this one from Crafts Too - Presscut Star Multi Layer dies.
It makes for a very striking background in this red, black and gold combo.
I finished the card off with a few die cut flowers and a stamped and embossed sentiment.
Same dies, different colour combo and a completely different look.

Paper Pieced Floral

Morning,

I do love a bit of Paper Piecing, especially when there are nice large pieces to play around with.

I used a sheet of background paper from a Clarity Paper pad for the first two cards.
That of course being the other beauty of Paper Piecing.......you get a Twofer.
I'm not so sure about this card, but as I have often found everyone's taste is so different. The cards that I have spent ages on and am really happy with are often sidestepped for the ones that I am less than happy with, like this one. I guess that it is a good thing that we are all different otherwise there wouldn't be such a wealth of wonderful new things for us to play with. It would be very boring if we were all the same.
This is a lovely layering die set and I have used the leftover paper for the background panel on this card. I then layered some white card stock on to a sticker sheet before die cutting the main image. This allowed all the pieces to be held in place.
I managed to match the colours in the background paper using my Distress inks.
A fine white matt helps to 'lift' the die cut and coloured panel along with a piece of funky foam for added dimension.
The sentiment is from my stash and comes from Simon Says Stamp........I think.

Make a Wish in Black and Red

Evening

Another successful crafty day prepping for Saturdays class.

I am trying very hard to keep up with my tags to go with the classes. This one was created for the Layering dies class. It is just a visual reminder to go with the instructions on the back of the tag.
I used a pin prick die in the background to this layered floral panel.
And this is a close up of the front of my tag. It seems that I was in a black and red mood lol.

Thanks for stopping by.

Triple Layered Floral Panel

 Evening All,

We had a fabulous day of classes today, marred only by the total madness that we encountered trying to drive home. The traffic was just ridiculous. I live less than 3 minutes from my place of work.......a BP petrol station,.

Our journey to class this morning involved turning round and taking a different route, and this afternoons journey home was no better due to a delivery of fuel at said BP causing huge queues of traffic in both directions. People are just idiots and I thought that there was going to be a punch up at one stage. I am soooooo glad that I am haven't been at work today having to deal with all of this madness.

I haven't been able to get any more samples from the class finished this evening, so I will have to share another couple of cards from the class on Layering dies.

I cut this fabulous layered die from black, red and white cardstock
and layered it onto a piece of silver holographic cardstock.
It looks stunning, but is dreadfully difficult to photograph.
I also used it for this card, only this time I only used white cardstock for the layers.
I added a die cut sentiment
and some tiny gems to finish.
Thanks for stopping by, I hope that you are safely at home now and not out chasing fuel supplies :O)

Christmas Layering Die

 Evening All,

Most of the Girls that helped with Paint Purley Purple had their photograph taken this afternoon for an article in the local paper. Thankfully I had a previous engagement with a treadmill and other bits of gym equipment...........................I do hate to have my photograph taken!!

We did a class a couple of weeks ago using Layering Dies.
This has to be one of my favourites from my collection.
It really is very easy to use and looks stunning even in three layers of white cardstock.
I used three different silver cardstocks for this one and some more glitter card for the background.
The same layers of silver and holographic card stock, just a different order can change the look of the card. Here I used plain black cardstock for a contrasting background.
Thanks for stopping by.

Busy Die Cutting

Evening All,

I have been a busy bunny over the last couple of days frantically die cutting in preparation for Saturdays class on Layering Dies.

Given just how many layering style dies I own, I decided that the quickest thing to do was to die cut all the layers, and then put the panels together, and then turn the panels in to finished cards.
I've managed to put several panels together, now I just have to finish them off before Saturday. Perhaps I need a bunch of die cut flowers and sentiments.

Thanks for stopping by.
