3D Embossing and Gilding Wax

I really must add a class on 3D embossing folders into the schedule some time soon. They really do have the most amazing detail, and there are so many different technique that you can do with them. At one time my purchases were almost exclusively stamps, but now I probably buy more embossing folders and dies than anything else. Isn't it funny how your tastes and styles change.

The background to this card was made using a fabulous Crafters Companion 3D embossing folder, kraft card and gilding wax.

The panel in the center uses stamping and sticky embossing powder along with some foil. Now that's another good class lol.

Leafy Best Wishes

Evening All,

Another successful day finishing off bits and pieces. It's a very satisfying feeling when I can have a tidy up afterwards...........before the mess starts all over again lol.

I need to get some photos taken before I can share anything with you, but I just ran out of time, so here is a card that I found in my stash that uses an embossing folder in a more traditional manner.

The inked panel with the sentiment on it was created using a 'Magic Stamp'. That's another class that I must add to the list. It is such fun, and a great way to stretch your stamps

I used a sanding block on the leafy embossing folder so that it shows up on the background cardstock better.

Stamping with Embossing Folders and Inks

Evening All,

No babysitting this weekend, so I've had a very productive day finishing off bits and pieces. 

We held a class on stamping with embossing folders last Saturday, so here is a card created with an oval panel using one of my favourite embossing folders and Distress Oxide inks. 

Distress Oxide inks work beautifully with this technique, 

and have the added advantage that you can use them on dark cardstock, as I have done here.

I added some gold stamped, embossed and die cut flowers and leaves from Altenew,

along with a sentiment banner.

Let's hope that tomorrow proves to be just as productive, it would certainly make a change.

Have a Wonderful Christmas Bauble.

Evening All,

It's Friday again. I can't believe how quickly it comes round. 

I've had such fun recently playing with Jane's new Festive Bubble stamps. I have added several more cards to my Christmas card stash using them.

They are perfect for using up all those odd gems and crystals that lurk at the bottom of your embellishment box.

I used a piece of mop up background for this card, and painted the ribbon with bleach.

I tried to mirror the circles with the dotty embossing folder, and the splatters on the mop up background with the gold spray on the cardstock.

I'm looking forward to a weekend of crafting, if my sciatica will allow me to sit down for long enough. It has kicked in big time in the last couple of days, and has necessitated more than one lie down. Oh the joys of getting older. Still it's better than the alternative, as they say.

Resist with a Twist

Evening All,

We were playing with normal embossing folders last weekend, of which it appears that I have 100's, and that's not including the 3D ones lol.

I haven't managed to finish anything off with them yet. My OCD means that I have to do things in order, so it's finish off Woodware sample bits and pieces first!!

With that in mind, I rummaged through my stash of cards, to see if I had anything using the same technique that I could share that I haven't shared before. The answer to that was NO, but I did find some cards using up embossing folder scraps.

We did a class, pre-lockdown, called 'Resist with a Twist' and these cards were made then.

A background image is stamped on to glossy cardstock using versamark ink and then a more solid image is stamped over the top using a dye based ink.

All of these cards use circular images from a stamp set designed by Penny Black (or was it Hero Arts)

As you can see, this leafy image is definitely a favourite of mine from this set.

I die cut the circular images and then layered them onto scraps of embossed card from my stash.

Here I added some gilding wax to highlight the embossing.

I also added a few tiny gems to the background on this one.

Just to show that there were other images in the set as well as the leaves.

Festive Fuzzies Christmas Tree

Evening All,

Just a quickie tonight, I'm shattered.

A couple of cards using Jane's Festive Fuzzies Christmas Tree. I used an inked panel and layered it over an embossed background.

This card uses the same stamp and a piece of mop up background.

Another couple of cards to add to my Christmas stash. Now all I have to do is make sure I write and send them this year lol.

Black and White

Evening All,

It's a good job that I have been taking Creative Expressions parcels to the local Post Office for years. I got there with my samples this afternoon, and when I went to pay I discovered that I had left my money at home. How nice to be trusted enough to go home and return with payment. He even told me to take my receipts with me!!

Having put the samples in the post, I am now on a mission to use up all the left over bits and pieces before I move on to anything else. The cards made with these pieces will be helpful when Jane takes these designs on to the TV. It means that I will actually be ahead of the game for once. That hasn't happened in a really long time :O)

One of my all time favourite classes is 'Black and White, so here are some cards that I made a while ago during one such class.

I love this old Magenta stamp, definitely one that I kept during my recent sort out.

These stamps were released by Magenta at the same time and create a very dramatic look. They stayed too lol.

This card uses a Tim Holtz die to create this lovely lacy corner.

I used the same die here, and added a fussy cut butterfly and sentiment.

White on white can look stunning. Another butterfly, this time with a hint of colour added to it.

I found various strips of embossed card stock for this card, and added a strip of black and some faux pearls.

I finally managed to download my photos from the weekend, so I have updated Sundays post (We've been Busy Bunnies)

I might even manage to finish something off tonight if I'm lucky. Thanks for stopping by.

Happy Wedding Day

 Hi All,

I recently had another wedding card commission. This time for a young couple who love nature and the sea.

I used one of my large Tonic floral frame dies to create the focal point of the card, layered over a piece of background paper from my stash. By happy accident the wording on the paper also refers to the sea.

I cut the frame from pale blue and ivory card stock

and then slightly off set the images in the center of the card.

I used a tiny floral die to add some extra embellishments to the frame.

The center of the panel is a stamped and embossed frame designed by Jane Gill, to which I added some assorted pearls.

Of course any card is made more special with the addition of the recipients names.

As you know I never know quite what I'm going to end up with until I start to play, so as I had some left over bits and pieces to use up, I made another card for my stash.

Not quite as fancy,

and obviously not personalized, but I'm sure that it will find a home one day.

I've finally managed to get the last of my samples finished, for Jane's next release, so it's off to the Post Office for me tomorrow afternoon.

We've Been Busy Bunnies (edited to add pictures)

Evening All

Hope you have had a great Sunday. We have been very busy bunnies in the Tickle household today. The kids and I dug and weeded the front garden and harvested the tomatoes. Unfortunately they couldn't get any canes, so the tomatoes have gone a bit wild, which has also resulted in a lot of them being completely inedible. It's a shame to have had to put a carrier bag full in the food bin, but I am now sporting a windowsill full of tomatoes waiting to ripen. The kids have loved it so we will definitely do it again next year. I took loads of photos, which unfortunately haven't come through yet, so I will edit this tomorrow.

Got another early start tomorrow, so I had better hit the hay.

This what what we had to work with.

The tomatoes are a little wild, but did very well for all that.

They brought chairs out so that they could supervise lol.

The green carrier bag is full of tomatoes that didn't make it. I don't know if they have some sort of blight or just too what but a huge number of them were no good to leave to ripen.

Emma swept up after us.

And this is what we were left with after our hard work.

They had grown beetroot, which had unfortunately gone to seed. The packet of baby wipes is for size comparison..........they were HUGE.

These are now sitting on  my windowsill while they ripen.

Jack didn't even make to the table for lunch. He was absolutely shattered.

Festive Fuzzies Tall Christmas Tree.

Evening All,

A little bit of unscheduled babysitting tonight and tomorrow, so no crafting on my horizon for a couple of days. Thankfully I still have a bucket load of cards already made and waiting to share with you.

Here are another couple of Christmas cards made using Jane's Festive Fuzzies Tall Christmas tree.

I created a moon to go behind the tree and then sponged colours to create a snowy skyline.

I made several cards using the same idea, all the same, but very slightly different lol.
