A Birthday Rose

Evening,

It has been perfect crafting weather today, not that I ever need an excuse to spend the day in the Craft Room lol.

I've been working on some samples for Creative Expressions, which are hush hush for now, so here is a card that I made a while ago using one of Jane Gill's fabulous Halloween stamp sets.
I stamped and embossed the rose onto black cardstock
and then coloured the rose and the spider with Iridescent Watercolour Paint.
I layered the fussy cut image over a piece of background from my stash.
The background was created using a stencil and paste along with some mica sprays.
I also found the die cut sentiment in my bits box, and added it along with a few gems.

Countdown to Christmas - Day 19

Evening All
We had an unexpected visit from the littlest Grandchildren today, which was lovely.
The first thing they wanted to do was crafting, so I gave them the pile of Christmas crafty goodies that 'Auntie Weena' had given me on Saturday. Its amazing what fun you can have with some die cut snowmen, paper and glue.
Mummy needed to do some shopping so I went too, which saved me a walk into Horley. The snow has gone, thankfully, but has been replaced with pouring rain, so I am very glad not to have had to make that trip.
Here are a couple of cards made using one of Jane's Christmas Bubble stamps.
I mirrored all the bubbles and wreath with a circular card here
and plenty of glitter and glossy accents. There are even a few die cut circles.
This second card uses the same stamp set and white embossing,
but this time straight on to white cardstock.
Traditional red for the poinsettia on this one, and then glossy accents to highlight the circles. Unfortunately it doesn't show up very well in the photos.
Must get the last of the prezzies finished tomorrow. The Grandkids rather sidetracked me, in the nicest possible way, but if I am ever going to get things finished, I really must do it tomorrow.
Thanks for stopping by.

Jane's Sunflower Rays

Evening,

As you know from yesterday, I got given a beautiful bunch of Autumn flowers by my colleagues when I retired from work on Friday.

By happy coincidence one of the stunning new floral stamps from Jane Gill's latest collection for Woodware at Creative Expressions, is this large Sunflower.
My flowers immediately reminded me of this card that I had made for the release.
I stamped, embossed, coloured and fussy cut the large floral image and layered it over a white frame cut using a Sue Wilson die set.
The background to the card has been created using a stencil and stencil paste and some ink sprays.

A reminder of my beautiful bouquet.
I hope that you have a good evening.
Thanks for stopping by.

Finishing Off Christmas

Evening,

I did wonder what the weather would get up to this weekend after our amazing assortment on Thursday. It was a very mixed bag........torrential rain, so heavy that it sounded like huge hail stones, brilliant sunshine and then to round off the afternoon hail itself and heavy snow, albeit only for a few minutes.

In view of the snow and the fact that we were finishing off Christmas cards in class on Saturday I have decided to share a Christmas card with you tonight.

I have used a 3D embossing folder and dark green cardstock for the background along with a little gold gilding wax.
The stamped panel was created using an image taken from a piece of Alcohol inked Yupo paper using an Alcohol Lift ink pad. I also used a Tim Holtz stencil in the background along with a stamped and embossed sentiment from Woodware.
I die cut my panel and then left the die in place while I added ink around the edges. This creates a fabulous faux matt and layer.
I managed to finish off envelopes and inserts for quite a few Christmas cards on Saturday. It's amazing what you can get done when you are surrounded by lovely crafty friends.
Hope that you had a great weekend.

Happy Birthday Branches

Evening,

I said the best laid plans, didn't I? I've had a successful day of crafting, just not with Altenew stamp sets. Still there is always tomorrow after work lol.

Here is a card that I made last year using a pre cut and coloured floral branches die cut.

The background was created using an embossing folder and some acrylic paints.
A fabulous sentiment from a Woodware stamp set to finish it off.
Back to work tomorrow so I had better get my head down. At least it will be a short week thank goodness.
Thanks for stopping by.

Birthday Butterflies

Evening,

I managed to sort out my Internet issues. They have a new router at my daughters, which I didn't know about, so I couldn't log on!! So here is the card that I was going to share last night.

Butterflies always make me think of the garden at home when I was a child, although to be fair they were usually cabbage whites that were eating their way through all of the wonderful vegetables that Mum and Dad grew.
This was amongst a bunch of cards that I made for Janice and Andy last year.
I used up all sorts of bits and pieces that I had been playing with at the time including this stamped and embossed sentiment from a stamp set by Jane Gill for Woodware.
Thanks for stopping by.
Have a great Sunday.

Vellum Florals

Evening,

A couple of cards tonight using one of Jane's fabulous floral stamps from Woodware.

I stamped and embossed the image onto parchment paper using Versamark ink and white embossing powder.
I then coloured the image on the reverse of the parchment using vibrant coloured inks.

The panel on this card has been created in the same manner only this time with the addition of some dry embossing.
I did some white work on the reverse of the parchment and added a frame using one of my groovi plates.
I managed another trip to the gym today. Twice in one week that's pretty amazing for me just at the moment.
Thanks for stopping by.

Happy Wedding Day

 Hi All,

I recently had another wedding card commission. This time for a young couple who love nature and the sea.

I used one of my large Tonic floral frame dies to create the focal point of the card, layered over a piece of background paper from my stash. By happy accident the wording on the paper also refers to the sea.
I cut the frame from pale blue and ivory card stock
and then slightly off set the images in the center of the card.
I used a tiny floral die to add some extra embellishments to the frame.
The center of the panel is a stamped and embossed frame designed by Jane Gill, to which I added some assorted pearls.
Of course any card is made more special with the addition of the recipients names.
As you know I never know quite what I'm going to end up with until I start to play, so as I had some left over bits and pieces to use up, I made another card for my stash.
Not quite as fancy,
and obviously not personalized, but I'm sure that it will find a home one day.
I've finally managed to get the last of my samples finished, for Jane's next release, so it's off to the Post Office for me tomorrow afternoon.
Thanks for stopping by.

Bubble Wreath

Evening All,

Another scorcher today, although it has thankfully ended with a bit of rain. Not as much as I would have hoped with the thunder rumbling around, and certainly not enough to affect the temperature at all. I'm not sure that I will cope if the whole of the summer is this hot.

I hid indoors on Sunday and finished off cards from Saturdays classes on Jane's fabulous Festive Bubble stamps.
They are a marvelous way of using up all those odd gems and glitter glues that you have kicking about.
I also used the die that is available to cut faux candi from the same silver card stock that I used for the matt to the panel.
Although this stamp is part of the festive collection, I'm sure you will agree that it works for any occasion.
I must be out of my tiny mind meeting up with a friend at the gym today. The trouble is that now she is retired she seems to have become busier than ever, and this was the only way and time that we could get together this week. They do say that retirees wonder how they ever found time to go to work, and she definitely fits that profile lol.
Thanks for stopping by.

Who Doesn't Love a Twofer

Afternoon All,

I hope that you are all having a fabulous Bank Holiday weekend, just a shame that the weather isn't up to much. Still I suppose that's par for the course for an English Bank Holiday weekend lol.

Who doesn't love a Twofer? Two cards for the price of one. It's always a good option and a great way to use up bits and pieces. I do hate to waste anything.
I used a floral shaped circle die to create my window for this card. I dry embossed the outer panel and added some distress inks to the edges which helps to highlight the embossing.
The background to the 'window' has been created using a piece of card stamped and embossed in black and sponged with Distress inks. I splattered the panel with some water to give some added interest.
I ran the die cut 'waste' from the first card through a floral embossing folder and then added inks.
Always dry emboss after die cutting your shape so as not to flatten the embossed pattern.
Of course this may be the effect that you are going for, slightly more subtle embossing.
Or you might just have forgotten to die cut first, like me. Still a little bit of gilding polish helps the pattern to show up.
Better get on. I've got some tidying up to do before I can start on the next round of samples. It's all part of my creative process, as bizarre as it sounds. I have to sort out, tidy up and clear away everything from the previous things that I have been working on, and then once everywhere is clear I start to make a mess again. I'm sure that I'm not the only one that does that. My craft room needs to be clean and tidy for a few minutes at least.
Have a great afternoon.
