Christmas Stockings to get me in the mood for samples

Afternoon All,

Time for a few Christmas cards.

As you know I babysit the littlest Grandchildren every other weekend so that Mum can go to work. I love spending time with them, but manage very little in the way of crafting, so this time I decided that I would take some watercolouring with me. I had a few more of these Christmas stockings to colour.

The Girls love to join in, as does Jack to be fair, so I let them colour a couple of the images each.

They loved using the Irridescent paint palettes that I had taken with me, and then they chose a couple of embossing folders for their backgrounds.

I am turning them in to cards, which I would have done already had I not stupidly left them behind when I came home on Sunday. Never mind, now they will be able to finish them off with me when I go there next weekend.

Here are my efforts,

complete with embossed background panels.

I added kraft foam behind the stamped panels to give added dimension.

As always a bit of gilding wax helps to highlight the embossing on the black panel.

I'm hoping that Jane will be pleased with what the Girls and I have done with her Stockings in a Row stamp set. It is definitely lovely to colour.

While we are on the subject of Christmas stockings here are another couple of cards that I made from bits and pieces I found in my Christmas box.

This one combines another of Jane's stamps, foliage this time, with a Magenta Christmas stocking.

I have to get into Christmas mode this weekend since I have Christmas samples to make so this is to get me in the mood.

Paper Cuts Floral Edger Die

Evening All,

There is another new launch over at Creative Expressions today, and this time it some fabulous Paper Cuts Floral Edger dies, a couple of which I was lucky enough to get to play with.

This one is CEDPC1163 Iris, and it is perfect for some paper piecing.

I used scraps of green and white card having first trimmed the panel and layered it onto a white card which had background text stamped onto it.

As you can see I was having fun with some blue mop up backgrounds from my stash. They look fabulous whether they are used to die cut the image as here.

Or used as a background for for a plain white die cut.

Plain black and white with a pop of colour is another suggestion.

And for this final card I lay my white die cut onto a sticker sheet. A bit more paper piecing and then some gilding flakes to finish things off.

More Echinacea and Moth with steps

 Evening All,

Another really cold day. So here are a couple more cards from Jane's new stamp release........I did say that I liked this stamp set lol.

I was asked to provide step by step instructions for this card, so I thought that I would share them here with you too.

Steps:

1. Paint a piece of kraft card with Mushroom Matt Chalk paint and leave to dry.

2. Stamp and emboss Echinacea and moth onto a piece of watercolour card.

3. Paint the watercolour card with plenty of water and then ‘drop’ the pigment stain inks onto the images. The embossing acts as a resist and helps to keep the ink inside the lines. Leave to dry.

4. Apply crackle glaze to the piece of kraft card with the chalk paint on it. Make sure to apply the glaze in one direction only and do not be tempted to go back over any area.

5. Fussy cut the echinacea and moth and add them to the crackled panel using Cosmic Shimmer glue and foam tape.

6. Trim the panel around the coloured images and add faux stitching using a ruler and black micron pen.

7. Add the panel to a card made from a sheet of Chestnut card stock.

8. Stamp and emboss the sentiment onto a scrap of watercolour card, trim and add to the card with foam tape.

The stamped, embossed and coloured panel was created in the same way for this card

I just trimmed round part of it and layered it over a piece of  embossed card highlighted with gilding wax.

The sentiment was taken from another of the stamps from this release JGS679 Fuzzy Friends - Hugo.

Let's hope that these brought a little bit of sunshine into a cold a dismal day.

Echinacea by Jane

Evening All,

Today sees the launch of a new set of stamps from Woodware designed by Jane Gill.

There is always a stamp that is a favourite in any of the releases, and I think that this one is mine JGS765 Echinacea and Moth.

I stamped and embossed the fabulous flower onto a piece of mop up background and then painted it with inks from one of the Cosmic Shimmer Iridescent Watercolour Palettes.

Jane will be on the TV soon with her new designs, so I had better get on with some more samples.

Happy Easter Weekend (picture heavy post)

 Evening All,

I hope that you have all had a fabulous Easter Weekend. Here we are on Bank Holiday Monday, and I still haven't shared my Easter cards with you. So here they all are.

I don't usually do Easter cards but I think that people need something to smile about this year so I reached for my LOTV Simply print designs. 

I purchased this fabulous layering die set by Memory box after seeing Jennifer McGuire use it.

Of course as with any die you end up with loads of 'bits' which seem far too good to throw away, so I did a bit of paper piecing.

As you can see I still have load left over, but I'm not sure that I have the patience to do anything with them. Maybe I could use them in a shaker card. What do you think?

A Promise Made Good - now with pictures

Evening All,

Well I made good on my Pinky Promise to take the kids for a bike ride today, and we definitely didn't need our coats, the weather has been glorious.

They also spent a long time in the garden on the trampoline and making 'soup' out of grass and stones....................the wonders of a childs imagination.

They also very kindly brought me home after a lovely roast dinner. 

One minute we were being serenaded, at the top of their voices, with songs from Trolls and the next we had three very sleepy people.

Back to work tomorrow, I wonder if it will be as busy as last week.

A Pinky Promise

Evening All,

We have had a lovely day today, even if it was rather chilly at the park. Our fortnightly treat when I am looking after the Grandbabies is a trip to the Costa in the village for baby hot chocolates for them and a very large coffee for me to drink in the park while they play.

Once we had come home and had lunch (watching Jennifer McGuire on Youtube) the Girls decided that they wanted to colour some of the images that I had brought with me to finish off.

I only had one waterbrush with me, so they had to take it in turns,

Chloe watched Emma intently until it was her turn and then did a fabulous job.

They both finished two panels each which I am going to turn into cards for them.

Chloe also drew some pictures in a card for my Mum. Her people nearly all have a belly button, or so she told me as she was drawing each one, and it looks as if Mum has overindulged on the the gin lol.

I have promised that they can go for a ride on their bikes tomorrow, even if it is raining. And I have had to 'pinky promise' so I can't get out of it.

Happy Good Friday

 Evening All,

I hope that you have all had a wonderful Friday. If I didn't know any different, I would swear that all lockdown restrictions had been lifted this week, since once again we were stupidly busy at work.

It felt like it used to be on a Bank Holiday with all the tills going and a queue going right out the door of the shop. Now I know we operate the Traffic Light system which restricts the number of customers inside at any one time, but the lights seemed to be red (which keeps the doors closed until a customer leaves allowing a customer in to take their place) most of the time and there was a constant queue at the tills. So to be honest I am shattered and just not up to writing anything coherent tonight. I need to join the army of snorers that are currently competing for the top prize for the loudest snore.

My little bestie is currently in the lead, but I am about to join in lol.

You Always Sparkle

Evening Everyone,

April 1st, how did that happen? The weeks seem to be disappearing far too quickly, it will be Christmas again before we know it lol. Although to be fair there are some Christmas stamps on their way to me so maybe that snow that they are predicting for next week might be useful to get me into the zone.

There are only a few more days to go till the launch of Jane's next stamp designs next week, so here is a card made for the last release to get you in the mood.

I used the fabulous Mini Floral Wonder stamp and the Carnival Brights Iridescent Watercolour Palette to colour the flowers and leaves.

I used an embossing folder on the black strip along the center of the card,

and another on the base card. The sentiments are from another of Jane's stamp sets with a little bit of fussy cutting.

We have been manically busy today at work. It certainly didn't feel like we are in the middle of a lock down even with the relaxation of some of the rules. I wonder if it will be as busy tomorrow? Better get some shut eye just in case. Besides which it is my weekend to babysit the Grandkids so I will need to be well rested :O)
