Layering Stamps and Dies

Evening,

I'm so glad that it's Friday, and tomorrow we have a crafty get together. Our last class before Christmas saw us playing with Altenew Layering stamps and dies.

I do love the Altenew layering stamps, they make colouring images so easy especially if you are not very confident with it like me.

I used my stamping platform/Misti to create several similar floral images.

There are co-ordinating dies available which makes the cutting out so much easier. I'm all for anything that makes crafting quicker and easier, and there are lots of tips out there from people like Jennifer McGuire.

I layered my die cut leaves and flowers onto a piece of handmade background from my stash.

Even one flower is enough to create a simple yet elegant card.

More handmade background paper and a diecut wreath along with a stamped and embossed sentiment.

Better go and get packed up for class tomorrow. I always worry that I will forget something.

A morning of Crafting

Evening All,

There is a small aerodrome in Headcorn, and they have been celebrating the Battle of Britain this weekend. The planes fly right over Becki's house, so we have spent the afternoon darting in and out to catch a glimpse of the amazing old aircraft flying above us. Typically every time I rush out with my camera I am too late to get any decent photos.

Chloe decided that she would be an airplane and I could take a photo of her instead.

The kids spent a couple of happy hours this morning stamping and painting.

Jack of course wanted to be as big as the Girls.

I have given them some sparkly watercolour paint palettes, which they love to use.

We stamped out several sheets of images which we will die cut tomorrow now they are dry.

Jack lost interest fairly early on, but the Girls spent ages painting.

Of course the day started with Chloe's usual request to 'watch Jennifer', so we had the wonderful Jennifer McGuire on in the background while we crafted. I have tried to get a picture of them watching her for ages, and this was the best I could do for now.

I need to get to bed now since I am bound to have a couple of early morning visitors lol.

Split Colouring inspired by Jennifer McGuire

Evening,

Thank goodness full lockdown was this time last year when, if nothing else, the weather was kind to us. Can you imagine following all those rules without being able to get out in the sunshine for a walk.

Let's hope that we can soon meet up indoors, even if it is only 6 of us, because it is far too cold for us oldies to sit outside for any length of time without being chilled to the marrow.

We are still trying to decide on what to do as a first class once we can finally get back to them. 

I for one can't wait.

Here are a few cards that we made in a class, what seems like ages ago.

Inspired by Jennifer McGuire, they are a great way of getting two finished cards,

from one coloured image.

She refers to this as a Split Colouring Technique which gives you two-cards-for-one.

It also works just as well with a Christmas design.

Any technique that gives me two-cards-for-one is a good one in my books lol.

I'm sure that all the new rules will be listed in the newspapers tomorrow, so I think I will just wait till then, I'm too tired to look them up on the internet.

Happy Easter Weekend (picture heavy post)

 Evening All,

I hope that you have all had a fabulous Easter Weekend. Here we are on Bank Holiday Monday, and I still haven't shared my Easter cards with you. So here they all are.

I don't usually do Easter cards but I think that people need something to smile about this year so I reached for my LOTV Simply print designs. 

I purchased this fabulous layering die set by Memory box after seeing Jennifer McGuire use it.

Of course as with any die you end up with loads of 'bits' which seem far too good to throw away, so I did a bit of paper piecing.

As you can see I still have load left over, but I'm not sure that I have the patience to do anything with them. Maybe I could use them in a shaker card. What do you think?

Mica Techniques Inspired by Jennifer McGuire

Evening All,

As you know I am a big fan of Jennifer McGuire, as are my littlest Grandchildren, so here are a few cards inspired by something that I saw on her blog a while ago. 

They were made for a class on Mica powders.

I love this dotty effect on the leaves.

I will have to try and find the post where Jennifer showed how to achieve this particular technique.

These were made during the same class using some Altenew stamps and a pearlized stamp layering technique.

I think this was the Mica Removal Technique, but I have found various clips on YouTube that Jennifer has done HERE. They are all fabulous, so settle yourself down with a cuppa and prepare to be inspired. The problem is then finding enough time to play.

Better get to bed, it back to work for me tomorrow.

She reminds me of Alice in Wonderland

 Evening All,

It's been another glorious day here, warm enough to go out for a walk without our coats this afternoon.

We went and met Mum from work again today, and the Girls were looking at all the spring flowers that we could see and were asking what they were all called. Quite a test of my knowledge, not that they would know if I got them wrong of course.

This lovely stamp from Paper Panda rather remind me of Alice in Wonderland,

and put me in mind of our nature walk today.

Another thing that they all enjoyed doing was watching Jennifer McGuire on Youtube. They sat on the bed with me this morning to watch on my computer, and then asked for it on the TV when we went downstairs. Definitely budding crafters in the making.

Emma has already made a list of the things for me to bring next time so that we can have fun with a gelli plate after she watched a couple of Jennifer's clips. I am looking forward to that and I think that she and Chloe will have a great time. I expect that even Jack will want to get in on the act as well.

I think the fresh air and sunshine did them the world of good today as they were all sound asleep pretty quickly. Mum however was less than impressed by all the people who came in to work and reminded her of how nice it was outside!!!
Let's hope that it continues with the nice weather tomorrow, we could certainly do with it to make us all feel better.

Just for You Michele and all of 'The Crafties'

 Evening Everyone,

As I have said before it is always difficult deciding what card to share with you.

Sometimes I take inspiration from something that I see on Facebook or a challenge blog or tonight from a question that a crafty friend asked me today on Whatsapp.

Michele sent a picture of something that she found in her craft box and asked if anyone remembered how she made it since it was done in a class. I put her out of her misery, it was made using Alcohol inks and the Alcohol Lift ink pad, and she has promised to share what she makes with it when we next get together on Zoom.

Like her's, my image uses this fabulous Penny Black stamp which works so beautifully with the Alcohol Lift Ink Pad. It was very much a favourite stamp, and technique for that matter, from 2019 and got plenty of use HERE and HERE

I am no good with tutorials. I have way too much fun playing and forget to take pictures while I am working so I will direct you to my go to place for all things crafty Jennifer McGuire's Youtube  and BLOG.

The background on this card also uses alcohol inks just using a stencil this time.

'The Crafties' and I have definitely decided that this class will need to be repeated, once we are able to get back to classes. We are all missing them very much since most of the ladies live on their own so a class on a Saturday with plenty of likeminded company, crafty things to play with, coffee......oh and of course cake was possibly the highlight of their week.

My class suggestion list is getting longer by the minute, so let's hope we can get together soon. In the meantime we will just have to put up with show and tell over a zoom session lol.

Off Set Inked Pine Cones.

Evening,
I've been travelling on the train today to visit my youngest daughter and the littlest Grandbabies for a few days.
It takes a couple of hours, so it is always a good opportunity to catch up with a couple of Jennifer McGuire's Youtube videos. I have to say that she is my 'Go To' place for inspiration, I always manage to add another idea to my ever growing list of things to try.

This card was inspired by just one such video on Off Set Inking. 

It manages to give the image a fabulous 3D feel.

I tried a slightly different 'offset' for the second card,

and I'm really not sure which one I like the best.
Let's see what more ideas I can get from good old Jennifer,
