Black and Gold and Gilded

Evening,

I do love Black and gold, it is such a classy colour combo.

Of course a great way to add gold to a card is with Gilding Flakes and DSSSheets. I used a rose die on the black cardstock and then added the gilding flakes once I had attached the panel to the sticker paper.

Same idea here along with a large background die and stamped sentiment.
I used a fabulous old peel-off and some gems on this card.
I have various tubs of Gilding flakes including this one that combines gold and silver for a more subtle look. Once again I used a die cut and stamped the sentiment with Cosmic Shimmer Flake and Glitter Glue before adding the flakes. This glue means that any stamp can be used with the flakes.
I inlaid a couple of diecut leaves to this embossed panel.
I ended up with various small strips when I trimmed the gilded panels, so I used them behind this stamped and fussy cut floral image. Waste not want not as they say, or sad horder as my kids call me lol.

Thanks for stopping by.

Butterfly Bubble Wreath

Evening Everyone,

Here's another wreath card made using one of Jane's new Festive Bubble Stamps.

I do love the fact that this stamp works every bit as well for a birthday card as it does for Christmas.
I stamped and embossed the leafy wreath on to a piece of mop up background
and then added some faux candi and gems.
I also added a fussy cut butterfly and stamped and die cut sentiment.
I used the rest of the piece of mop up for this card. Who said that you had to use the whole of the image?
I used bleach on the larger circles to remove the colour, , and then added glossy accents, gems and pearls along with another fussy cut butterfly.

Thanks for stopping by.

Paper Cuts Floral Edger Die

Evening All,

There is another new launch over at Creative Expressions today, and this time it some fabulous Paper Cuts Floral Edger dies, a couple of which I was lucky enough to get to play with.

This one is CEDPC1163 Iris, and it is perfect for some paper piecing.
I used scraps of green and white card having first trimmed the panel and layered it onto a white card which had background text stamped onto it.
As you can see I was having fun with some blue mop up backgrounds from my stash. They look fabulous whether they are used to die cut the image as here.
Or used as a background for for a plain white die cut.
Plain black and white with a pop of colour is another suggestion.
And for this final card I lay my white die cut onto a sticker sheet. A bit more paper piecing and then some gilding flakes to finish things off.
I hope that you have as much fun with these dies as I have.
Thanks for stopping by.
Stay safe and hugs

So much easier than Fussy Cutting.

Afternoon All,

We have been having some crafty time at the Grandbabies today. There have been crayons and punches and some sort of gooey stuff that an Uncle gave them, but what ever it was, they all had fun.

And Mummy finally got to play too.

Like most of us crafters she has equipment that has never seen the light of day. Three small kids is not very conducive to anything other than washing, ironing, cooking, and, as she puts it, generally keeping them alive lol. So today we finally got around to letting Mummy play. I bought her a Scan and Cut a while ago, but she was becoming frustrated by it cause it didn't seem to want to play. After watching Melanie Heaton's brilliantly instructive 'Watch, Learn and Create' USB we have discovered that it was operator error and she is once again full of enthusiasm for her new toy.

Of course I can see me asking her to do some fussy cutting for me, cause it would certainly be a lot quicker and easier.
Of course I would have to forward plan rather well, given that I only get to see her once a fortnight, but it would certainly make cutting out some of those lovely LOTV and Lee Holland images a lot easier.
These cards tonight all have this fabulous leafy image from Paper Panda as the focal image on them. All fussy cut by yours truly I hasten to add lol.
I appear to be surrounded by several rather sleepy people after all their efforts this morning, so I think I had better get them to help me with dinner before it gets too late for a snooze. I'm sure that we would all like a decent nights sleep, and not one that starts at midnight :O)
Hope you are having a great day.
Happy Crafting and hugs.

Paper Panda Fall

 Evening

I hope you caught Suz fabulous shows on Create and Craft today using the amazing new stamps from Paper Panda at Creative Expressions.

I love these stamps, they have such beautiful detail, and are very unusual.
I think this leaf has to be my favourite.
I used it here with sticky embossing powder and gilding flakes.
The background is created with inks and an embossing folder, and then I added a sentiment.
Thanks for stopping by.

Little Bands of Sunshine

Evening everyone,
Well the sun stayed shining today, in fact we even had to have the conservatory door open for a while during class, so that was good.
We had a wonderful time playing with Gilding Flakes today. You definitely don't want to sneeze while you are using them, or have a fan going lol.
I showed everyone various ways of using the flakes including Sticky Embossing powder which they have all previously struggled with.
The gold leaves on this card have been stamped with versamark and then coated with sticky embossing powder. There is definitely a knack to using it, and a few tips that I have picked up.
  •  Don't tap too hard after you have coated your image with the sticky powder, you want as much powder as possible to stick to your image. Any stray specks can be gently removed with a paintbrush. Using an anti static cloth before stamping can help.
  • The powder heats very quickly so make sure that your heat gun is very hot before you take it to the stamped image.
  • 'Chase the change' in the powder across your card. Don't be tempted to over heat it. Work systematically across your card moving the gun as soon as the powder changes.
  • Press the gilding flakes firmly onto the heated powder before removing the excess.
Adding Gilding Flakes to strips of DSST is just one of the many ways of using this product on a card.
These notecards were inspired by a tutorial from the lovely Jennifer McGuire that I found on YouTube.
One of the girls pointed out that they would make a nice box of cards to give to someone as a gift. And of course you may have already guessed that the first card was made with the left over panel from making these two notelets.
You know me, I can't stand to waste anything.
Hope you have a good weekend, and thanks for stopping by.

Celebrate a sell out.

Hi Everyone,
Did you watch Barbara on the TV today?
Well this is one of the cards that I made for that show, but I don't think that it got shown because the stamps all sold out in the first half hour before Barbara had even had a chance to do a demo with them.
How cool is that!!
The background to this card has once again been created using my trusty Gelli Plate, bubble wrap and some pearlescent inks that I found in my stash.
I have used stamps from the 'Wee Folk' Set 1  and Set 2 in the circles and ovals that have been added to the card.
Each of the images have been stamped and embossed using Sticky Embossing powder and then Gilding Flakes have been stuck to them.
This gives a lovely gilded, but raised image which unfortunately doesn't show up terribly well in the photos.
The sentiments are from a couple of the fabulous Word chains which Barbara has designed.
Why not check out the Clarity Artroom where you will find loads of fantastic samples.

A Gilded Daisy

Evening Everyone
I can't believe that it's Sunday evening already, even if I have had a very successful weekend filled with card making.
I'm actually even a little ahead in the game as I have managed to do most of the prep for my Quick Christmas card class at Davina's next Saturday.
Of course I have failed to take any pictures so you will have to be content with a card that I made a while ago using a Peel-off and some Gilding Flakes.
I added some background paper from my stash, Card Candi and also some shrivelled ribbon.
The tag has been dry embossed using a Cuttlebug folder.

All that Jazz

Evening Everyone
Another really quick post again tonight.Where does the time go to at the weekend?
One minute it was 5pm and I had plenty of time, and the next minute its 10.30 and I need to blog before I get to bed. Oh well!!
Another card made for Barbara's show this weekend. Unfortunately this one didn't get shown, and the pictures are not the best I'm afraid.
The 'Jazz' panels are made using a Sticky Ink pad and Gilding Flakes,
and the stamping in the background on the black card has been done using thin undiluted bleach.
Back tomorrow with a card for the new challenge over at Crafty Cardmakers, so I hope to see you then.

Why does Barbara make it look so easy??

Evening Everyone,
I survived another day at work, and now I have started a couple of days holiday.
Well I call it that but actually it is a chance to catch up on some DT 'work', definitely my kind of holiday lol.
First on my list of Things to Do is prepping for my class on Saturday where Davina has requested Gilding Flakes / Gold Leaf.
I confess that I don't play with this medium as often as I should, and now I remember why. I am covered in it!! Why does Barbara make it look so easy on the TV.
I'm actually quite glad that it hasn't been too warm today because I haven't had to have the fan on, which quite frankly would have been a disaster.
Sorry folks I'm wishing for dull and miserable on Saturday and then we won't have to have the windows open or the fans on then either lol.
As usual I got carried away with playing and haven't got around to finishing a card yet, so I thought that I would give you a sneak peek of my work desk instead.
Messy or what??
There is a fabulous blog where everyone can share Whats On Your Workdesk Wednesday (WOYWW).
It would be quite wrong of me to link tonights post as there is absolutely no way that I will find the time to stop in on everyone, but do have a look if you get the chance.
It is actually quite gratifying to see that I am not the only one who works in utter chaos.
Ciaran has his school assembly tomorrow morning and I have promised him that I will come and watch, if I am awake in time that is. At this rate I suspect that I will be watching it as filmed by Mum, I was quite looking forward to a bit of a lie in.
That's a point I must remember to turn off my alarm, it's set for 5am!!
Off to bed now, I have a busy day ahead of me.
Night night.
