Bleedin Art Tissue - Part 2

Evening,

Yesterday I shared several cards made using Bleedin Art Tissue. 

Once the ink has been bled from the tissue onto cardstock you are left with some pieces of tissue which have the most amazing patterns on them. Along with the majority of hardcore crafters I hate waste, and so here are a few cards made with some of that patterned tissue stuck onto some DSSSticker sheet.

I stamped and embossed onto this piece,

and then used thin undiluted bleach to remove the colour from the embossed image.

Another piece that I stamped and embossed onto once the tissue was stuck to the sticker sheet.

Just a small strip on this card........I told you that I can't stand waste. I added a little gilding wax to this which highlights the fabulous texture in the paper.

An incredibly old card here, probably made during my first encounter with Bleedin Art tissue way back in the days of The Craft Barn and fabulous wood mounted stamps from Magenta. I might just add a die cut sentiment to this one. They weren't around when this was made!!

Bleach

Evening All,

Well it looks like blink and you missed the sunny weather. We are definitely back to cold and dreary, here at least. Still at least it's not snowing...........yet.

Todays cards, and there are lots of them, have been created using one of my all time favourite techniques, and it's so cheap and easy too. Good old fashioned BLEACH.

I do find that cheap thin bleach works best for this.

You need a stamped and embossed image to colour in. The heat embossing acts as a natural resist and allows the bleach to stay within the lines, unless you add too much that is.

Any image that you can colour works for this technique so I have chosen some lovely floral images with nice open flowers, just right for colouring.

You do have to be choosy with cardstock since not all card will bleach, so it's like doing your patch test for hair dye. Apply a little bleach to the corner of the card and see if it changes colour. Applying heat can often help and you are sometimes rewarded with some surprising results. I have blue card that bleaches out to a beautiful pink.

Another way of using bleach is to stamp with it as in the background of this card.

You need to create a stamp pad using several layers of kitchen paper or a piece of Cut'n Dry felt.

Add bleach to the pad and use it with your stamps like you would any ink pad.

You can use any of your stamps, but the one thing I can't stress enough is that you MUST clean your stamps after using them with bleach.

I've got stamps that are still perfectly OK even after 20 years because I cleaned them straight after using them with bleach. Normally, as any of my crafty pals will tell you, I vary rarely clean my stamps. If it's good enough for Tim Holtz then it's good enough for me.

Bleach is useful for removing the colour from dark cardstock so that you can then paint the image with colours that will show up.

Bleach will even work with alcohol inked backgrounds although I found that I usually had to heat it and for some reason it usually turns green.

I'm sorry for the rather picture heavy post, but as you can see I do rather like this technique.

I've Been So Good Santa

 Evening All,

Another productive day. I have a couple of little people's birthdays next month and I have very few cards in my stash for that age so it was time to finish off a few bits and pieces.

I also managed to finish a couple of Christmas cards that I started for my good friend Gill's challenge on Facebook a couple of weeks ago.

Woodware have produced several of these fabulous large word stamps over the years,

and they are just perfect for a bit of Paper Piecing which is what Gill was looking for.

I also found this panel in my Christmas bits box from several years ago using a wonderful Magenta stamp and some background paper.

Another card from my stash, this one uses another old stamp and some red paper for the poinsettia.

And I also found this card amongst my stash which also uses paper piecing for the young man's outfit.

All in all a very successful weekend. Let's hope I can keep it up.

I'm Back With Love

Evening Everyone,
I'm back. Have you missed me?
I'm sorry I have been MIA lately but the bloody Internet has been out of action, in my house at least.
That will teach us to vacuum. We must have been a little too vigorous and dislodged a couple of wires in the connection. Fortunately we were able to track down the problem ourselves before getting an engineer involved, but it has taken quite a while to fix.
And there I was being so good with my daily blog posts as well, so I will have to try and get back in to the swing of it all again.
One of the numerous things I have missed  over the last few weeks was the last challenge over at CCM where Lin  was looking for Love, Love, Love.

Many years ago I was lucky enough to have a project published in a (then) new magazine Card Making and Papercraft. I was tasked with making a card, box and gift tag and although I have long since given the card to someone I was left with the box and tag.

I did a little bit of upcycling for the these cards by cutting up the box (this is part of the lid)

 and remounting the gift tag.

Of course I stupidly forgot to take a picture of the box and tag before I started to cut them up so you will just have to use your imagination I'm afraid.

These last cards were all made using the panels that I placed around the lid of the box.

The stamped images are all part of a wonderful old Magenta stamp which was embossed onto red card stock.

The hearts and flowers have been painted with thin undiluted bleach and the gold hearts along the centre of the card are from a piece of embossed gold card.
Lets hope that the Internet is kind to me and I can get back to my regular posts.

Sketch 57 for WoodwareWitterings, Take Two

Hi Guys
I'm back again with another take on the Sketch over at WoodwareWitterings.

This time I used an old Magenta floral stamp.

I stamped and embossed it onto a piece of card and then painted the flowers with Masking Fluid.

Once the fluid is dry I used a brayer to cover the image with dye based ink.

Rub the masking fluid away with your finger to reveal a white image. By using the masking fluid the colours that you paint the image with remain true and uncontaminated by the background brayering.

Once again I used FRCL080 Mixed Greetings stamped and embossed on to kraft card and painted with brown dye based ink.

Thank You for Everything

Evening Everyone,
I spent a wonderful, if rather emotional day in Peterboro yesterday.
I went up for the final opening of SirStampalots bricks and mortar shop.

Of course I had to make a card for the occasion.

 I used a wonderful old Magenta stamp that I had used in a demo there a while ago.

 I sponged the white embossed images with dye based inks,

 and then painted the flowers to highlight them.

The central panel has been diecut and mounted onto the card using silicon.
Janice was playing guess the sentiment stamp, which I'm afraid nobody won cause I can't remember who makes it lol.
Fortunately the business will be continuing on line, which is the best news, so I will still be able to shop.
They are also hoping that in the spring, when they have had a chance to settle into their new premises, they will still have occasional classes and demo days along with a pop up shop. So I am confident that I will still be able to visit.
The place was heaving with old friends who had all come to say their farewells, and watch the lovely Michelle demo all things Stix2.
There was lots of yummy food, all bad for you, and plenty of coffee. And also the most amazing cake, which was very hard to photograph.

All the craft items were made of icing but looked real enough to use.

I would like to think that Janice and Andy have been having a well earned rest today, but I know that the reality is that they have been busy packing up and moving things into their new unit.
So here's to many more happy years as an on-line business, and a heartfelt thank you for everything that they have done for me when I have visited , demoed and shopped with them.
Good Luck with your new venture Guys, you deserve it.

A Woodware Sketch

Evening Everyone,
We have a new challenge over at Woodware this week, and I must start my post with a huge apology to Dorothy.
Firstly I am soooooooooo late with it again, and secondly I have used an old Magenta stamp that is no longer available through Woodware. So sorry Dorothy, did you think that I had forgotten?
With time at a premium right now I searched through my bits box for some thing to use as the focal point of my card.

What I found were some lovely bits of background card, all created using alcohol inks, glossy card stock, and said Magenta stamp.

I decided that as there were three bits of background, than I should finish off three more cards for my box.

I have added some stardust pen to this panel.

 The floral image on this panel has been painted with bleach to take out a little of the colour.

 A few tiny gems are the finishing touches on this card.
Once again I apologise for the lateness of the post and hope that you like my take on the current sketch.

Twas the Night Before Christmas at CCM&More

Hi All
Well it seems that my fabulous crafty weekend with late night playtime has finally caught up with me.
This was supposed to be posted on Monday, but I keep getting side tracked (aka falling asleep at the computer lol), so my apologies.
We have another lovely challenge for you at CCM&More.
Lin is our host and she is asking for your project to depict a line from the poem 'Twas the Night before Christmas'.
We have printed the whole poem on the blog in case you are unsure, but PLEASE don't forget to tell us which line your creation depicts.

I had a rummage through my Christmas bits box and found this fabulous Magenta image that I coloured several years ago when I was demoing for Janice and Andy at the NEC.

The stockings are rather vibrant, and I added some glossy accents for extra dimension.

The background has been embossed using a brick wall folder and then gently highlighted using Imagination Alchemy wax.
I added some diecut icicles and glitter glue.
As I didn't have an appropriate stamp I hand wrote the line that my card depicts, 'The stockings were hung by the chimney with care.'
