Floral Thanks

Evening Everyone,

What on earth has happened to the summer? I can't believe how chilly it has felt today. Much more like October than August in my humble opinion lol.

While prepping for my Chalk class on Saturday, I came across several cards that I had already stamped with a large Thank You text stamp.

I obviously had something in mind when I stamped them, but I can't for the life of me remember what, so they seemed perfect as a backdrop for some chalked floral images.
I do love all the fabulous colours that you can achieve with chalks, and they work particularly well with this solid type of image. I added a bold die cut sentiment to stand out from the background.
As I told you I make a tag for the class, and this was what I created as my visual reminder of what to do with chalks.
I need an early night tonight as I start my week of babysitting and school runs tomorrow. I can see that I will probably need a week off to recover lol.

Thanks for stopping by.

I'm Back with Edger Dies

Hi All,

Sorry I've been AWOL for the last couple of days, but with the Internet acting up, a few lines and no pictures was the best that I could manage on my phone.

We had a fabulous day on Saturday, playing with all sorts of edger dies.

This card was inspired by some of the samples that Jamie Rodgers showed on the TV a while ago, which I rewatched as part of my class prep.
I had promised myself that I wouldn't play with any of my dies when I got home, since I had so much that needed to be done this weekend. As usual I failed miserably in my resolve lol.
I just couldn't resist making this card. I took my Airless Misters for the Girls to play with along with the dies, and they are what I used to create the background for this card. I also used one of the pearlescent colours on the cream frame.
I used this die with an embossing mat, and then coloured the reverse of the image with some distress inks.
I trimmed around the edge of the die by hand since I had chosen to emboss rather than die cut.
I also added a little gold gilding wax, some gems and a stamped and gold embossed sentiment.
It's always nice to find an alternative use for your dies, to stretch the use of your supplies.
I finished my tag in class, using the same die, this time in the way that it was intended. I layered it over a piece of background paper from my stash, trimming around the edge with a pair of scissors, and then added a die cut and stamped sentiment.

I'm pleased to say that I managed to get a couple of other things finished, although possibly not as much as I would have liked. Still tomorrow is another day, as the saying goes lol.

BTW don't forget to set your recorders for Jane's shows on Create and Craft tomorrow at 10.30am and 5.15pm. She will be showcasing her new Festive Fuzzy stamps which I'm sure you will love.

Thanks for stopping by.

Wax Paper Resist and Embossing Folders

Hi All
Well I've made it through my eight straight days at work, and here I am facing the start of another week. Where on earth did those 2 days off go. (In fact I have just finished a day of work since once again this post got side lined !!!!)
Sorry I have been absent for a while, this post has been started about 5 times, and then much like any cardmaking  last week, a 'granny nap' took over.
Not that I don't have plenty of things that I can share with you, given how quiet I have been in Blogland just lately, in fact I could really do with blogging twice a day in a bid to catch up with things.
We had another fabulous class at Davina's on Saturday, and this time I didn't break the iron so no thinking  on my feet, we were able to play with Waxed Paper and Embossing folders.
Once again I got a little bit carried away with the samples so I think that I will split them up into a couple of posts or this will end up like War and Peace.
As usual we made a technique tag to add to their book, and in fact this time they made two so that they could remember what to do with the left over waxed paper (tag far left)
The background to this card was made using a fab Sheena embossing folder, waxed paper and kaleidacolour inks.
I added some matching punched leaves and some stamped flowers along with a Hobby Art sentiment.
This card was made with another panel of the background,
punched leaves, stamped flowers and a different Hobby Art sentiment.
I also found a few matching gems.
The beauty of this technique is that if you sandwich your embossed waxed paper between two pieces of card before you iron it you get the positive and negative image transered to the card stock.
I placed a strip of both the positive and negative background onto one of the tags,
and the other tag had a left over piece of the waxed paper coloured with stazon inks after the wax had been removed.
The sentiment has been added by stamping it onto acetate using Stazon ink and then attaching it with a fine line of glitter glue around the edges.
I think I had better press  publish on this before yet another day goes past.
Hugs, and Happy Monday.

Ghosting or Resist

Hi All
I hope that you are having a great weekend. I must admit that I am thoroughly enjoying the rain that is currently falling. I know you will all hate me for it, but it is late and you can't do anything much outside in the dark so I am making the most of the fact that it is slightly cooler.
As predicted we had a fabulous class today at Davina's, with a couple of new faces as well which was wonderful.
It was extremely hot so we had several fans going and a cloth rigged up over the conservatory doors to try and cut down on some of the direct sunshine.
This is the tag that I made to add to my Technique book.
I give them printed instructions on the technique we are covering to add to the back of the tag, but for you guys there is always a great tutorial over at Splitcoast Stampers.
I have more DT stuff to work on tomorrow so maybe now it is a little cooler I will get a better nights sleep.

Stamped Bargello

Evening Everyone
I hope that you have had a good day.
I had another fabulous class at Davina's.
Who knew you could have so much fun with some strips of paper and double sided sticky tape!!
My good friend Gill was back from her hols so there was also plenty of coffee, good conversation, and she brought some fabulous biccies which we all ate far too many of. All in all a fantastic way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
The class this week was on Bargello which I did many years ago with tapestry thread but which I was recently reacquainted with over at Technique Time Tuesday where Mynnette explains the technique using paper.
As usual they started the class with a tag for their book, complete with instruction sheet.
I added some vellum, which as I explained to the Girls is always great for covering up any bad stamping.
The left over portion of my Bargello panel has been used to create this card.
The stamp is from Stampendous and was definitely one of those 'I have to have' purchases.
Alright, I know they are all a bit like that, but this one was top of my list when the new catalogue came out.
I stamped and embossed the image onto the Bargello panel and then used the tree part of the stamp on the right hand side of the Kraft card.
I think that this makes a great 'Man's card'.
I would like to enter this into the following challenge
Tuesday Throwdown - Make your own Background
Boy, look at the time, I had better close now, I have another full days crafting tomorrow. It's a hard life isn't it lol.

Technique Tag No 2

Evening Everyone
Here we are at the beginning of another weekend. I can't believe we will be in February at the end of next week, soon be Christmas :O)
We will be creating our second Technique Tag at Davina's tomorrow, weather permitting of course!
The Ladies will be working with the fabulous Magenta stamp Retro Romance 37.257Q to create a card for a Valentine, Anniversary or Wedding.
The original idea for the class came from the card I posted a couple of weeks ago (Vintage Hearts and Love) and so the Tag focuses on stamping and embossing in Gold and then sponging and colouring using Distress Inks. There is also a recap on the Faux Stitching and how to 'shrivel' Organza Ribbon.
Of course I had to have a play with some of the left over bits and came up with this card which they can also copy if they prefer.
I used the same stamp only this time I stamped and embossed in White before sponging. I also only used part of the image.
The hearts have been coloured using Pearlex which has made them difficult to photograph.
An Embossing Folder, lace border punch, swirl, dotty ribbon and pearls, what more could you want for a romantic gesture.
Just one more year to go in my Photographic organisation from my blog posts so I think I will try and get that finished tonight so I can have some guilt free crafting tomorrow.
