Just a Note

Evening,

I've spent a very productive day clearing the decks of crafty projects in preparation for a parcel from the lovely Janice from SirStampalot. I'm helping her out with some samples so it was good to get a few things finished so that I could get the old brain cells working on what she is sending me.

Here are a couple of cards made a while ago for a class on stencils and pastes.
I used the brick wall stencil and some texture paste over the top of some stamped background paper.
The tulips are a layering stamp set from Altenew which also has a co-ordinating die.
Same idea and layout just a different stencil for this card.
Off to bed now, much later than it should be given my early start tomorrow, but it can't be helped.
Thanks for stopping by.

I'm Back with Edger Dies

Hi All,

Sorry I've been AWOL for the last couple of days, but with the Internet acting up, a few lines and no pictures was the best that I could manage on my phone.

We had a fabulous day on Saturday, playing with all sorts of edger dies.

This card was inspired by some of the samples that Jamie Rodgers showed on the TV a while ago, which I rewatched as part of my class prep.
I had promised myself that I wouldn't play with any of my dies when I got home, since I had so much that needed to be done this weekend. As usual I failed miserably in my resolve lol.
I just couldn't resist making this card. I took my Airless Misters for the Girls to play with along with the dies, and they are what I used to create the background for this card. I also used one of the pearlescent colours on the cream frame.
I used this die with an embossing mat, and then coloured the reverse of the image with some distress inks.
I trimmed around the edge of the die by hand since I had chosen to emboss rather than die cut.
I also added a little gold gilding wax, some gems and a stamped and gold embossed sentiment.
It's always nice to find an alternative use for your dies, to stretch the use of your supplies.
I finished my tag in class, using the same die, this time in the way that it was intended. I layered it over a piece of background paper from my stash, trimming around the edge with a pair of scissors, and then added a die cut and stamped sentiment.

I'm pleased to say that I managed to get a couple of other things finished, although possibly not as much as I would have liked. Still tomorrow is another day, as the saying goes lol.

BTW don't forget to set your recorders for Jane's shows on Create and Craft tomorrow at 10.30am and 5.15pm. She will be showcasing her new Festive Fuzzy stamps which I'm sure you will love.

Thanks for stopping by.

Happy Birthday Jack.....for last week.

Evening All,

I can't believe that it has already been a week since my youngest Grandson turned 2. Where has the time gone? I was lucky enough to be at his birth, which only seems such a short time ago.

I thought that I had better not leave it as long to share his birthday card this year, as I did his last one lol.

Once again I reached for my LOTV Simply Print images, they are just perfect for a quick card for a little one.
I found some co-ordinating background papers and die cut the image using various circular dies.
I still love the effect of leaving the die in place and sponging colour around the edge of the image to create a nice narrow white border and some shading. Some of the simplest techniques can give some of the best impact.
I like to personalize a card since it makes it so much more special.
Of course that is the beauty of having a stash of cards ready made, I can just add a name and age to it for instant personalization.
I printed out several different images before deciding on which one to use for Jack,
so of course I had to finish them all off as well.
I am trying very hard to use up bits and pieces from my stash.
It never seems to make any sort of dent in it all, but one step at a time.......or at least one piece of paper anyway.
It's my weekend to babysit, so we will have to celebrate his birthday, and Mother's Day, all over again.
We won't make Mummy make his cake again. Isn't she clever?
Jack hasn't quite mastered the art of blowing out candles,
but he shows the same grim determination when it comes to cutting his cake lol.
Off to pack my bag ready for tomorrow, so thanks for popping by to see me.
Have a great evening.

New challenge at Crafty Cardmakers

Evening,
Just a quickie tonight to tell you that we are back after our summer break with a brand new challenge at CraftyCardmakers.
Mary is our host, and she is looking for 'Things with Wings'.
This is a card I made a while ago for my Great Nephew using a cute little winged dragon that I found in my stash.
I fussy cut him and added him to a panel of matching paper. It's amazing what you can find in your stash when you start looking lol.
I love this huge Birthday die, it makes a lovely statement on a card.
I hope that you will find the time to join us over the next fortnight.
Stay safe and hugs

A Trio of Tags made into Cards

Hi All
As promised I am back with the cards that I made with the tags from the Woodware Trio of Tags blog post.
(see HERE)
I'm just sorry that it has taken me so long.
I have made the cards in the same style, just using different background papers from my stash.
This first one has just had the script panel stamped and embossed onto the background paper and then some faux stitching and Card Candi have been added.
This card uses a different piece of background paper which has also been stamped using the holly sprig as well as the script stamps.
This final card uses another background paper from my stash, the script stamp and some red Card Candi.
That's another three cards to add to my Christmas pile.
I really must update my totals at the top of the page but other things keep getting in the way, like unexpected visits from my littlest Granddaughter who just has to be cuddled lol.

Bamboo Resist with a Twist

Evening Everyone,
I hope that you have had a good weekend. Mine has been very productive.
I have very nearly finished my DT work for Hobby Art as well as finishing off all the bits and pieces from my class on Saturday.
I called it Embossed Resist with a Twist because the main Embossed Resist image (Hero Arts Bamboo stamp) has been stamped and embossed over the top of a script stamp, the 'twist' of the title.
Because the wording needs to be dry before it it stamped over I decided that it might be a lot easier for some if I used pre-printed background paper as an alternative.
After stamping and clear embossing the bamboo over the background paper I then sponged distress inks over this as well as spritzing the clean stamp with water and stamping onto the panel as well.
I also added a Hobby Art birthday greeting to the finished panel.
The blue background card has also been stamped and embossed, and I added a small panel of dry embossed card.
Although it is rather difficult to see there is also some Glimmer Mist spritzed onto it before I added the Card Candi.
We had such fun that we will be repeating the class on the 7th February for the Ladies that were unable to make it.
Can't believe it's Sunday evening already, better get some sleep if I can get my brain to shut down that is.
