Using Up Leftovers

Evening All.

I'm hoping that I can stay awake long enough to write this, I'm absolutely shattered. I  fell asleep in my clothes yesterday, so I think that I really need to get in to bed properly tonight lol.

This card was made with some left over bits and pieces.

The oval is the center of a diecut panel cut from a piece of handmade background paper,

and the flowers from some paper spritzed with Cosmic Shimmer sprays.

The handmade background for the oval was made years ago in a class using dye based reinkers and waxed paper.

That's me done for tonight. Time to brush my teeth and hit the hay. See you tomorrow.

What a Kind Man

Evening All,

I've been trying very hard, since my fall, to get back into going to the gym regularly. Lockdown has not been kind, especially the last one. At least at the start I was going for a walk every day, but unfortunately I have not been quite so disciplined this year.

The only drawback to all this exercise is that I am absolutely shattered by the end of the afternoon, and ready for a granny nap. I dispensed with one this afternoon, and instead managed to get over to see my  Mum. Not that the journey went quite to plan. After the train to Horley was cancelled I thought that I would be smart and get the train to Redhill and then a bus to Smallfield which would save me one 3 mile walk.

Bad move..........................I got the bus OK, but had to get off about half a mile down the road when I realised that I had left my back pack containing all Mums goodies at the bus station!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can imagine what I thought as I rushed back on foot and heard a police car with lights and sirens speeding towards said bus station. Thankfully it went straight past, and the wonderful man at the ticket office had got my bag safely tucked away. He had even put all of the food from it in his fridge to keep it cold. How kind is that. 

So this is the card that will be in the post tomorrow to thank him. Well, I hope it will, if the post office can manage to deliver it to the bus station without a full address and post code. I hope that if they can manage to get letters to Father Christmas, they might be able to find an actual building in the middle of a town.

The card was made using one of Jane's fabulous floral stamps and a piece of 'Mop Up' background.

I created a frame around the gold stamped and embossed image with a black micron pen, and then added a fussy cut sentiment.

Although it was made a while ago, I think that it is perfect for today.

I did get to walk the 3 miles back to the station after visiting Mum, so I think I deserve to get to bed now. Not quite as early as I had planned, but it will do.

Framed Poinsettia by Francoise

Evening Everyone,

I think it's time for a few more Christmas cards.

Once again I've used a favourite Poinsettia stamp designed by Francoise.

I used a piece of mop up background to stamp and emboss the image.

I then added extra colour with a sparkle pen for the flower, and removed colour with bleach for the leaves.

I used the same stamp to create a masterboard which I cut up and turned into 4 cards once I had coloured it in.

I mounted the trimmed panels on to white card and trimmed to leave a narrow border,

and then mounted them on to green square cards.

I added a die cut sentiment to each card along with some black nailheads.

Umbrella Grass by Jane

 Evening All,

Well, I may not have made many cards recently, but it would appear that I have blogged rather a lot! They don't go in to the drawer to be used until they have been blogged and completely finished off with envelopes and inserts. I know I'm really sad lol.

So here are a few more to add back into the finishing off box, now that I've emptied it.

This one was made with a piece of mop up background and a Meadow Frame Paper Panda die.

I used the same Umbrella Grass stamp designed by Jane Gill on this left over piece of background created using Pixie Powders.

I added some extra little dots and a faux stitched border to the panel.

This final card uses another piece of Pixie Powder background and the negative space from a favourite die cut sentiment.

Distress Oxide Masterboards

Evening All,

I hope that you have had a wonderful weekend. I decided that it would be best for me to get an earlier train home tonight, given the football, which was probably just as well given the number of trains cancelled due to lack of staff!!!!!!! 

Amongst the bits and pieces in my box to finish off after last weekends class were a couple of masterboards.

They were created using a floral stamp set and gold embossing powder.

I added plenty of distress oxide inks

and water, and then let the panels dry in their own time.

The stamped and die cut sentiments are from Lisa Horton. Very quick and simple cards for any occasion.

Shame about the England score. I think I definitely got home at the right time.

Pearlescent Poinsettias

Evening,

Hope you have had a fabulous day. Mine was rather hectic, but everyone is asleep now........for the moment lol.

I do love this fabulous old stamp from Imagination.

I coloured it using pearlescent paints which I 'dropped' into the white embossed image having first added plenty of water.

The colours blend beautifully but are best left to dry out on their own.

Same stamp, different colour combo. Much more subtle I think you will agree.

It's a shame that the pearlescence is so hard to see in pictures.

Definitely need a good nights sleep so that I am on top form tomorrow. It looks like it will be another day stuck inside because of the weather so you can imagine what the kids will be like by the end of the day. We might just have to get out and jump in some puddles.

Birthday Poinsettia

Evening,

Well it would seem that the trains are definitely back to pre lockdown numbers. To be fair people still weren't sitting next to one another, but that just meant that half the people still made it feel like everywhere was packed. If that makes sense!!

Here are another couple of cards made using Distress Oxide inks.

I pinched the colour combo from one of the ladies in the class.......vintage photo, mowed lawn and candied apple.

I coloured the fabulous poinsettia image from Stamps by Me and the cut it out using the matching die.

I decided that it would work just as well for a winter birthday as a Christmas card.

Another image from the stamp set,

coloured in the same colours,

and then layered onto an embossed background panel.

I used a Christmas sentiment, but it would work with anything else I think.

Better get to bed, no doubt I will be in for an early morning wake up call lol.

Make My Wednesday with Brushos

Evening,

My good friend Gill likes to challenge us creatively once a fortnight with her 'Way To Go Wednesday'. This time she is playing with Brushos, so I dug through my card stash to see if I had anything that I could share, and I came up with these.

I actually used Cosmic Shimmer Pixie Powders on my cards, but like Brushos they are fabulous powders which burst into life when sprayed with water.

Pixie Powders also contain mica which gives your background a fabulous shimmer, which is almost impossible to capture in a photo.

This card also uses Pixie Powders for the background, and another of Jane Gill's fabulous floral stamps.

I used bleach on the flowers to take out the colour.

If you mix Pixie Powders with water you can use them as a paint, as I have done here.

I hope that perhaps these will inspire you to dig out any of your powders.....ie Brushos, Pixie Powders, Colour Bursts, and give them a try.

Enjoy you Day my Lovely

Evening All,

Another wet and distinctly unsummery day. I must admit that the temperature is much more to my liking, although I could do with a little less water lol.

A few more cards tonight from Saturdays class on Distress Oxide inks.

Not only do they make fabulous backgrounds on watercolour and mixed media cardstock, but they also work on glossy for a whole different look.

I added the inks to the glossy cardstock in layers, drying each layer as I went.

They are lovely as they are, but take on a whole different look if you gently wipe away the chalky oxidization with a baby wipe or cloth. 

The colours are just so vibrant, I guess it is the dye ink property of the pad that gives that look.

I have used a variety of die cut foliage over these backgrounds since they were made using photo paper which is not very receptive to heat embossing.

The colours are just amazing.

The background to this card was made using the same technique only this time I used a different card stock 

which has given a much more muted look to the finished panel.

Still lovely though I think you will agree.
