Using Up Leftovers

Evening All.

I'm hoping that I can stay awake long enough to write this, I'm absolutely shattered. I  fell asleep in my clothes yesterday, so I think that I really need to get in to bed properly tonight lol.

This card was made with some left over bits and pieces.
The oval is the center of a diecut panel cut from a piece of handmade background paper,

and the flowers from some paper spritzed with Cosmic Shimmer sprays.
The handmade background for the oval was made years ago in a class using dye based reinkers and waxed paper.
That's me done for tonight. Time to brush my teeth and hit the hay. See you tomorrow.
Thanks for stopping by.

Plenty of Peel-offs Part 2

Evening Everyone,
Sorry it has taken me so long to post this second lot of peel-off cards but this hot weather really is doing me in.
I never thought that I would look forward to a day at work, but at least with it comes 8 hours of air conditioning.
As I said in my last post I spent a bit of time using up some handmade background papers and peel-offs to create some Thank You cards.
Most of these cards use up some backgrounds created using dye based re-inkers and glossy card stock.
They do give some really bright backgrounds which will of course bleach out due to the dye based ink used.
I used rather more water on this one to give a softer finish.
They work just as well with leaves,
as they do with scenes
or flowers.
These last two use damp screwed up 'Bleeding Art Tissue' and glossy card stock
to create a lovely mottled background.
The newspapers are saying that the heatwave is due to come to an end in the next couple of days. I must admit that I would definitely relish a downpour, you might even find me standing out in it.
Have a good evening.

Belated Birthday Wishes Suze

Evening Everyone,
Happy Monday to you all.
Yesterday was the birthday of a fabulously creative lady, the lovely Suze Weinberg.
I had been inspired by Suze in print before I was lucky enough to meet her when I worked at the Craft Barn, many years ago.
At that time the only good crafting magazines were from America and that is where I first encountered an article by Suze on the 'Polished Stone' technique.
Alcohol inks were not readily available in the UK at the time so I played with dye based inks and put my own spin on it to produce backgrounds by the 'Drip, Spritz and Smoosh' method lol.
Drip drops of dye based reinkers onto glossy card stock, spritz with water and smoosh a second piece of glossy card stock over the ink to produce two pieces of fabulous background paper.
They look a bit like ink blots to me but I won't try analysing them.
You have to leave them to dry which is always the hard part, but then you have handmade background papers ready for any eventuality.
With Suze in mind I thought that I would make a card using this ready made piece of background.
The stamp I have used is 4240K Flamboyant by Penny Black (how appropriate when I think of Suze) which I have stamped and embossed in black and then cut out using a nestie.
The background has been created using an Embossalicious folder and white card which is then sponged with pale lilac ink.
Of course there had to be some ribbon, lace and pearls.
I hope that you had a great day Suze, and thanks for all of the inspiration.
