The last of the Maker Mania samples

Evening All,

Another gloriously sunny day, way too hot for me I'm afraid.

I thought that I would share the last of the cards that I made for Janice and Andy using the embossing folder and stamp set from the Maker Mania weekend.

This is a gorgeous 3D embossing folder used with Distress Oxide inks.
I inked the folder with Distress Oxide inks and spritzed with water before adding a piece of white card and pressing the folder closed with my hands to transfer the ink to the card stock.
This was actually one of the first pieces I created using the embossing folder and inks. I used too many colours so they went rather muddy and it was going to be binned until I decided to sponge on some extra ink.
I used some Altenew inks with these stamps in true layering fashion. I also added some extra fussy cut flowers to the stamped panel.
This panel again used the Distress Oxide inks and the 'Smack Down' technique.
A little multiple stamping along with some clear embossed images. I also used mica powders on the images on the base card.
I know that there is a particular name for this type of card, but I can't for the life of me remember it.
I created the panel with the multiple resist technique on glossy card stock and then used stitched rectangle dies to cut the panels which were matt and layered onto white before putting the panel back together.
I had such fun playing with this set, and was thrilled to be involved in such a fabulous weekend. Let's hope it happens again next year. I'm looking forward to it already!!
Thanks for stopping by.

B is for Baubles and Bells

Evening,

What grotty weather we have had again to day. My poor Mum tells me that her back garden has once again turned into a lake. I don't want it super hot, but I would like a bit of sunshine now and then. After all it is nearly June!!

Given the grotty weather, here is a Christmas card from my stash. It was actually made during my last visit to SirStampalot nearly 2 years ago!!!!
Some ink and mica powders to create the background panel which then forms a spotlight on the card.
Better get to bed, I've had to set the alarm for tomorrow, I don't want to be late for the hospital.
Thanks for stopping by.

Just Because with Mica

Evening Everyone,
Just a couple of quick cards to night using a lovely stamp that I borrowed from Davina, no I don't own every stamp made lol.
This first card just uses an image stamped with versamark ink and then dusted with mica powder.
This card uses the 'Mica Removal Technique' where card stock is first covered with versamark ink and mica powder and then the image is stamped onto this with versamark which removes the mica powder leaving the image showing through.
Thanks for stopping by.

With Love on Valentines Day

Evening All
Have you had a wonderful Valentines Day? Did you get thoroughly spoilt? Lots of cards and red roses?
This is a series of cards that I made a while ago during a class on Mica Powders.
It was a technique that I found on Sue Wilson's blog, only this time I used a coloured cardstock for the base coating of versamark ink and mica powder.
After that you stamp onto the card with versamark ink which removes the mica powder, in this case leaving a nice red image from the underlying card stock.
The stamps used were all designed by Jane Gill for Woodware.
And this final card uses a die designed by Sue Wilson. I used some of the little die cut hearts on the background and them paper pieced one of them back into the large heart, and added some glossy accents.
Thanks for stopping by.

Birthday Funtime

Evening Everyone,
Oh well that's playtime over with for a while.
It has been lovely to get caught up with things even if it is only for a couple of days.
I began to think that the weather was going to do it's usual thing on Thursday when I visited my Mum and rain. But although it wasn't as glorious as Wednesday, it has still been very pleasant, in fact even today hasn't been too bad.... for a Bank Holiday.
One of the numerous cards that I needed to make during my time off was one for my Sin-in-law's birthday.
He always works so hard, bless him, that this is how he deserved to spend his birthday, playing on his PlayStation.
I used an old LOTV topper cut out with a circular die and layered onto a piece of handmade background.
The background paper was created using a combination of inks and mica powder,
and of course plenty of stamping and embossing using Frantage powders.
We are using Imagination Stamps at Davina's tomorrow which will be fun, so I suppose playtime isn't completely over.
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend, what ever you are up to.
Happy Crafting and hugs

Sticky Embossing with Foil and Mica

Evening Everyone,
The Girls have chosen to play with Sticky Embossing Powder, Foils and Mica Powders in class on Saturday.
I haven't played with this technique in a long time so it will be nice to revisit an old favourite.
These are a few cards that I found in my stash that I will be taking with me on Saturday
You can see the foil quite nicely in this picture.
It is lovely to mix the Mica powders with the foil because the powder fills in any gaps and takes away the rather sticky feel to the foiled panels.
I don't think there is any foiling on this card, but it was the same stamp so I thought that I would share it.
You can even use your stencils and a Versamark ink pad to create your image. This stencil was designed by my good friend Anna.
As you can see it works really well on Kraft card, so I must remember to add some of that to my class prep box.
Must go now. I need to set up my Sky box for Hobby Art Jenny's TV appearances tomorrow on Hochanda Sky channel 663 at 10am, 3pm and 6pm.
Hope you enjoy the shows, there are some fabulous stamp sets on them as usual.
Night, night.

Wrap over/around cards for WoodwareWitterings.

Good morning Everyone,
I hope that you are still enjoying the weather. (This is a scheduled post so I do hope that the sun is still shining and that we are not wading our way through several inches of rain water lol)
Today it is my turn to share a Wrap over/around card for WoodwareWitterings.
Now I must admit that sometimes Dorothy's choices for us really stump me, but then I guess that is exactly what a challenge is supposed to do, make you think.
I couldn't come up with a fancy card shape, so I stuck with a very literal interpretation and created a parcel out of stamped images which I 'wrapped around' with ribbon.
My parcel was created using an old Christmas stamp, versamark and some mica powders.
I stamped the image four times and cut away the ribbons at the top of the image before mounting them onto blue card stock. I wrapped the parcel with a double layer of white ribbon and added a tag urging you not to open it till Christmas.
As usual I have created a couple more cards to share with you using the same stamp set,
or a similar 'wrapped around' technique.
I am itching to see what the rest of the DT have come up with this week, so why not join in with the fun and see what you can create.
Happy stamping and hugs

Christmas has come Early

Evening Everyone
I hope that you have all been having a fun filled Saturday, I have been doing a bit of tidying up and sorting out.
When I went to stay at SirStampalot in March, my suitcase was bulging with boxes of cards that I had made since my previous visit. I take them with me when I go so that the Guys get the chance to photograph them for the shop Gallery.
Because there are so many I leave them up there and then Janice and Andy very kindly send them back by courier when they have finished with them.
They have obviously been very busy because my parcel finally arrived on Friday. Well there were lots of cards to be photographed.
At least half the cards were for Christmas, so as I have only managed to make a couple of Christmas cards in March and April I thought that I would share a few of the ones from my parcel tonight.
They are all made using background paper that I created using my embossing folders, Versamark ink and Pearlex powder.
I love this technique, it is so easy to do and makes the most fabulous background papers just right for Christmas cards.
I watched Sheena on TV recently and she used Glycerin and a brayer for this technique, so I must give that a try, I have already purchased my Glycerin lol.
All of the main images on these cards are from my bits box, and although most of them have been stamped, embossed and/or coloured by me,
a couple of pre-coloured toppers did sneak their way in.
By the way thank you to everyone who left me messages about the problems my friend Sylvie has been  having with her blog.
She has abandoned the original site and set up a new blog all by herself, so please stop by and show her some love. She has a couple of fabulous cards on there and I am sure that there will be plenty more in the very near future.
I think that I will enter these into the Let it Shine challenge over at Crafty Hazelnuts Christmas Challenge  because the mica powders do shine, and also her Anything Goes Monthly challenge.
Off to bed now.

Winter Fun at the Crafty Cardmakers challenge

Evening All
Today sees the start of the last challenge of 2013 over at Crafty Cardmakers.
Our hostess, Marie, would like to see your interpretation of Winter Fun.
No Christmas cards/projects or New Year cards/projects, but some form of fun you might have during the Winter, for example, skiing, skating, sledding, building a snowman, snowballing.
For my card I chose an image from Lili of the Valley cut out and layered using Circular Nesties.
The background is a Stampendous Snowflake stamp CRR122 Cling Snowfall available from our sponsors SirStampalot, which I have stamped and embossed in white.
I added some Glossy Accents and Glitter Glue, as well as Faux Stitching.
The snowflake border has been cut from card that I have glittered using Diamond Sparkle Medium available from Imagination Crafts
The sentiment is also from an Imagination stamp set, and I added some Mica Powder to the snowflakes that I stamped over the embossed greeting.
We are sponsored for this challenge by SIR STAMPALOT and also by THE PAPER SHELTER.
Please don't forget to check out what the rest of our fabulous team have designed to inspire you.
Happy Crafting

Classes at Lavender Lane

Evening Everyone, thanks for stopping by.
I had a wonderful, if very small class on Wednesday evening since unfortunately two of the ladies were unable to make it.
Hope you are feeling better Patricia, look forward to seeing you next time.
I can't remember the other ladies name but I hope that her Mum is feeling better now too.I actually sat and made a card that evening which I was going to share with you as soon as I had added some bling, but I couldn't wrestle the laptop off the grandchildren yesterday so I will share that one with you at a later date.
I am teaching at Lavender Lane on Saturday and as you may have guessed from the sample one of the classes is on UTEE - Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel for the uncrafty amongst you.
This is just one of the different techniques that we will be doing. I've stamped into it having first added some mica powders. I'm not sure that the pictures do the card justice, but at least taking them in daylight has helped a little.
The second class is called Patchwork Peel-offs and was inspired by a technique that the lovely Lisa B http://lisabdesignsinspiration.blogspot.com/ showed me at Farnborough.
I am really looking forward to the classes, they are always fun when Gill is there. I will make sure the kettle is on Gilly don't worry lol.
Have a good evening.
Happy Stamping if you get the chance.

I'm off to Ally Pally........

Well girls, here we are at the end of yet another week, and another lovely sunny day. Just where is this year disappearing to?This weekend I am off to Ally Pally, which has to be one of my favourite shows. It's not too huge but is full of lots of wonderfully inspirational people.
I will be helping Sue and Harvey on the Imagination stand so don't forget to stop by and say hello.
I made these two cards using some of the Imagination products and had meant to post them, but I guess I will just have to hand deliver them instead.
They both use Imagination stamps heat embossed with white powder. I have then blended several colours of the silkies over the top using some cut and dry foam.
The punched panel on this card has been stamped with versamark and then brushed with mica powders. The tiny gold dots are waste from a peel off border.
This card uses the same technique as the first one but with just one layer of white stamping.
I'm hoping to pick up some more colours, and of course some new stamps. Well I can't come home empty handed can I lol.
Hope to see some of you there.
Love Kimx
