Nothing But Neutrals

Hi All,

An old blogging buddy of mine popped up on my Facebook feed yesterday with her first challenge for 2021, so I decided that entering it would be the perfect way to start off the New Year.

The challenge blog is called The Rainbow Card Challenge Blog and their colour challenge for this month is Nothing but Neutrals.

Now I haven't exactly been crafty over the last few weeks due this blasted virus, so I had a look through my photos to see if I could find a card from my stash that might fit the bill, and this is what I found.

I stamped and embossed Jane's fabulous JGS329 Single teasels on to a piece of cream cardstock and then added some distress inks with a blending tool.
Next I added some background stamping again using Distress inks.
Finally I ran the entire piece through my embossing machine with a Bubbles stencil (they call them masks) from Dutch Doobadoo. If you use an embossing mat underneath the stencil you get a nice embossed pattern in the card stock just as if you had used an embossing folder
With the stencil still in place I added some smoky grey ink and then some Imagination Sparkle Medium using a piece of cut'n dry felt. You only need a small amount of the Sparkle Medium on the felt pad but by using a circular motion over the stencil you burnish the medium in to the paper to give a foiled appearance, which of course looks much better in the flesh than the photos lol.
The sentiment is a favorite old one from Hobby Art.
I hope that this is neutral enough for Mynette's challenge at The Rainbow Card Challenge.
Thanks for stopping by. I'm off for a granny nap I think, covid really does take it out of you.

Do You Have a Favourite?

 Evening All,

Do you ever make a card that you like so much that you just don't want to give it away? Well this is one of those.

I just love the background,
which was created using Distress Inks and a stencil.
I added Sparkle Medium to the background using a stencil, having first removed some of the colour with a damp baby wipe.
I completed the panel by stamping and black embossing some leaves from an old abstract stamp set. I think it was from Inkadinkadoo.
This card was created using the same stencil along with some black embossed images.
Once again the same stencil and sparkle medium and some die cut floral images.
It's a good job I love my Granddaughter isn't it, or she wouldn't have been allowed to choose the first card from the large supply that they all have access to when they need something.
Apparently it is her friends favourite colours.
Thanks for stopping by.

Imagination Florals

 Evening,

I hope that you have all made it through another Tuesday safe and sound.

Another card using my favourite Imagination stencil.
I used Sparkle Medium through the stencil to create the background and then sponged over it with Distress Inks.
I trimmed the panel and wrapped a couple of pieces of ribbon around it before adding a sentiment and some foliage.
Here is another very similar card using another Imagination Stencil, only this time I sponged the Distress ink through the stencil and left it at that.
Once again I added ribbon, a sentiment and some foliage covered in Frantage Embossing Powder.
I also added some dots of glossy accents to finish it off.
Thanks for stopping by.

Floral Anniversary

 Evening,

Have you had a good day? I would have liked mine to have been a little more productive, but I guess we can't have it all.

I've been doing steps for one of the cards that I had to make last week. It's amazing how long it takes to do. I can't share that yet, so here is a card that I made a while ago using a lovely floral stencil.
I sponged the stencil with black ink and then blended over the top with red sparkle medium from Imagination.
I did a couple of extra flowers that I fussy cut and added to the card along with some red ribbon and a sentiment.
Back to work tomorrow so crafty time will be very limited for a while.
Thanks for stopping by.

Stenciled Sparkle

Evening Everyone,
I've had a very enjoyable Sunday catching up with a few crafty things on my 'To Do' list. Can't share any of them yet I'm afraid, so instead I will share a card I made a while ago using a lovely stenciled background and die cut foliage.
The background is created using a stencil, black distress ink and some Imagination Sparkle Medium in reds and golds.
I made some background card using the red sparkle medium and then die cut some Tim Holtz foliage from it along with some cut from black card stock.
I matt and layered the panel on to co-ordinating card and added some black ribbon and a sentiment panel.
Another day of sample making ahead as I have an extra day off. Better make sure my alarms are turned off, I really don't want to get up at 3.30 unless I absolutely have to.
Stay safe and hugs

Foiled Florals

Evening Everyone,
I hope that you aren't too warm.
One of that last classes that we did before lockdown involved stencils and Sparkle Medium of various varieties, both Imagination and Cosmic Shimmer.
I do love the foiling technique, that I learnt from Sue at Imagination, many years ago.
I made the background using one of  her lovely floral stencils and a couple of colours of Starlights blended through the stencil onto the card. Once dry I foiled it with Sparkle Medium.
I stamped and embossed a sentiment onto a piece of cream card and layered it into the centre of the panel before embellishing it with flowers fussy cut from another stenciled panel, and some die cut foliage.
I used the same floral stencil and black glossy card stock for this card.
I used a Sue Wilson die for the central panel on this card, cut from the same black glossy card.
I raised it on fun foam to help give it dimension.
Thanks for stopping by.

Stencils and Sparkle

Evening Everyone,
And a very happy Sunday to you. I hope that you are all OK.
Here are a couple of cards made using Tim Holtz stencils,
 Imagination Starlight Metallic paints,
 and Sparkle Medium.
This one uses Distress Inks through the stencil,
and then a little Sparkle Medium afterwards.
The die cut sentiment has been coated in Glossy Accents to make it stand out better.
This final card is one that we have unfortunately had to send off all too often just lately.
It was made using the same ingredients as the first card,
just in far more muted colours.
Thank you for stopping by.
Stay Safe and Craft.

Add a Sentiment for SimonSaysStamp

Evening All,
Just a quick post tonight. I think I might have overdone the walking yesterday cause I have been suffering all day.
I thought that it was about time that I entered a challenge as I haven't done it in a while.
Over at SimonSaysStamp they are asking for you to add a sentiment, so I figured that this card fitted the bill quite nicely.
The background was made using Starlight paint, a leafy stencil, and then some sparkle medium.
I love the foiled effect that you get when you burnish the sparkle medium through the stencil.
The sentiment is a lovely die given dimension with some craft foam.
Thanks for stopping by.

An afternoon filled with Stencils and Sparkle

Evening Everyone,
One of the benefits of a playdate with crafty friends is that you get to play with lots of goodies that you may be unfamiliar with. It can also be quite expensive. I became the proud owner of a rather impressive array of Imagination Starlight Paints and Sparkle Medium after one such play session with the lovely Lisa Baker a few years ago.
I try very hard to pass along these playdate benefits during classes at Davina's, so today we spent the afternoon getting to grips with all things sparkly including the Starlight Paints and Sparkle Medium.
I am definitely no expert, thank goodness for YouTube and Pinterest, but I do love to play so I think that I managed to pass along a few tips.
The background to this card was created using inks and then I have used a bubble stencil and baby wipe to remove a little of the colour in places around the panel.
I stamped and embossed over the panel, first making sure that the background was dry.
Sparkle Medium was then added to the panel using the same bubble stencil and a piece of Cut'nDry felt to burnish it which gives the foiled sparkle around the edges of the small circles.
Thanks for stopping by, I hope you have a great evening.

Say it with Flowers

Morning Everyone,
Time for something bright and floral I think, the perfect antidote to all this blasted rain.
As you will guess from the name it was made for my Boss's daughter.
He does like me to put their name on a card since they certainly can't pick one up off the shelf.
That of course is the beauty of a handmade card, you can personalise it.
I made this one using a piece of hand made background paper and assorted dies.
The leaves are very sparkly since they were die cut from a piece of background card made using a brayer and some sparkle medium.
I did a make and take for Imagination Craft many years ago at the NEC so I have quite a stash of pieces to use up.
Lets hope the weather cheers up a bit. I know I can't go out for a walk, but I am still getting bored with this weather.
Have a great day.
Happy Crafting and Hugs
