Sorry Shaz it's a peel-off alert

Hi All
I hope you are all having a good weekend.
I have just finished another fabulous class at Davina’s in Purley. We always have such a good time, lots of chat and crafty catching up, and hopefully some learning along the way. I know I always learn something from the ladies there.

This week we have been revisiting Resist. I felt that there was so much more that you could do with this technique that I decided that I would split it into two classes so as not to confuse anyone.
This week we looked at Multiple Resist, using several different colours layered over the top of one another to create fabulous background panels.

This was actually one of the first techniques that I demonstrated at a major Craft Show (for Crafts Beautiful at Olympia in 2002) and also one of the first things that I had published in my own right, also for the October 2002 issue of Crafts Beautiful.

Once again we made a new tag to add to their book, complete with instructions for them to refer to when they get home.

The resist panel on my tag has been created using Mustard Seed, Barn Door and finally Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink, glossy card stock and Versamark Ink.
The stamps used are from two Woodware sets, JGCL567 Leaf Selection and JGCL566 English Leaves.

This card was also made using the Multiple Resist technique only this time I used an Artemio Swirl stamp set and Picked Raspberry, Salty Ocean and Chipped Sapphire Distress Inks.

I know that some of the ladies find it difficult to stamp on glossy card stock so this is where Peel-Offs really come in to their own. I know that my friend Shaz will be horrified, but all the ladies agreed that they work brilliantly here.
As I used dye based inks for the background I was able to paint some of the areas with bleach to remove the colour. I also added some Glossy Accents to some of the dots.

Congratulations and Birthday Wishes

Evening Everyone
Yesterday was a very special day in lots of households around the country as families waited for A-level exam results.
In our house it was due to it being my lovely Mum's 83rd birthday.
My friend and I popped over to visit her and deliver cards and prezzies. We were also armed with a rather scrummy Sherry Trifle Cake courtesy of M & S, and also a Strawberry Scone, as requested by the Birthday Girl.
It was so lovely to get to see her on her special day, and also an old friend of hers who had popped in for a surprise visit. The cake was rather nice as well lol.
As I said other households had alternative reasons to celebrate. One such family belongs to one of our 'Wild Bean Girlies'. She was thrilled to get a call from her eldest daughter who had managed 3 A's one of which was an A*. She is now off to Medical School, one very clever girl!!
I stupidly forgot to take piccies of Mum's card, so here is the one that I gave Julia to congratulate her on her awsome results.

The central panel has been created using an Embossed Resist technique and then cut out using a Nestie.
For the Embossed Resist, ink up the stamp using several colours of Pigment ink. Stamp and emboss this first image and then stamp again several times without adding any more ink.

The background has been created by taping three pieces of cardstock together before placing them in an embossing folder and running them through a Cuttlebug.
I'm teaching tomorrow so I had better get my Tag instructions written. I can't believe that we are on Tag 12 already - Multiple Resist, or Ghosting Part 2.
I will be back tomorrow with some samples, if I remember to pick up my bag from work that is, it has my camera in it.

Thank you very much for my dinner

Hi All
I have come to the conclusion that there seems to have been something lacking in my daughter's education.
When I was at school there was a small one room 'flat' off the Home Economics room where we were all taught (boys and girls alike) some of the basic life skills, like washing and ironing, along side the cookery lessons where we ended up being able to cook a three course meal.
I don't think my daughter's school cookery lessons  ever seemed to progress beyond fairy cakes and ironing was obviously never part of the deal.
It seems I also failed her in that department since today I have been on an errand of mercy to iron a crease into her other halves trousers.
They unfortunately have a funeral to attend tomorrow, and in typical manly style, the jacket made it to the dry cleaners but the trousers got left at home and had to endure the washing machine treatment.
They have both been working so I offered to pick up the jacket and press creases into the trousers, something it seems my daughter hasn't mastered. In fact I don't think that she is keen on the iron at all given recent events lol.
I'm not sure that my efforts were quite up to military standard, but they seemed to pass muster, and I was treated to a lovely roast dinner at the Pub to thank me for my efforts.

So this is my Thank You to them. The central panel has been made using a combination of Stamped images, Distress inks and Frantage powders.

The sentiment is by Woodware.

I have used two different colours of Frantage powder on the central panel.
I hope that the funeral goes well, they have a long journey ahead of them to get there, and that their Friend is looking down at them smiling and appreciates my efforts at the military creases.

Woodware and Dreamweaver Christmas in August Bloghop

Hi All
Today it is my turn to join in with the Annual Dreamweaver and Woodware Christmas in August Extravaganza week.

Monday through Saturday we will be knocking your Christmas stockings off with fun and inspirational ideas for the upcoming holidays. All that you need to do is hop back and forth across the "pond" on each day, oohing and aaahhhing as you go, and leaving us plenty of holiday love. In return, you'll be entered to randomly win one prize package for a UK commenter, and a second prize package for a US commenter, featuring products distributed in the UK by Woodware...including Dreamweaver and Stampendous! 

Prize includes four stencils, one die, and two stamps, selection may vary.

Here is what I created.

I tried using the Dreamweaver pastes for my central panel, but I obviously need some private tuition from the lovely Lynell as it kept bleeding underneath the stencil so I went back to the good old Cuttlebug option.

I stamped and embossed JGS178 Poinsettia Flourish onto white card stock and then ran the card through the Cuttlebug using the Dreamweaver Merry Christmas stencil.

I have also been playing with the new Mix'd Media inks which is what I have used to add colour to the trimmed panel using Stencil brushes.

The sparkle was added by covering the entire panel with Crystal Embossing powder. I also added some hand drawn lines using a Micron pen.

The gingham paper has been stamped, embossed and coloured using the Mix'd Media Inx.

The main background panel has been stamped and embossed in white and then sponged with Patina inx. I wiped off the excess with a damp paper towel and then painted the images using the same Inx

Rollagraph Flowers

Hi All
Firstly can I just thank all of you that have visited recently and especially those that have left me comments.
Please stick with me, I seem to be having major mojo and Internet issues at the moment, everything just seems to be taking me so long to do. This post has taken me about 3 hours, I keep having to walk away and hope that the Internet will kick back in before the computer goes out of the window!!
That is why I haven't been round to visit you all lately.
Anyway enough of me whining, there is always someone so much worse off than me so I really shouldn't complain.

This is a card that I made a while ago for a Rollagraph class.
I have stamped and embossed the images and coloured them using Distress inks.

I cut them out and mounted them onto black card and then onto a white card which I had covered in the same Rollagraph images.
Glossy Accents for the flower centres finish the whole thing off.
Let's see if an early night helps with things, I'll be back early tomorrow with my latest Guest Spot over at Woodware.

I couldn't resist Thinking of You

Evening Everyone
Here is another card that I made a while ago, this time using a Resist panel created using some Stampendous stamps, Versamark and dye based inks.

To be honest I can’t remember exactly how I made it. That’s always the trouble with playing, you end up with loads of fabulous bits of art, which I am trying hard to turn into cards, but which I can’t always remember the recipe for.
I know that I also added some stamping and embossing using Frantage powders, and then ran the whole thing through my Cuttlebug using an embossing folder.

I kept the whole thing fairly simple with just a sentiment and a few well placed gems.

Where has another weekend disappeared to?

Here is another card from my 'To send' pile. This one is heading for Peterboro for Janice's Mum Francis.

The central panel has been made using an old Hero Arts Shadow stamp and pale lemon ink.
I have used this as a background to one of my favourite Hobby Art stamps which I have stamped and embossed and then coloured with dye based inks.

The other background papers are from my stash, as is the lace.
I had better go and get my uniform ironed,. Oh the joys of a Sunday evening lol.

Phone a Friend

Evening Everyone,
I hope that you are enjoying your weekend. I seem finally to have seen the return of my mojo, thank goodness.
I confess I was starting to panic a little bit as I have so much to do, so many new things to play with and not a creative thought in my head.
When that happens call a crafty friend. One frantic text message and Anna came to my aid with tea and crafty chat. I still have loads to do but at least I feel a little more in the zone.

One of the first jobs I got done this morning was to sort out the latest batch of cards that I need to send. Some of them are so late it would probably be more sensible to save them till next year, but everyone is quite used to me by now, so I won't change the habit, they might all start to panic lol.

This is the card that is destined for one of the minded children. It is actually only late because they are away on holiday, so I'm not totally to blame this time :O)
The central panel is taken from a preprinted vellum sheet that I bought a while ago. I mounted it onto white paper and cut it out using a circular nestie.

The background paper is from my stash and has been stamped and embossed using Frantage power, Versamark ink and a Magnolia swirl stamp.
I think I had better call it a night. I don't want to push my creative luck and be back to square one.

It's a 'Onesie' Party

Evening,
I just had to share these pictures with you.
They are nothing crafty, I'm afraid, but they had us all in stitches.
Jenny and the children went shopping today with some friends and they all came back with 'Onesies'.

There was even one for Dad, it's a good job that he is a good sport.

Mum got in on the act as well.
All the poses were choreographed by Reece's friend Max who is obviously a budding film director.
The two families are going away for a weekend quite soon, and I can see there will be much hilarity.
They are obviously just big kids at heart.
I seem to have my very own age related built in heat supply so I'm not sure that I could cope with the dress code. I think I will pass, what about you?

What a Wonderful World at Woodware

Hi All
I am feeling very honoured this month, as I have been asked to be a Guest Designer on the Woodware Team Challenge so that Siobhan can have a well deserved holiday.
This week Janet from Japonica in Exmouth has chosen the challenge theme from a song title What a Wonderful World.
Now what sort of world would it be without flowers, so that is what I chose to use on my card.

 I created the background paper using Adirondack Colorwash Spray Inks and cling film.

I stamped and embossed the beautiful Daisy image (Stampendous SSC1105 Daisy Stem Trio ) onto the dry paper and then painted the flowers with thin undiluted neat bleach.

 I trimmed the panel and then cut it into three pieces before mounting it onto gold and black glossy paper.

The panel on the right hand side of the picture has been created by stamping and embossing the oblong  decorative image using Versamark and clear Embossing powder.

This is such a useful stamp set and works really well with the bleach.

It's Official, a messy desk leads to a Creative Mind

Well Girls, and Boys of course,
It is official. A messy work desk can make you more creative, according to a study done by the University of Minnesota US. (Well it must be true, I read it in the newspaper!!)
Of course that must be where I've been going wrong these last couple of weeks, my desk has obviously been far too tidy lol.
Thank goodness something has worked because I have finally managed to finish Ciaran's card. I can't say that I am 100% happy with it, but I'm not sure why so I guess that it is best to stop fiddling with it.

 Once again I have used a pre-coloured Lili of the Valley die cut image.

I'm really into circular cards at the moment, can't you tell lol.
I used some background papers from my stash and my Grand Nesties and an Embossalicious folder.

I couldn't really find any suitable embellishments other than the grass so I decided that I would add some Glossy Accents to the bike frame and Grey Gelly Roll glaze pen to the bike tyres.
It is definitely too late to give them their cards tonight, so I guess I had better buy some cake tomorrow so that we can have a little bit of a belated celebration.
I'm not tiding up my desk either, it might stop my creativity, I wonder if I can stamp successfully on a very uneven surface :O)

Here Come the Girls.... well one at least

Hi All
No waders needed this morning, although it was a little soggy out there.
It was the Twins birthday when I was away at Janice and Andy's last month and as I didn't manage to get their cards made before I left due to the fire I had grand plans of finishing them while the family were away on holiday. Well that was the plan any way!!
Unfortunately the best laid plans as they say......
I seem to be having great trouble getting back into creative mode, so the pieces for Saskia's card have been pushed around my desk and stared up at me for the last several weeks, until finally it all came together this afternoon.

The image is a pre-coloured Lili of the Valley die cut that I have cut out using a circular Grand Nestie.
The background paper is from a Kaisercraft paper pad that I bought at Sirstampalot.

Saskia is very much a 'Pink Girly' so I thought that this fit the bill very nicely.

The flowers and die cut leaves are all from my stash and the bow has been tied and shrivelled with my heat gun.

I added some glitter glue to her wings and Stardust pen to her hair.
Of course I still have to make a card for Ciaran, so this will have to stay hidden for a little while yet. At this rate they might be nearer their next birthday than this one lol.
I would like to enter this into the Here Come the Girls challenge at Lili's Little Fairies.
Now if I can just come up with Something for the Boys we will be laughing.
Back to the drawing board lol.

More Christmas Clarity

Evening All
I hope that it hasn't been raining too hard where you are. It has been pouring here which probably means that the bottom of our road is flooded, it doesn't seem to take much.
I promised myself that I would do so many things when the family was on holiday, as well as sorting my 12 x 12 papers that is. Why is it that everything always takes so much longer than you expect.
I did finally manage to tidy up all of my stamps, and sort out most of my clear and unmounted stamps, but I still have to tackle all of my Clarity stamps, and that is going to be no mean feat.
I think I might enlist the Grandchildren to help me with that one, but at the moment any available space is taken up with suitcases and washing, both clean and dirty, so I think it might have to wait a little while.
So in the mean time here is another of the cards that I made which was shown on Barbara's last TV show.

I cut out the stamped and embossed Carol Singers using Oval Nesties.

The background on the blue card stock has been created using Versamark ink and Pearlex Powders.

The banner is part of a second stamp set which also contains blank banners for you to add your own greeting, very useful I think you will agree.
Let's hope I don't need my waders tomorrow. At least it seems to have stopped for the moment so here's hoping that it will just sink into the ground and disappear.

Magic Painting for Grown Ups

Evening,
I can't believe that the weekend is at an end so quickly, and I don't seem to have managed to do anything.
I had hoped that I would have got back in to the groove now the family are home, but the weather has continued to defeat me.
So here is a card that I made after my last class at Davina's.

The class was Resist Part 1 or Ghosting as I have heard it referred to.

The Hobby Art sentiment was stamped onto glossy card stock using Versamark ink and then dye based ink from a Kaleidacolor ink pad was brayered over it.
The greeting 'pops' through just like grown up magic painting lol.
The beautiful floral stamp, also by Hobby Art was stamped and embossed onto the panel using black Versafine ink and clear embossing powder and then the image was painted with thin undiluted bleach to remove some of the colour.
The poor washing machine has been on overdrive all day, but at least the nice weather has meant that we have been able to get most things dry, although we are running out of places to hang them :O)
Lets hope they have managed to fix the lighting at work over the weekend, although I'm not holding out too much hope.

Normal chaos has been resumed

Evening All
I hope that you are all having a wonderful weekend and that you caught up with Barbara in The Classroom this morning. Don't forget that she will be back again tomorrow on Create and Craft Sky channel 671 at 9am - 11am and then again at 2pm - 3pm.
The family have arrived back from their holiday and so normal chaos has definitely been resumed lol.
My youngest Grandsons first words as he walked through the door were 'Wow, doesn't the living room look tidy', it doesn't now.

 This is another of the cards that I made for Barbara last month.

 The main image has been stamped and embossed and then painted using the Vintage Pearlex palette.

The border has been hand drawn using a fine black pen, and Glossy Accents have been added to the berries.
I'm hoping that my mojo has returned along with the family as it has been seriously missing just lately. Here's hoping :O)
See you again tomorrow, Internet permitting of course, it has taken me about 3 hours to get this post done!!

Remember Barbara is back on the Box

Evening,
Wow am I ever glad that it is Friday!!
Did you get thunder and a major downpour this morning? It was actually quite nice to go outside in it (I had to help bring in the delivery which of course arrived at the same time as the rain) until you have to stand at the till in a soggy shirt. Don't worry I didn't look like an entrant for a wet T shirt contest, well not quite anyway lol.

Just a quick reminder tonight that Barbara will be back on the box at the weekend.
This card was one of several that I made for her last month. Unfortunately things have conspired against me this month (work, a headache and the Post Office mainly!!!!) so I didn't manage to get anything done for her. I hope that she will forgive me.

 I stamped and embossed the solid image of the Carol Singers, and cut them out using my Nesties.

The papers are from my stash and the Snowflake punch is a Martha Stewart punch around the page design.
I have a bit of tidying up to do tomorrow as the family are due back from their holiday and they will need to be able to get into the living room so I guess that I had better get to bed.
