Another Woodware sneak peek

Hi All
What lovely blue skies we have here at the moment, lets hope they last.
I thought that I would do my post early today so that I don't have to stop.

Today is another of the sneak peeks from the new Woodware Spring 2014catalogue.

This time the card has been made using  JGS338 Jane’s Geometric Leaves.

I stamped and embossed the images onto watercolour card using Sepia Versafine ink and clear embossing powder.

The leaves and background have then been coloured using distress inks.

The black card stock has been stamped and embossed using  Versamark ink and clear embossing powder and then painted using thin undiluted bleach.

The uncoloured leaves have been fussy cut and then mounted onto the cards using Silicon.
This is a fabulous stamp set which I can see will be very useful for all of those Men's cards.

Magic Painting for Grown Ups

Evening,
I can't believe that the weekend is at an end so quickly, and I don't seem to have managed to do anything.
I had hoped that I would have got back in to the groove now the family are home, but the weather has continued to defeat me.
So here is a card that I made after my last class at Davina's.

The class was Resist Part 1 or Ghosting as I have heard it referred to.

The Hobby Art sentiment was stamped onto glossy card stock using Versamark ink and then dye based ink from a Kaleidacolor ink pad was brayered over it.
The greeting 'pops' through just like grown up magic painting lol.
The beautiful floral stamp, also by Hobby Art was stamped and embossed onto the panel using black Versafine ink and clear embossing powder and then the image was painted with thin undiluted bleach to remove some of the colour.
The poor washing machine has been on overdrive all day, but at least the nice weather has meant that we have been able to get most things dry, although we are running out of places to hang them :O)
Lets hope they have managed to fix the lighting at work over the weekend, although I'm not holding out too much hope.

I've joined the Crafty Cardmakers DT

Afternoon Everyone
Well, call me mad if you will, but I have just joined the DT over at Crafty Cardmakers. It is only madness when I consider all of the extra work involved, not when I think about being being part of a wonderful group of crafty individuals.
For those of you who have never popped over to my blog before perhaps I should tell you a little bit about myself.
I am a self confessed stampaholic with a passion for all things card related.
I have been involved in card making since I met Maggie Wright at a craft show at Olympia in 1995. I was there to see the Cross stitch, I think we have all dabbled with that at one time or another, but I got hooked on Rubber Stamping, and the rest as they say is history.
I have been lucky enough to write two books and numerous magazine articles. I have demoed at a lot of the shows around the country and currently teach in Purley and occasionally in Peterboro at Sir Stampalot.
I am a DT member of the Clarity, Hobby Art and Imagination stamp companies and make cards for their TV shows as well as making samples for SirStampalot.
I don't do holidays, and so any holiday time that I do manage is spent sitting at a table in Peterboro in Janice and Andy's wonderful shop SirStampalot. It is a true Aladdin's cave and they have a fantastic web site so do check it out.
I live in Surrey with my two surviving children, 4 Grandchildren and my eldest daughters partner. Our little home really is a bit like a tardis, larger on the inside than it looks from the outside, although it needs to be with all the people living in it.
Believe it or not crafting is only my hobby as I work full time at the local BP Simply Foods petrol station which is fortunately only two minutes away from my house.
I think that that is quite enough about me, so before you switch off completely, or switch over to another blog here is the card that I am sharing with you as my first DT post at Crafty Cardmakers.

It was actually made for Barbara for her show on German TV last week, hence the greeting lol. I did do a Google translate just to make sure I wasn't swearing at anyone :)
I found the instructions for the background in an old magazine that I was flicking through, and it reminded me of the soot technique that I tried out many years ago.

First I covered a piece of glossy card stock with Tim Holtz Distress Stains Peeled Paint and Broken China. Once this is dry hold the card face down above a candle flame to apply a layer of soot. Take care not to touch it after it is done so as not to smudge the soot.
Next take a medium sized shadow stamp and stamp randomly over the sooted panel. This will remove the soot. The stamp will need cleaning with a baby wipe after every 2 or 3 images. Once you have done this over the entire panel stamp the Trees and Flock of Birds using a black Versafine ink pad. Emboss some of the images and then go back in and flat stamp some more trees.

Trim the panel to size and tap a versamark pad around the edge. Add gold embossing powder and heat.

The finished panel has been mounted onto green card stock as shown. Add a greeting and some Black self adhesive Mosaics from Woodware.

There are always flowers................and shaving foam!!

Evening Everyone
I had another lovely evening class over at Lavender Lane last night. We had a good time and got quite messy making backgrounds with inks and shaving foam. 

Some of the backgrounds were really quite busy and I felt that images might get a little lost on them so I tried out a bit of embossed resist with a twist.

The main panel is created using the inks and shaving foam and then I have stamped several solid floral images (Hero Arts and Hobby Art) over it using versamark ink and clear embossing powder.
Once these stamped flowers have been heated I have then covered the entire thing with a coating of black versafine ink. This is then coated with clear embossing powder, heated and voila!!

I felt that this sentiment from the Hobby Art Scene It Sentiments set couldn't have fitted more perfectly.

I've managed to find a very similar tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers, although we used inks in spray bottles rather than drops from a reinker, but at least it will give you the idea.
Maybe one day I will get around to sorting out a tutorial of my own, although I don't claim to have invented the technique itself.
I will try post some more cards tomorrow if I can get some pictures taken before it rains again :)
