Creative expressions 30 Day Challenge - Day 15 Circles

Afternoon Everyone,
I'm here with my card for todays challenge at Creative Expressions where Day 15 is Circles.

 I do love Spotlight cards, and circles make the perfect spotlight.

I have stamped and embossed the image twice. Once onto plain white card stock, and once on a piece of card sponged with various colours of Distress Inks.

I have used various sizes of circle dies to cut out sections from the white image. These are then placed over the corresponding part of the image.

On this occasion the circles are placed deliberately, but this technique is a great way of hiding a mistake on the main image.

Creative Expressions 30 Day Challenge - Day 14 Watercolour

Evening Everyone,
Another late one I'm afraid, but I have been observing National No Housework Day, by sitting on my bum and crafting lol.

Todays challenge over at Creative Expressions is Watercolour, so here are a couple of cards that I made with another of Jane's fabulous floral stamp sets.

Each of the floral panels have been stamped on to a piece of mop up background,

and then I have watercoloured the flowers.
A bit of dry embossing on the main card adds a little bit of interest.

Easter Challenge at CCM

Evening Everyone,
Sorry I'm a little late today, I've actually managed to get a couple of things finished off.
Amongst them, a rather large pile of Easter cards for the latest challenge over at CCM.

Now I have to say that I don't usually do Easter cards.

I've always been the mean Mamma who gives the Grandchildren books rather than chocolate,

but this is such a hugely different time that I thought I would break the habit of a lifetime and send out some Easter cards.

I have several rather cute Easter designs from LOTV, so of course this is where I headed.

The main part of the greeting on this card is from a new Altenew stamp set that I recently purchased.

I do like to add a little bit of decoupage to the images,

and some glossy accents of course.

The sentiment here is from Clarity Stamps.

I don't usually like to make the same card twice,

but on this occasion I made an exception.

And I even made a couple of sets of four.

The background papers are from 12x12 pieces from my stash.

I rather like the other sentiment on some of these cards, I feel that it is rather appropriate for the moment. I do hope that you will be able to find the time to join us for this new challenge. I know that we have plenty of time on our hands at the moment, but I'm afraid that my spring cleaning gene hasn't kicked in so far, and is unlikely to at this stage in the game.

Creative Expressions 30 Day Challenge - Day 12 Sparkle

Evening Everyone,
What a glorious day it has been, I just hope that you have all been obeying the rules and staying indoors how ever boring that may seem. I can't believe how many pictures I have seen of people out and about like it was any other spring day.

Lecture over, here is my card for the Sparkle challenge over at Creative Expressions.

I'm afraid that the photos don't do the sparkle justice, it never does which is a shame.

I have used another of Jane's floral designs for Woodware along with a piece of background paper created using pale gold Gilding Polish.

I do love black and white cards, with just a hint of colour, or in this case some Platinum Stickles and pale green leaves.
Better get back to my card making while I have a little bit of mojo available. It's been sorely lacking of late I have to admit. I have been enjoying taking part in these challenges but I am very glad that I have such a large stash of cards to look through in order to take part.

Creative Expressions 30 Day Challenge - Day 11 Pink

Evening Everyone,
I can't believe that we have already had 11 days of the 30 day challenge for Creative Expressions.

The challenge for today is Pink, although I think that mine are a little on the pinky/purple side of that. I hope that I will be forgiven for that.

The background was created with versamark ink and clear embossing powder for the flowers,

I then added plenty of water and Pixie Powders which I mixed a little bit with a paintbrush before adding a piece of crumpled cling film to the whole thing.

This technique does require a little patience, which I know us crafters are not particularly renowned for. It really is worth the wait though because when you peel away the cling film after the piece has dried you reveal this beautiful frosted glass effect.
The mica in the pixie powders dries in the folds of the cling film which doesn't happen if you take it away too quickly.
I really ought to dig this stamp set out, it is very relevant to today, just a shame that we don't know when we will be able to catch up with all of our friends and family.
Still the sooner everyone obeys the rules, the sooner we can all get back to some sort of normality.

Creative Expressions 30 Day challenge - Day 10 Botanical

Afternoon All,
It's Day 10 of Creative Expressions 30 Day Challenge, and todays theme is Botanical.

I have chosen a couple of cards that I made with one of Jane Gill's new designs for Woodware.

I think this is one of my favourites from this release.

I stamped the Wood Vetch a couple of times onto some handmade background paper.

 I used another of the images from the set to stamp and gold emboss the background on a piece of green card stock.

My second card uses another piece of background paper using one of the Pixie Powders.

I can't remember which colour it was, but I love the way it splits out into so many different colours.

A slightly brighter background this time, but still made with Pixie Powders.

I have also used another of the stamp sets Text Background to stamp lightly on to the panel.

I also used it to stamp with thin undiluted bleach on the blue base card.
This was another of those challenges where I found it hard to narrow down my choice of cards to share with you.
I had better see if I can back into Christmas mode and work on those new stamps that arrived yesterday, but I have to say that I'm not sure that it is going to happen today. I guess there is always tomorrow.

Creative Expressions 30 Day Challenge - Day 9 Resist

Afternoon All,
It's Day 9 of the Creative Expressions 30 Day Challenge, and today they are looking for Resist.

I have to say that it is among my favourite stamping techniques.

Here I have stamped and embossed with white embossing powder onto watercolour card stock.

I have then spritzed the card with water and flooded it with Pixie Powders.

I have tried to be fairly specific with the placement of the colours and then I've used a paintbrush to move the resulting paint around the image.

The white embossing acts as a resist to the paint and the beautiful poinsettia image 'pops' through. I stamped and embossed down the edge of the green card and then painted the image with thin undiluted bleach which turned the card a beautiful turquoise.

The stamp that I used down the edge of the previous card Foliage Corner was used on these next two.

I stamped and embossed a piece of mop up background and then painted the images before adding a sentiment.

My final card for today once again uses the beautiful Poinsettia background Poinsettia Lace designed by Jane Gill.
I hope that you are enjoying the fun challenges that Creative Expressions have been running. I don't know about you but I am finding it a welcome distraction, and a great way of sharing some of the cards that I have made over the years.
On the subject of Christmas cards, I have just taken receipt of Jane's new Christmas designs, so guess what I will be up to over the next couple of weeks :O)

Creative Expressions 30 Day Challenge - Day 8 Baby

Evening Everyone,
I hope that you are all OK. I have to admit that I am struggling a bit today, but there are people so much worse off than me, so I just need to put on my big girl pants and get through it.
Today is Day 8 of the 30 Day Challenge at Creative Expressions.

The challenge for today is New Arrival, so here are a few new baby cards that I made recently in a class on Edger Dies.

I used this fabulous 'It's a Girl' die over some handmade background paper.

I cut the teddy bear part of the die out of some kraft card to make him stand out.

I cut the bottom half of the die out of patterned paper and added some funky foam behind it to give the panel dimension.

 I hate to waste anything as you know, so here is a card that I made using some of the leftover pieces.

I always like a bit of paper piecing, and a few bits of bling.

This final card uses a fussy cut image from my stash.

I imagine we might have need for a few of these cards in 9 months time given the current lockdown situation. Covid-19 might be natures way of cutting down on the size of the population, but the lockdown will certainly put a dent in that I'm sure lol.
