Did you catch Jane on the TV?

 Evening All,

Did you catch Jane on Create and Craft this morning? Unfortunately she only had one show, but she still managed to get in some fabulous demos. I really must try out that Crackle Glaze technique that she showed us.

I made these cards using the fabulous JGS749 Clematis stamp set, white embossing powder and Pixie Powders.

This was a variation using slightly paler colours.

And this card used the same stamp but landscape, and in black on an inky background from my stash.

The sentiment is from another of Jane's stamp sets JGS751 Letting Go.

My turn to cook the dinner tonight so I had better get a wiggle on. 

M&S frozen French fries done in the Actifry. The Grandchildren say that they are better than McDonalds so I get a gold star for that lol.

Quirky Typewriter Alphabet.

 Evening Everyone,

Jane designed a fabulous alphabet set in her last stamp release. 

An alphabet set is always useful, and there are an upper and lower case set available JGB010 Quirky Typewriter Alphabet Caps and JGB011 Quirky Typewriter Alphabet Lowercase.

I combined the two and stuck with a very basic sentiment for this card, but the world is your oyster. You can write whatever you want, and personalizing a card becomes childs play.

I used Pixie powders for the background, and an embossing folder for a bit of detail on the card base.

Sorry I Forgot.....with update

 Evening,

Well that was certainly more than a shower this morning. We had torrential rain at about 6am, for well over an hour, but thankfully it has all disappeared. We always get a bit twitchy here in Whyteleafe whenever there is heavy rain since we have had major flooding more than once, and for several weeks at a time!!

I have been really bad with my card sending again this month, so I will be in need of these cards that I made a while ago using JGS652 Bold Blooms Olivia.

I stamped and embossed the floral image using white embossing powder,

and then used Pixie Powders to create the background colour

and also as a paint for specific parts of the image

I stamped and embossed the sentiment

and then chopped it up and edged it with a black sharpie.

This card uses Distress Oxides instead of Pixie Powders for both the background and painting.

EDIT - I found another card while I was tidying up some photos this afternoon, so I thought that I would just add it in here.

Very similar to the first couple of cards. In fact I think what I actually did was create a Masterboard/One Sheet Wonder and trimmed this panel from it, and then the other cards were made from the offcuts.

I love the sparkle that you get with Pixie Powders,

they make the most beautiful backgrounds, which never look the same.

Lino Cut Birch Trees

Evening All
I do love it when a stamp set can be used all year round not just for Christmas.

This card was made using one of Jane's designs Lino Cut Birch Trees which was part of a Christmas release a couple of years ago.

I think that you will agree that it works every bit as well for a birthday card, in fact if I am honest that is what I would use it for.

The backgrounds were made using inks, pixie powders and a Gelli Plate.

Here I just used torn paper masks and inks to create my landscape.

Pixie Powder Floral Frames

Evening Everyone,
It's still dull and rainy here, definitely not what you would expect after the glorious weather that we had last month.

Those of you that have been following me for a while will know that I absolutely love making backgrounds.

Anything inky and messy and I'm your girl, so here are a couple of cards made with some fabulous Pixie Powders. They are an amazing product which bursts into a host of different colours when you spritz them with water.

You never know what you are going to get, which is half the fun. The flowers on this card have been painted with bleach to give a stark contrast to the background.

You can also paint with them, as I have done here with the yellow flowers.

I have added a raised frame to this card

over a piece of dry embossed cardstock.
Of course being luck enough to have such lovely stamps to work with always helps. Thank you Jane Gill, Woodware and Creative Expressions.
I think I'm in for a very early night tonight, my early starts are catching up on me big time.

Seed Pods and Stems - Take two

Evening All,
Well let's try again shall we!!

Here are some of the samples that I loaned to Jane for her TV appearance last week. They use her fabulous Seed Pod and Stems.

I stamped and embossed them in gold on a piece of Pixie Powder background. I also stamped and embossed in black on a piece of white card and die cut a couple of circles which I place over the gold image, exactly matching the flowers. I couldn't see the strip of stamped card go to waste so I added it to the bottom of the panel.

This is also gold embossing onto Pixie Powder background with a strip of stamped and embossed vellum wrapped around the panel.

More Pixie Powders, this time over white embossing.

I have various types of watercolour card, so I was trying the colours out to see which cardstock worked best. But you know me, can't bear to throw anything away.

As you can see I sometimes get a bit carried away when sample making lol.
I'm going to quit while I'm ahead now. Besides which it's my night to cook, so the kitchen will be calling me very soon I'm sure.

Creative Expressions 30 Day Challenge - Day 19 - 1 Die Set

Morning Everyone,
Todays challenge over at the  Creative Expressions 30 Day Challenge is to use 1 Die Set.
Now I am hoping that this will count, it's not really a die set, but I have made several cards using it.

I do like these Paper Cuts Dies and this Honeysuckle Edger Die in particular. This card has been made from plain white cardstock, but I have layered it over a piece of Pixie Powder background that has been dry embossed.

This time cut from kraft card and layered over a piece of hand made background. The greeting was cut several times and stacked, and then highlighted with Glossy Accents.

This card uses a piece of handmade background created using Alcohol Inks and photo paper. I die cut the honeysuckle and then layered it over several different coloured pieces of cardstock.

This final card uses a piece of mop up background. That is the beauty of these fabulous dies, they are a great way of using up some of those handmade background pieces that I am sure you have in your stash.
My 3 month lockdown is finally coming to an end. I am getting back to work at last. Only 4 hours a day for the first couple of weeks but it is a start.
If I am honest, part of me is really looking forward to getting back to some sort of normality, but an even bigger part of me is actually shit scared, if you will pardon the expression.
I have every degree of admiration for those in the front line dealing with this horrible crisis. Mine is a very small part to play compared to those working in hospitals, so it will be nice to finally be able to do my bit.

Creative Expressions 30 Day Challenge - Day 18 - 1 Stamp Set

Morning All,
I hope that you are looking forward to a safe and happy Easter weekend.
It is Day 18 of the Creative Expressions 30 Day Challenge, and they are looking for you to use 1 stamp set.
I chose this one designed by Jane Gill for Woodware. It's called JGS593 Stitched Flowers.

I stamped and embossed the large floral image on to a piece of background  paper created using Pixie Powders.

I painted parts of the image with thin undiluted bleach,

and other parts with more of the Pixie Powders turned in to a paint.

I suppose that technically I have used more than one set because I have used sentiments from a different set JGS597 Some People but I do like my birthday greetings and I wanted something that I could cut up.

This is actually the same floral stamp set.

This time I used another piece of Pixie Powder background to stamp and emboss the image a couple of times.

 I then did a bit of fussy cutting and shaping,

before adding the flowers around a sentiment die cut into a circle.
I added some green pixie powder to the leaves and a little glitter glue to the flower centers.
I hope that you like them, and that it helps to show just how versatile Jane's stamps can be.

Creative Expressions 30 Day Challenge - Day 11 Pink

Evening Everyone,
I can't believe that we have already had 11 days of the 30 day challenge for Creative Expressions.

The challenge for today is Pink, although I think that mine are a little on the pinky/purple side of that. I hope that I will be forgiven for that.

The background was created with versamark ink and clear embossing powder for the flowers,

I then added plenty of water and Pixie Powders which I mixed a little bit with a paintbrush before adding a piece of crumpled cling film to the whole thing.

This technique does require a little patience, which I know us crafters are not particularly renowned for. It really is worth the wait though because when you peel away the cling film after the piece has dried you reveal this beautiful frosted glass effect.
The mica in the pixie powders dries in the folds of the cling film which doesn't happen if you take it away too quickly.
I really ought to dig this stamp set out, it is very relevant to today, just a shame that we don't know when we will be able to catch up with all of our friends and family.
Still the sooner everyone obeys the rules, the sooner we can all get back to some sort of normality.
