Bleedin Art Tissue - Part 1

Evening,
I am making a very concerted effort to wade my way through the hundreds of cards that I have to share with you.
With that in mind here are a few cards made using Bleedin Art Tissue.
It can be quite messy on the hands, but it makes the most amazing backgrounds. It is tissue paper that bleeds colour when sprayed with water, so a few torn pieces sandwiched between a couple of pieces of wet card can give you two fabulous backgrounds.
It is also easy to just place a couple of strips of the tissue on a piece of wet card to create an easy background for a stamped and embossed image.
Once the background was dry I stamped and embossed the poppies onto it and then used bleach to remove the colour from the tissue before colouring the flowers how I wanted them.
Another bit of background and some simple stamped images on this card.
I do wish we would get some sunshine so that my crafty mojo might put in a return appearance. It's a good job that I have got so many cards to share with you, as I certainly haven't been making many just recently. Oh well, there is always tomorrow.......and the next day.
Thanks for stopping by.

Lest We Forget

Evening,

Today is Armistice Day. Each year on the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month we remember all those that fought for us in the 'War to End All Wars' and all of the conflicts that have happened since.

The poppy has become a symbol of respect and support for the Armed Forces, Veterans and their families, so here is a card made using one.
This uses a fabulous rub-on which I added to a piece of white cardstock, before die cutting with an oval stitched die set from Creative Expressions.
The background uses an embossing folder, distress inks and gold gilding wax.
I have worn my poppy with pride and observed todays silence at 11am............Lest We Forget.

Let us Remember

Evening Everyone,

I can't believe that we have just celebrated one whole year in lockdown, how did that happen.

I was still off with my bad foot when it started, so having already been at home since the New Year in my own private 3 month lockdown I was strangely looking forward to going back to work, although I was also rather terrified in equal measure.

I am now very grateful for being able to go to work throughout. It has got me out of the house and given me contact with people, even if on occasions it has got me very riled with their idiotic behaviour.

I feel so sorry for people like my Mum and several of my crafty friends who have barely set foot outside the door these past 12 months. In fact the highlight of my Mum's past few weeks has been her trips to the nurse to get her leg dressed having injured it again. Perhaps she did it on purpose so that she could escape.......I hadn't thought of that lol.

The Crafty Girls are all on countdown, eagerly awaiting a socially distanced get together next week, provided the new rules don't change again. Davina has got the garden chairs and tables ready and has even got the large gazebo down from the loft so that we can still meet up even if it rains. That is how desperate we are to get together. A little bit of normality to look forward to.

One of the ladies makes awesome cakes which she brings along to classes and she has already promised that there will be cake for our get together..............I can't wait. Hang the diet, for that day at least.

We have had to split the gathering up over two days otherwise there would be too many of us, but it is a start.

I usually share my DT samples with them in class, so I will have quite a few folders to take with me.
These are a couple of cards that I made last year using the stunning poppy stamp UMSDB031 Remember from the Designer Boutique range.
I do love a 2FER, 2 cards for the price of one.
I stamped and embossed the image on to a piece of mop up background and then again on red cardstock.
I cut the panel in half and added each to the image stamped on the red card stock matching it exactly. I then trimmed the panels and added faux stitching and fine mounts.
The sentiment on this card has been added on a panel of vellum which allows the design to show through.
Perhaps I had better decide on which folders to take next week, after all there are rather a lot to choose from. In the mean time I have another couple of boxes to fill with stamps courtesy of my daughter. Perhaps I can empty another shelf, that would be some progress.
Thanks for stopping by.
Stay safe and hugs

We will Remember Them

On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.................we will remember them.

As the poppy has become a symbol of remembrance here are  a few cards that I made using one of Jane Gill's fabulous new designs for Woodware.
It is a beautiful large design, but I wanted you to know that you don't always have to use the whole thing. Here I turned it into an oval panel with a die.
Here I have created a spotlight of colour on a black and white stamped and embossed panel.
And this one uses the trimmings for the previous card. The pieces were far too nice to throw away so I wove them together and added them to a stamped and embossed image on kraft card.
I hope that you will be able to observe the 2 minutes silence at 11am today.
Thanks for stopping by.
Stay safe and Remember Them.

Remember Them

 Hi All,

Today in the UK we celebrate Remembrance Sunday, so here is a card that I made using one of fabulous Designer Boutique stamps designed for Creative Expressions to celebrate the day.

A poppy is the traditional flower to commemorate this day,
so I coloured it in traditional colours.
I die cut the coloured panel and mounted it onto a black mat
before layering it onto a 3D embossed panel highlighted with Razzamatazz Lustre polish.
Unfortunately most of the usual parades and memorial ceremonies have been cancelled so we have had to observe the 2 minutes silence at home.
Stay safe and remember all of those who died to save us all.

Set Back Stamping

Evening Everyone,
I hope that you have had a good Saturday.
I know the weather wasn't particularly brilliant this morning but that didn't seem to stop people last week, so I can only assume that people were either in the pub or the hairdressers today as the park was practically deserted when we went for our walk lol.
People have shown great ingenuity though as last night we saw a young man having a haircut while sitting outside on one of the pieces of gym equipment in the park. Neither thing allowed on Friday, but you can't fault them for creative thinking.
One of the classes that we did in the last few weeks before lockdown spoilt everything, came from an idea that I found on Jennifer McGuire's blog.
She called it Set Back Stamping, and it is a great way to use some of those stamps that I own which have co-ordinating dies.
Where this wonderful lady gets all her ideas from is beyond me, but she is a great source of material for classes so I am very grateful to her.
As well as the 'set back' idea I used the same stamp and die set for this flatter card.
I rather like the shadow that it created around one side of the poppies.
This lovely leafy Altenew stamp gave me a 'Twofer'.
Check our Jennifer's blog post for step by step instructions, she does it so much better that I ever could, besides which she also does videos which are always very useful to watch.
This is the card that I made with the left over stamped image.
This card used a strip of green card that I had in my stash, so I decided to use the whole strip on the one card,
raising the central portion instead of the outside pieces.
I kept the colouring very simple, just using a little thin undiluted bleach to colour the image on the green cardstock.
Thanks for stopping by. Have a great Sunday.
Stay safe and hugs

Happy VE Day

Evening Everyone,
What a glorious day it has been for all the fabulous socially distanced street parties to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of VE Day.
I've been trying to find something suitable to post today, so here is a card that I made a while ago using a lovely poppy image. Lest We Forget.
The background was created during a class on Alcohol inks, Alcohol Lift inkpad and Yupo.
I was showing The Girls how you could reuse the Yupo numerous times to create a background from which to 'lift' an image.
After everyone had used the same piece of yupo and ink colours I was left with a rather dark piece which I had also used to show them how to add foils to.
I decided to cut into the card using a Tim Holtz corner die and then added the stamped, embossed and coloured poppy image. Fortunately it has a co-ordinating die which made cutting it out so much easier.
I also added a die cut sentiment with shadowed background.
I also found another poppy card, this time using a stamp designed by Francoise for Woodware.
I love working with Alcohol inks, but trying to photograph glossy cardstock is a right pain. I have a small light box, but I can never seem to get the angles right so that the strip light in the top of the box doesn't show up.
Enjoy your parties and raised glasses over the garden fence, but please stay safe and follow the rules.
Have a great weekend.

Purple Poppies

Morning All,
I hope that you are having a great weekend.
I found this fabulous poppy stamp at Ally Pally a few years ago.
It is a Carabelle Art stamp called Pretty Like a Flower.
I used it here with the 'Bump and Smudge' technique that has become quite a favourite of mine.
I didn't think that the cards needed anything much more than a sentiment
and a few gems or nail heads.
I think I might have to dig this stamp out again, I had forgotten how nice it is.
Have a great day.
Happy Crafting and hugs

A Host of Poppy Cards

Evening All
Only one more day at work this week, thank goodness, and then hopefully I can remain warm for a couple of days as there is no sign of our doors being fixed any time soon!!
We had a fabulous class at Davina's last Saturday playing with two beautiful Hobby Art Poppy stamps.
I love this stamp in particular.
This card was made using a piece of handmade background paper, distress inks and a bit of Wink of Stella.
It was great to use up some bits of handmade background paper.
I used some mica powder on the background card here and added some Faux Card Candi.
The inspiration for these cards came from the lovely Lisa B, and an idea that she shared at a Hobby Art workshop a couple of months ago.
This makes use of a piece of background created when playing with my Gelli Plate.
And this one as well.
It is a great way of using up those scraps of background that are
too small for a complete card,
but too good to throw away.
And even those pieces that you are really not sure about until they are cut up lol.
Here you are Ina, I've made a very small dent in blogging my stash of cards. Perhaps I will manage a few more tomorrow.
Hugs Kimx
