Mop Up with Bubble Blooms

Evening All,

More tree wrapping this afternoon, and more stupid comments about keeping them warm, along with the benches that we are also wrapping with knitting.

To be fair there were also some nice complimentary comments and plenty of interest, and even a couple of donations to the charity tin that we always carry in our basket along with secateurs, needles, wool, scissors and other important essential items.

Here are another couple of cards made using one of Jane's fabulous new Bubble stamps which launched this week.

This time I have used JGS794 Bubble Bloom Trinny.

I do love a mop up background as you know.

Here I used a piece of watercolour card to mop up my inks so there is a little added texture in the background.

Some of the 'bubbles' have been painted with bleach to remove the colour.

Here are another couple of cards, this time using a white embossed image and Distress Inks.

I used the same colours - Prize Ribbon, Crushed Olive and Mermaid Lagoon on each of the samples,

but it is amazing how different they all look.

I have added glossy accents, and a very thin die cut frame to the last two cards.

I have also added some Snow and Ice Lustre Polish to the dry embossed background panels on each of the cards.

I have an old Sparkle Pen with a really nice brush nib which has run out of sparkle, so I now use it as a waterbrush. Each time I refill it with water it reactivates the small amount of sparkle left in the barrel to give just a hint of it to my painting.

You see us crafters never like to waste anything lol.

Another early night I think. I may not have made it to the gym this week, but bending and stretching while wrapping trees and benches has definitely given me a bit of a workout...........and I'm shattered.

Bubble Bloom Millie

Evening All,

Creative Expressions have launched some more of Jane's fabulous Bubble Bloom stamps this week, and I was lucky enough to get to play with them and make samples for the catalogue.

I think one of my favourites from this collection is JGS801 Bubble Bloom Millie

I inked the stamp up with several colours of Distress Inks - Crushed Olive, Forest Moss, Gathered Twigs and Ground Espresso.

Then I spritzed the stamp with water and stamped it onto a piece of wet watercolour cardstock. The colour bleeds across the wet card. Heat set the image, or allow it to dry naturally and then stamp back over the top with a dark ink pad to give a nice crisp image. This crisp image can be coloured in as well for a more traditional look. A Stamping platform of some sort is best for this technique.

This card was made in a similar manner,

although two cards never turn out the same.

I also added some extra stamping using JGS800 Bubble Texture Blots.

Chalked Thanks

Hi All,

Many years ago I was lucky enough to be involved in writing articles for several different crafting magazines.

One of these involved creating a box of cards as a Thank You gift.

I chose to use a combination of Decorating Calks, Versamark and Vellum.

I used a variety of stamps including ones from Impression Obsession and Hero Arts.

I stamped the images onto the cardstock or vellum using the Versamark ink pad, and then added Decorating Chalks using a cotton wool ball. 

I also added some stamped and embossed sentiments and even a few white inked sentiments as well.

I still have the box of cards from the article, although the box has become a little battered over the years, so I decided to repurpose it by turning the lid into a further square card,

and the sides of the lid into strips across these smaller cards.

The kraft coloured sentiments on them are from Stamps by Me, and are actually wide Washi Tape with a co-ordinating die so that you can cut out a heap of them all at the same time........very useful.

I'm on extra babysitting detail today as Becki's child care has let her down. It's a shame it is so miserable today so we will be stuck in doors for most of it. Still, we will be backwards and forwards to the school for drop offs and pickups, so I'm sure that there will be plenty of puddles for them to jump in. They are all busy playing at the moment, so I snuck in the chance to write my post a little earlier than usual.

Celebrating Your Birthday with Tulips

Evening All,

Another card created for the Layering Die Cut classes last Saturday. In fact this card is the reason behind adding this particular class to the schedule.

I made each of The Crafty Girls a card for Easter using this particular die, which prompted a request for a class on this type of layered card.

It really is very easy, although it does require rather a lot of die cutting.

I decided to make this panel into a birthday card to showcase it's versatility.

Evening All,

I've had a fabulous crafty day, finishing off all the bits and pieces from my Layered Die Cutting classes on Saturday. I have been determined not to leave a pile of bits and pieces that need finishing, and my OCD won't let me move on until I have done it, so all in all a successful day.

I was obviously in a bit of an oriental mode when doing my die cutting, I do love the red and black combo, it is so striking.

I added kraft card behind the layered panel and a little gold with some glitter card.

The sentiment is from Crafters Companion. It is from an interchangeable sentiment set called Lovely Vines which also contains the sentiments Best Wishes and Best Friend along with a background frame of swirling foliage. I fussy cut around the sentiment to remove the foliage but still keep the shadow.

I had die cut loads of flowers as well, so I added a co-ordinating one along with some foliage sprigs.

Early start tomorrow, so I had better get some sleep.

Evening All,

I hope that you have had a great day. We had a fantastic class on Layering Dies today. It seems that all the Crafties have had a sh...y couple of weeks, so it was wonderful to be able to sit and play in good crafty company.

There is always plenty to take along to class, but today I decided that the best way to proceed was for everyone to have a mad die cutting session which that could then use to finish cards at home.

Everyone agreed, and there were some fabulous colour combos put together.

I'm afraid that I didn't manage to get any pictures taken tonight, so here is a card from my stash using a small handmade tag and some bleach on the embossed background images.

Multi Layer Stars

Evening All,

I'm all packed up and ready for class tomorrow, I think all of the Crafties are in need of a fabulous creative day. I haven't quite managed to finish all of my samples, but I have got quite a few, and plenty of dies for them to play with.

There seems to be a bit of an oriental feel to my colour choices.

The layered die on this card is from Crafts Too,

as are the lovely flower dies.

The sentiment has been die cut from holographic card, the same as the base layer in the die cuts.

Better go and set my alarms for tomorrow morning, I don't want to oversleep.

Sending Happy Thoughts

Evening All,

We've had quite a change in weather today, well over night anyway. Thunder and lightening rumbling around, and it has been much colder, which I have to say has been much more my thing.

Here are another couple of cards made using Decorating Chalks.

For once I was actually able to find some background papers to match the panel on this card.

It was nice to be able to take some wood mounted stamps to play with in class, 

including this lovely floral design.

I used it in the book, but I can't remember who manufactured it.

I finished off all of the panels with a few gems, some faux stitching, and in this case some ribbon.

Busy Die Cutting

Evening All,

I have been a busy bunny over the last couple of days frantically die cutting in preparation for Saturdays class on Layering Dies.

Given just how many layering style dies I own, I decided that the quickest thing to do was to die cut all the layers, and then put the panels together, and then turn the panels in to finished cards.

I've managed to put several panels together, now I just have to finish them off before Saturday. Perhaps I need a bunch of die cut flowers and sentiments.

Pretty in Pink

Evening All,

I've said before that I never know how a card is going to turn out until I start to play, and sometimes it just evolves from left over bits and pieces on my desk.

This is one such card, made with leftover bits and pieces of cardstock, and a small chalked panel.

I also added a sentiment, some ribbon and a few peel-off strips.
