Up, Up and Away

Hi
What truly bizarre weather we have had here today. We seem to have had just about everything from dull but boiling hot to pouring rain. I think the only thing missing is the snow :)
Hope I haven't spoken too soon.

Just a really quick post tonight, I hadn't realized just how it late it had got.
I've made my baby cards but finished them too late to photograph so I will share them with you tomorrow.
This card was made for Barbara and uses the Large and Medium Hot Air Balloon stamps.

I've stamped the images onto coloured background paper which I have then cut out and placed over the images in the squares, there is also some masking involved.

A little more colour

Evening Everyone
I did promise that I would post something with a little more colour after my last two monochromatic offerings, so I hope these fit the bill.

They were made for Barbara's show last weekend.  They both use a background panel created using several colours of Adirondack ink pads - caramel, cranberry and lettuce, deliciously edible don't you think.

I have added several Small Butterflies also coloured using the ink pads. The background panel has had Small Leafy Swirl stamped randomly over it using second generation ink from the Cranberry ink pad.

This second card is made using a similarly coloured background panel. I have added a Clarity greeting from a previous show To the World you may be... which has been cut out using a Nestie and mounted over a piece of ribbon.

Both cards have had Glimmer Mist sprayed over them to give them a little bit of a shimmer.
Better get back to my cards now, I have a couple of baby cards to make this weekend as well as lots of birthday cards to finish off.

I'm in the Ideas Gallery in Craft Stamper

Hi All

I'm afraid its another Monochromatic card tonight, now that wasn't well planned on my part was it lol.
I've just received my copy of the June edition of Craft Stamper. My card is featured in the Idea Gallery on page 73, bottom right hand corner. As usual I have designed the card using items supplied by Janice and Andy at Sirstampalot.
I forgot that the mag was due out today when I put my post on the blog last night, Oh well never mind you can never get too much black and white in my opinion.

The gallery page is always themed both in content and colour which I actually rather enjoy. As I just mentioned this time it was Black and White with a Masculine theme. I made the card using Penny Black Japanese Maple 3932K and Hobby Art Happy Birthday  GR1853C.

I love this leaf stamp and I thought that it worked brilliantly for a Man's card.

I really must post something with a bit more colour tomorrow or you will think this is all I can do :)

London in Monochrome

I'm having trouble getting creatively motivated tonight, so I thought that I would share one of the cards that I made for Barbara instead before I go to bed.

This card was very appropriate given all the goings on in London on Friday with the Royal Wedding.
I decided that I would stick with Black and white, a definite favourite of mine. I created the background for the London Framer by stamping each of the small images from the Remountable London set randomly on to a piece of white card using second and third generation ink.

'London' was stamped and embossed on to white card and a mortise mask was made for the O. The small scene was then created within the O and the entire thing cut out using a hexagonal nestie. Hope you like it.

An evening at Lavender Lane and more cakes.

Afternoon All.
I had a lovely evening class at Lavender Lane yesterday. We did some embossed resist using Hobby Art stamps including Anna's collection Just for You among others.

Once the panels were made we added some sparkle with crystal embossing power, and as the class was 'Dazzling Diamonds' there were some vellum diamonds and cuttlebugged backgrounds.

I cut the vellum using a Nellie Snellan style nestie and then accented it with my embossing tool. I attached the vellum to the card using brads.
The ladies all managed to come up with totally different colour combinations which is just brilliant. The coffee and the conversation flowed, with many glowing remarks about my cards on the Clarity show on Sunday, so all in all a good time was had by all I think. We are going to do another evening class in June.

Last week was a rather frantic one in the caking department of our household. Firstly Jason made this cake for a friend of his who was leaving her job at Barclay's Bank.

 Unfortunately she had been ill so she didn't get her final specifications to Jay until the very last minute.

I think she was pleased with the finished results, although I know Jason feels that he could have done better. He is very much the perfectionist.

On Friday of last week we found out that the cake being made for Tyler's birthday on Sunday had fallen through. Not .wishing him to have a party without a cake Jason volunteered to make one.

No sooner had the dust settled from the 'bank job' (delivered Thursday afternoon), than we were back to clouds of icing sugar and a bright red fire engine complete with Fireman Sam.

I think you will agree it was a sterling effort and much appreciated by Mum and Dad even if all Tyler wanted to do was snatch the figures lol.

Megan is having her own sleepover party with her girlfriends this weekend and I know Jason has a cake planned for that so I don't think we will be sugar free for much longer.

May seems to be an exceptionally busy month for cards so I had better get back to work if I am going to make a dent in my list.

Just Me thinking of You

Evening All,
As I mentioned before May 1st is a very busy and special day in our house, since as well as the two birthdays I have already blogged about it would also have been my Mum and Dad's 61st Wedding Anniversary.

I always make Mum a card on these occasions, just to let her know that we are still thinking of her.

Unfortunately I didn't give a thought to all the Bank Holidays so this will be late getting to her, but it is sent with much love none the less.

It has been made using a Clarity collage stamp, dye based ink, a Hero Arts greeting, plenty of bling and some magic mesh.

I have actually had to send several 'Thinking of You' cards this week. This one is for Jason's Mum as it would have been her Wedding Anniversary tomorrow. This was actually pulled from my box of cards so I am struggling to remember the stamps. I think it is Hero Arts again if memory serves although the greeting is by Woodware .

This one has some glimmer mist added as well as vellum and brads. Another favourite Penny Black stamp. I do like these solid floral ones they make for wonderful stamped panels and backgrounds.

This final card has a leaf panel mounted over some hand made background paper. I had great fun making this, lots of ink, water and screwed up paper.
Better sign off now, I'm not looking forward to work tomorrow as I'm stuck in the Wild Bean Cafe. Lots of cooking and coffee making and washing my hands 600 times. Still at least I have a nice evening to look forward to, to make up for it.
We are trying out some evening classes at Lavender Lane, and this will be the first of them. I always enjoy classes there with my 'Groupies', and of course Gill to entertain us. I must make sure the kettle is on ready.

Wow what a special day.

Evening Everyone
We have had a wonderful if hectic day here with a house full of people, and NO rain so the BBQ went ahead as planned.

This is a picture of my Granddaughter Megan, the Birthday Girl, with the card that I made her (see previous post) She loved the card, although I'm not sure that it could quite compete with the double mention on National TV. Thank you sooo much Barbara you certainly made a young ladies day.

This is the card that I made for Tyler who also shares Megan's birthday. I told you it was a special day. 

This has been made using a Woodware clear stamps set called  Jungle Pals. I have coloured the image using dye based inks.

I decoupaged the lion's head and added some stamped leaves to the gingham background paper panel.

This is the Birthday boy being held by my Grandson Reece, Megan's younger brother.
Must get to bed now as I have to go to work tomorrow. It may be a Bank Holiday but the garage where I work will still be open.

By the way, I think that all my cards got shown this time on Barbara's shows so all that hard work was worth it. Hope you liked them, I will try and get them on the blog in the next few days.

Happy Birthday to a special young lady.

Good morning,
Today is a very special day in our house, it's my eldest Granddaughter Megan's 11th birthday. I think that I might have just made her day. She has just been wished a Happy Birthday on National TV by Barbara Grey and the rest of the studio - how cool is that!!

I dropped my cards over to Barbara on Friday afternoon for today's shows, Create and Craft channel 671 10am till 12 midday and 2pm till 3pm. (Sorry I know this is a bit late for the first show)

While I was there on my very fleeting visit I asked Barbara if she would do me a big favour and wish Megan a Happy Birthday if she got the chance. Given how nerve wracking live TV must be I was most impressed and very grateful that she remembered. You should have seen Megan's face it was an absolute picture. I think I might definitely be Number One Mam-ma, at least for today lol.

This is the card that I made for Megan. It uses one of the Sugar Nellie Manga Girls and the pose could have been made for her:) I've added lots of flowers, pearls and ribbon.

The sentiment is by Lili of the Valley and has had a couple of tiny crystals added to it. I added them to the Manga Girls dress too.

I made it in Red and Black so that it will go with her bedroom. It's not quite Betty Boo but it was the nearest that I could get.

As I said the attitude is very Megan, she is 11 going on about 25. Don't they get the teenage hormones earlier these days? I'd better get going we have a house full this afternoon as it is also Megan's 2nd cousin's 1st birthday today and we are having a BBQ at ours.

Enjoy your Special Day

Evening All
Why do BBQ's take so long to prepare and cook in comparison to eating them? I suppose to be fair there are 8 of us, or 9 if you count the cat who faired very well with all the bits that ended up on the floor lol.

You see I told you that the weather would change. Today has definitely been cooler, lets hope that the rain they are predicting holds off for a few more days.
This card is one that I loaned Jenny for her TV show today. It was made with one of the pieces that I created at Ally Pally and of course uses the wonderful Anna's collection Just for You.

The stamped panel shows off the embossed resist technique and has then been layered over background paper and cuttlebugged panels.

Of course a card wouldn't be the same without a little bit of bling would it Gill :)
Don't forget Jenny has two more shows on tomorrow at 8am and 1pm. Mustn't forget to set the sky box to record them.

Treasure the Memories

Afternoon Everyone
I hope that you have all had a lovely Easter.
I had a quick trip round blogland yesterday and was bizarrely heartened to see that I was not alone in feeling that I had lost my mojo, many of you are obviously feeling the same.
Despite the glorious weather we have been having (although we did get some thunder rumble around us on Sunday afternoon) I have been finding it hard to get motivated.
Maybe its because I'm under time pressure for TV work again - who knows.

Anyway I thought that I would share some more of the frames that I finished after the class at Lavender Lane the other week.
This first one is made using a cuttlebugged design. This picture of my dear Dad was taken many years ago. The young lady in the picture, my niece Lauren, will be 16 this year!!! Wasn't she cute? She will probably never talk to me again now for posting this :)

The flowers are hand made by yours truly, all except the white ones that is.

This one uses the Magenta Frame I got from Sir Stampalot. I have stamped and embossed it onto Bazzil card stock and then painted the swirls with bleach.

The flowers this time are all shop bought. They are from my stash which I added to at Ally Pally. All the frames have a few gems on them, but I'm not sure that they show up very well.

This blue frame has been made in exactly the same way as the one above, only this time I have coloured the swirls using a white Gelly roll glaze pen.

The flowers here are a mixture of shop bought and hand made.
My Granddaughter Saskia loves checking out the blog to see pictures of her and her twin brother Ciaran. As soon as I open the computer she wants to see them, even though the originals are on display on a shelf in my room. The modern generation and their technology lol.

I've been at work at the garage again today. It's been so busy, they have been queueing out the doors for most of the day.
We are planning a BBQ this evening just like the rest of England, so that will probably be the kiss of death to the weather.

A palace for a Princess

Evening Everyone.
The phantom cake maker has been at it again.

This castle was made by my Sin-in-law Jason (a tyre and exhaust fitter for those of you who have just joined my blog!!!). It was made for his best friends eldest daughter.

He took over the kitchen for several days and everything has a distinctly dusty feel due to copious amounts of icing sugar that were sifted around, but I think the end result was worth all the effort. Everyone at the party certainly seemed to think so anyway.

My Granddaughter Megan suggested the drawbridge and every thing has a liberal sprinkling of fairy dust although that is very hard to show off in the pictures. Even the grass around the castle has been hand textured, quite a labour of love.

My small contribution was a card from my box for the birthday girl. I made it some time ago with an old Magnolia stamp from Sir Stampalot 1165D Tilda in Boots. The sentiment is by Hobby Art.

I have hundreds of finished cards but very few ready made for little girls or boys so this was quite a find, especially as they didn't ask about a card till they were just about to walk out the door lol.
