Christmas Collage at Woodware

Hi All
I'm hoping that Blogger has been kind this morning and that this post has gone through as scheduled.
I am filling in for the lovely Siobhan for a couple of weeks so that she can have some time off.
The challenge at Woodware this week is Christmas Collage so I consulted Google for a definition, and this is what I came up with.

• A composition of miscellaneous materials and objects
• An assemblage of diverse elements

 

I have been playing with some of the fabby new Embossing Folders from Dreamweaver that arrived for me while I have been at SirStampalot.
I can't believe that when you are reading this I will be on the last day of my 'holiday', boo hoo. It goes far too quickly. Still March isn't that far away I suppose, which is when I will be back.

I sponged a piece of cardstock with some dye based inks (red, brown and green) before dry embossing it with FJ922 Christmas Borders one of the Dreamweaver Embossing Folders.

Then I used the same brown dye based ink pad to go all over the image using the inkpad directly on to the cardstock.

By keeping the inkpad flat and using a swirling motion the ink hits the 'highs' of the embossed image which then highlights the nice pattern.

Some of my favourite embellishments at the moment are the Metallic Wax Pastes which I add with a 3/8 inch  stencil brush because I can get the wax out of the pot because of my finger nails!!

The gold shows up much better here.

I used one of the sentiments from JGS353  Festive Verse cut out with a circle die and lightly inked using the same colours.

The flourish, ribbon and pin are also from my new box of toys.

The Dreamweaver Embellishment pin has been coloured with an alcohol based marker and the flourish has been cut from brown card using DM2001 Petite Fern.

The Distressed Cotton Ribbon is also from Woodware and comes in several colours and widths.

Aqua and Pink + Flower for Our Creative Corner

Evening Everyone,
I'm starting the New Year as I mean to go on, or at least that's my hope anyway.
I've been trying to get a little more organised when checking out my favourite challenges, so I've been writing copious lists and printing pictures of sketches that I want to use. I'm sure that it can't last...........but at least for the moment let's give it a go.
This is the card that I made for the first challenge of 2013 over at Our Creative Corner where they are looking for Aqua and Pink plus Flowers.

The main panel on the card is a Penny Black stamp Floral Thread 40-135 which has been stamped and embossed using Versamark and White Embossing powder.

I have sponged it with Distress inks Victorian Velvet and Evergreen Bough, before trimming it and mounting it onto a piece of pink gingham paper.
The zig-zag stitching has also been stamped and embossed in white using a clear stamp that I have. Sorry not sure who makes it.

I have added several flowers which were coloured and fussy cut out of a second stamped image.
The sentiment is from a Woodware clear stamp set designed by Jane Gill, and has been cut out with one of my trusty Circular Nesties and mounted onto an Aqua coloured Scalloped Circle.

I added a piece of Medical Gauze under the circular panel before attaching the shaped flowers, stamen and pins using Silicon glue.
I got the idea for the gauze from the lovely Sara when she brought some of her fantastic samples into SirStampalot when I was staying there in November.

I rushed straight out and bought some, and then forgot all about it, as you do.
I had to laugh when the assistant asked if I wanted Sterile Gauze!!
I hadn't got the heart to tell her I wanted it to adorn a greetings card not a cut knee, I'm not sure that she would have understood.

I've been a very good girl so far this year and I have made myself write my blogpost and catch up on a bit of commenting and e-mails before I allow myself time to play.
The trouble is that I can see me being very late to bed now if I am going to get any playtime in at all.
Better press publish, I have a card to finish!!

Shabby Chic challenge at The Stamp Man

Evening Everyone
Today sees the start of a new challenge over at The Stamp Man where the lovely Brenda is looking forward to seeing your Shabby Chic or Distressed creations.
Sorry that my post is much later than it should be, but it was due a spot of unexpected babysitting. Pocahontas this time, and a bit of their Easter egg :)
Before I share my card I just wanted to thank everyone who entered my vellum challenge.
I'm really not looking forward to having to pick a winner, but I will be popping in on everyone over the next few days so don't forget to check out The Stamp Man blog on Friday to see who I finally picked.

For my card for this challenge I chose the lovely Stampendous CRP147 Cling Butterfly Post.
Amazingly so did at least two of the other Design Team, how spooky is that lol.
I decided to go with my second colour choice and opted for Pink and Brown. 

I stamped and embossed the image using Versafine Vintage Sepia and clear embossing powder, and then added colour using Victorian Velvet and Brushed Corduroy Distress inks. I painted the butterfly with the same inks and then added a little sparkle with a Gelly Roll glaze pen. 
I tore round the panel and distressed the edges before mounting it on to the card which has an added panel of background paper and a punched border..

The flowers are made using the latest addition to my crafty stash Spellbinders Shapeabilities Bitty Blossoms.

They were cut from background paper from my stash, and I also added some punched leaves, buds, pearls and a pin.
If I'm brutally honest I'm not totally sure what Shabby Chic is so I do hope that this fits the bill lol.

Just a Quick post

Evening Everyone
Just a quick post tonight as I am absolutely shattered.

This card was made for Jenny at Hobby Art using one of the lovely new Butterfly Kisses stamp sets called Frosty that she launched on the TV. I have used only the elements from the set, white heat embossing and some sponged inks.

The greeting, also from the set, has been cut out using a nestie and then some ribbon, flowers, pins and a snowflake have been added.
I'm sorry for the very brief post but I have found today a struggle. I heard first thing this morning of the death of an old friend and it has quite knocked me for six.

Two Little Girls

Hi
I hope that you have all been having a wonderful Saturday. I have been reveling in the peace and quiet. Although it was Megan's birthday on 1st May her party had been postponed until today. Five extra bodies plus a friend for Reece!! She is having a sleepover so I can see some late night blogging in my future lol.
In the meantime they have been swimming so I have been making the most of it.

I told you that I had a couple of new baby cards to make, well I had to add another baby girl one to the list after I found out that an old friend is now a Daddy.

This first card was made today for Mathu and Kavitha on the birth of baby Kaavya on 12th April. I made it with one of the lovely Lilli of the Valley Babies die cut sheets.
I love them as you will have noticed from the last few posts. I do stamp and colour in myself honest but these are just so brilliant when time is short.

I cut out the image and circular background using a Nestie and mounted it over more background paper and pearlescent card stock.

Of course flowers are a must and the pink ones have been made using my new  Marianne Creatable Flowers and Leaves LR0162 and LR0163.

This second card has also been made using a Lili of the Valley Babies die cut. Making this one really does make me feel old since I remember the Mother being born and here she is giving birth to her third child!!!

The greeting is also by Lili of the Valley and is from their Circular Sentiments clear stamps sheet. More flowers but not hand made this time I'm afraid.

Everyone has now returned so my peaceful afternoon is officially over.
