Happy 1st Birthdays

Morning All
I can't believe that it has been a over a week since Emma's 1st birthday party, and I still haven't shared her card with you.
I just couldn't resist some Hobby House toppers when I was at the show in Doncaster last month.
They are always so useful when time is in short supply,

or when the image looks just like my cheeky Granddaughter Emma.
Not that she makes a habit of strangling small birds you understand - honest lol.

I decided to keep the card fairly simple as I wanted to incorporate the lovely wooden letters which were also purchased at the show.

The sentiment and number are from a fantastic Hobby Art stamp set which is going to prove very useful over the next few years.

I layered my topper over a rosette of card cut using the Tim Holtz Mini Paper Rosettes die.

While we are on the subject of 1st birthdays, here is the card that I made for Myla, my Great Niece, way back in May.
A LOTV topper this time and some rose themed papers as she is Myla Amelia Rose.

Black and White at WoodwareWitterings

Morning Everyone,
It's Monday again, and time for another challenge at WoodwareWitterings where this time it is one of my favourite colour combos - Black and White. I think that it looks very classy.

I have used one of Jane Gill's new stamp sets JGS479 - Bubble Bloom Linda stamped and embossed in black onto a circle of white card.

The background to the card has been created using the same stamp, this time randomly stamped and embossed onto black card stock.

I coloured all of the images using Gelli Roll glaze pens (both black and white),

as well as a silver Stardust pen.
I also added a few extra dots along the stems.

The sentiment, which has been layered over a piece of black ribbon, is actually part of another of Jane's stamp sets, only this time it is a Christmas one, JGS457 - Hand Drawn Greetings.

I used the sentiment from the original Bubble Bloom set for this second card which was made for the Woodware catalogue.

WoodwareWitterings Sketch 53

Morning Everyone,
We have a sketch for you to work with this week over at WoodwareWitterings, and today it is my turn to play.

I have chosen one of Jane Gill's stamp sets JGS370 Calendula Bloom,

stamped and embossed onto Mixed Media cardstock using Vintage Sepia Versafine ink and clear embossing powder.

I sponged the panel with dye based ink and pieces of cut and dry foam.

No precision colouring for me I'm afraid, all except the stem and leaves.

I stamped and coloured a second flower head and cut it out using a circular die before layering it over another circle made from dark brown card stock.

The band across my card has been created from a strip of vellum and a sentiment stamped and embossed onto a small piece of card.

To add a little extra interest I stamped around the edge of the panel with the clean flower stamp which I had spritzed with water.
This gives a fabulous watery image in the background, and for the finishing touches some tiny card candi punched from the waste and some faux stitching.
No waste in the making of this card, so just for a change there is only one card to share with you lol.

Birthday Party for a Little Lady (warning picture heavy post)

Afternoon Everyone,
I hope that you all had a wonderful weekend.
We had a great time celebrating at Emma's 1st birthday party.

She had a very quiet time

on Thursday 28th July which was her actual birthday

although she did enjoy playing with the helium filled balloons.

We had a car full of shopping getting ready for Sundays get together.

And if you look very carefully you can just see a little person who thought that all of those crisps were just too fun not to play with lol.
She is in there, honest.

 And here she is on Sunday, little miss cutie pie,

 having a lovely time with Mummy,

 and Auntie Jenni.

Her cake was a bit of a generational collaboration. Cake, hill and grass by Great Grandma or Granpat as she is affectionately known and fimo everything else by Mummy.

Emma thought that they were brilliant even if Mummy wasn't pleased with her efforts.
These were actually mark 2. She was going to go for third time lucky but time ran out. Personally I think they are fantastic.

We were lucky enough to be able to spend the day outside in the garden as the weather was glorious.
We invaded my Mum's house for the day, although we were very careful to put it all back to normal after all the party guests had gone home.
Emma must have walked miles around the garden with everyone.
She had an amazing time, but wouldn't give in for any more than a very short power nap in the late afternoon so she must have been exhausted by the time she got to bed.
Now I had better, catch up on a few things after my hectic weekend.
I've had my little power nap, so it's back to the craft room.

Happy 1st Birthday Miss Tickle

Evening Everyone
I can't believe how quickly this year has flown by.
It seems only yesterday that I was in Stoke celebrating the birth of a very special young lady, my youngest granddaughter Emma.

And here we are exactly a year later celebrating her 1st birthday.

She is such a cheeky little thing,

always full of smiles. Although I do wish that she would sleep through the night for her poor Mum.
Becki has organized a party for her at the weekend so we are going to give her all of her presents and cards then. Parties are for the grownups at this age so I can't see her minding if she has to wait for them.

We did celebrate on her behalf with a very nice chocolate cake.
Couldn't find a candle so a tealight had to do lol.

Wrap over/around cards for WoodwareWitterings.

Good morning Everyone,
I hope that you are still enjoying the weather. (This is a scheduled post so I do hope that the sun is still shining and that we are not wading our way through several inches of rain water lol)
Today it is my turn to share a Wrap over/around card for WoodwareWitterings.

Now I must admit that sometimes Dorothy's choices for us really stump me, but then I guess that is exactly what a challenge is supposed to do, make you think.

I couldn't come up with a fancy card shape, so I stuck with a very literal interpretation and created a parcel out of stamped images which I 'wrapped around' with ribbon.

My parcel was created using an old Christmas stamp, versamark and some mica powders.
I stamped the image four times and cut away the ribbons at the top of the image before mounting them onto blue card stock. I wrapped the parcel with a double layer of white ribbon and added a tag urging you not to open it till Christmas.

As usual I have created a couple more cards to share with you using the same stamp set,

 or a similar 'wrapped around' technique.

I am itching to see what the rest of the DT have come up with this week, so why not join in with the fun and see what you can create.

Summer for CraftyCardmakers

Afternoon All
It's time for a new challenge over at CCM where Bec is our host looking for anything related to Summer.

I have chosen to make a card with a bright summery background created from a patchwork of hexagons.

I covered a sheet of double sided sticker paper with white punched hexagons which I then stamped and white embossed with butterflies.

I coloured the entire panel with Brushos and added some random background stamping.
Because I wanted the background to remain the focus of the card I used a black die cut floral panel over the top of it and then layered the whole thing onto red card stock.

This card was made with a leftover strip, some co-ordinating background paper and die cut flowers.
I hope that you will join us HERE for our Summer inspired challenge.
Lets hope that the weather continues to reflect our chosen challenge, although maybe if I'm honest perhaps not quite so hot. I do like it bright, don't get me wrong, but I do struggle in this heat.

Afternoon Everyone,
I can't believe where this year is disappearing to.
It is already the end of another school year which means that it is time for all those Thank You cards.

I recently taught a class that was based around using hexagons.

Now there are some classes where I really get carried away with all of the ideas that I have found,

and this was one of them, so I used one of the ideas to make this selection of cards for Saskia to give her Teachers and Classroom Assistants or TA as I think they are now referred.

The main panel on the card has been die cut from card which was then sanded or gilded with Gilding Wax and then mounted on to more of the same colour card.
'Thanks' and all of the florals are also die cuts.

This next set of cards made for Ciaran to give out were made from some stamped and embossed pieces from my bits box.

The stamp is an old Hero Arts one I think, stamped and embossed and then sponged with dye based inks.

It was also an opportunity to use up a few more bits and pieces from said bits box, it's just a shame that I never seem to make a dent in it, no matter how hard I try lol.
I had better get back to the craft room as my To Do List never seems to get any shorter either and I have DT samples to make as well as a very important birthday card for a special little someone.
