Woodware Colour challenge - Grey and Chartreuse

Evening Everyone,
Quite an early post from me for a change.
I managed to get my Woodware challenge card finished so I thought that I would share it straight away.
The challenge they have for you this week is to use Grey and Chartreuse in your work, definitely not a colour combo that I would usually go for but one that I have thoroughly enjoyed playing with.
I started the card late last night, and when I checked out the challenges this morning it fitted one of them perfectly. Well with a little bit of tweaking that is.

I have used the lovely sketch over at the Sketch Saturday blog.
The floral stamps are from a Stampendous clear set SSC1080 Scripty Stems and I used a couple of Versamagic dew drop ink pads.
The green background  paper is from a GCD 8x8 doublesided paper pack called Whoop de Doo also available from a Woodware stockist.
The grey card stock is Bazzil and of course I had to use my Weathered Wood and Black Soot distress inks around the edges and to stamp onto the grey panels.
The greeting is once again from one of Jane Gill's new stamp sets that will be available very soon.
I added a few tiny dots and some stitching with a fine black pen.
And of course no card would be complete without a bit off Card Candi.
I hope that you are having a great weekend and have managed to fit in some crafting as well.

Birthday blooms for Mandy

Evening Everyone.
I hope that you have all had a wonderfully relaxing weekend, or have you been catching up with all of those things that you don't manage during the week like the rest of us lol.
I have been enjoying a quiet house as the family are all on holiday.
If I'm honest I do prefer some noise going on around me, but it is nice to be able to lay things out on the dining table and not have to put them away, so my crafting area has expanded while I have the chance.
My card tonight was made for Lorraine to give to her friend Mandy. I'm sorry that the picture is not very good, it really doen't show it at its best even if I do say so myself.
Easel cards are always so hard to photograph aren't they!
The main panel has been created using one of the Hobby Art sentiments from the Birthday Collection.
This is one of my favourite sentiment stamps at the moment.
The flowers have been added using the Embossed Resist technique, Versamagic inks and a lovely floral stamp set from Stampendous called Scripty Stems.
The butterfly has been cut using a Cheery Lynn die. Of course I added a little colour and some glitter.
Lorraine wanted her friends name added to the front of the card, and a little bit of bling so I added some ribbon and a diamante slider.
I would like to enter it in to the following challenges
Crafts and Me - Challenge 90 Birthdays
Allsorts Challenge  - In Bloom
The ABC Challenge - S for Surprise (Show us your best)
Penny Black and More  - Summer Blooms
Crafty Calender challenge - Flowers in Bloom
Off to bed now, and back to work tomorrow :O(

I've joined the Crafty Cardmakers DT

Afternoon Everyone
Well, call me mad if you will, but I have just joined the DT over at Crafty Cardmakers. It is only madness when I consider all of the extra work involved, not when I think about being being part of a wonderful group of crafty individuals.
For those of you who have never popped over to my blog before perhaps I should tell you a little bit about myself.
I am a self confessed stampaholic with a passion for all things card related.
I have been involved in card making since I met Maggie Wright at a craft show at Olympia in 1995. I was there to see the Cross stitch, I think we have all dabbled with that at one time or another, but I got hooked on Rubber Stamping, and the rest as they say is history.
I have been lucky enough to write two books and numerous magazine articles. I have demoed at a lot of the shows around the country and currently teach in Purley and occasionally in Peterboro at Sir Stampalot.
I am a DT member of the Clarity, Hobby Art and Imagination stamp companies and make cards for their TV shows as well as making samples for SirStampalot.
I don't do holidays, and so any holiday time that I do manage is spent sitting at a table in Peterboro in Janice and Andy's wonderful shop SirStampalot. It is a true Aladdin's cave and they have a fantastic web site so do check it out.
I live in Surrey with my two surviving children, 4 Grandchildren and my eldest daughters partner. Our little home really is a bit like a tardis, larger on the inside than it looks from the outside, although it needs to be with all the people living in it.
Believe it or not crafting is only my hobby as I work full time at the local BP Simply Foods petrol station which is fortunately only two minutes away from my house.
I think that that is quite enough about me, so before you switch off completely, or switch over to another blog here is the card that I am sharing with you as my first DT post at Crafty Cardmakers.
It was actually made for Barbara for her show on German TV last week, hence the greeting lol. I did do a Google translate just to make sure I wasn't swearing at anyone :)
I found the instructions for the background in an old magazine that I was flicking through, and it reminded me of the soot technique that I tried out many years ago.
First I covered a piece of glossy card stock with Tim Holtz Distress Stains Peeled Paint and Broken China. Once this is dry hold the card face down above a candle flame to apply a layer of soot. Take care not to touch it after it is done so as not to smudge the soot.
Next take a medium sized shadow stamp and stamp randomly over the sooted panel. This will remove the soot. The stamp will need cleaning with a baby wipe after every 2 or 3 images. Once you have done this over the entire panel stamp the Trees and Flock of Birds using a black Versafine ink pad. Emboss some of the images and then go back in and flat stamp some more trees.
Trim the panel to size and tap a versamark pad around the edge. Add gold embossing powder and heat.
The finished panel has been mounted onto green card stock as shown. Add a greeting and some Black self adhesive Mosaics from Woodware.
I hope you like the card, don't forget to join in the challenge over at Crafty Cardmakers.
Happy Crafting
Love and hugs

Yipee Holiday at Sir Stampalot

Well Guys this holiday lark is seriously not good for the bank balance.
On Saturday I am joining several other 'Crafty Ladies' for the 2nd Ultimate Rubber Stamping Day at Sir Stampalot in Peterboro.
As always I take a couple of extra days, as holiday from the real job, to go up early and stay with Janice and Andy, and try and help out. This usually involves making samples at some point - maybe I should call this the real job!!
The one disadvantage to being here is that you are amongst all these wonderful new toys, and as a committed Stampaholic I just HAVE TO HAVE THEM - I guess the new glasses will just have to wait for another month!!
We managed to catch up on the orders ( the royal we that is!!) and then Nick and I (he works for J and A) got on with stock counting Tildas.
Why ever did I suggest that was a good idea. Do you know how many designs of Tilda there are in this place,968 and each one has to be counted and recorded. J&A's system is wonderfully automated but there is, I'm afraid, no substitute for good old fashioned legwork when it comes to counting the blessed things!!
Technology is brilliant when it works but not so good when you've counted 48 boxes of stamps and the computer tells you that there is nothing there so you have to count them again. Aaarg!!!!
Of course the other disadvantage to counting them is that you get to see all the designs, and then of course you just have to have them. Thank goodness I only shop when I see things, and not on line, cause at this rate I'm going to need a seriously rich toyboy.
Have finally finished counting but haven't had much time to play yet so I thought I would share a card with you that I made last time I was up here.

The card uses
Magnolia Fall Edwin 1946E
Magnolia Christmas Cracker 2109H
Hero Arts Holiday Sayings CL343
Cuttlebug folder - Textile 37-1153
One advantage to blogging while I'm in the shop is that I can give you the codes for everything.
Will try and get some samples done tomorrow to share with you.
I will be playing with the Walnut Hollow Creative Metal and alcohol inks on Saturday so I look forward to seeing you. Its always a fabulous day with lots of fantastic demos to see - I always learn some new tip or technique from someone.
Must drag the guys of the computer in a minute so we can get home. I do need some sleep you know.
Sleep tight.
Love Kimx
