Countdown to Christmas - Day 16

Evening,

Another day nearer Christmas, and a couple of birthdays to celebrate as well. My Grandson is 20 today and a good friend is ???? (she would kill me if I revealed it lol)

The couple of cards that I am sharing tonight are Christmas cards,
but could just as easily be made to celebrate a birthday.
Especially made in blue for a change to the usual Christmas red.
The background to this one was created using a stencil, pastes and distress inks.
The same stamps, only this time I used the co-ordinating dies to cut the image out instead of fussy cutting it.
I also went with a more traditional colour palette.
The background is a fabulous 3D Embossing folder and a piece of background card from my stash.

It is the last get together of the year for the Girls tomorrow so there will be plenty of coffee, chat and crafty playtime. And probably a few mince pies as well.

Thanks for stopping by.

A Memory Book

Evening Everyone,
I have just spent the most enjoyable day prepping for my class tomorrow.
We are making books using the wonderful Sizzix Wrapped Notebook Die designed by Eileen Hull.
I saw it on Hochanda some time last year and just had to have it,
but haven't had the chance to play till now.
Oh boy, have I had fun. I can see lots of people getting these as present.
I also have the Passport Journal die which cuts pages that perfectly fit the Wrapped Journal.
I die cut some more of the flower and foliage images that I used on the front only this time out of funky foam,
and used them to stamp on the pages using Distress Oxide inks.
It just gives the pages a little extra interest.
This is very Mixed Media for me.
I added some texture paste to the front through a stencil cut from card using a Tim Holtz die and then added a little Gilding Wax.
I used elastic to fit the pages into the journal, and also as a means of closure.
I'm not sure that it will stand up to being carried around in a handbag, but it will definitely make a good place to keep lists so I think that I will make one as a notebook tomorrow.
I hope that 'The Girls' will enjoy themselves as much as I have.
Have a great evening.

Woodware blog - Flourishes

Morning All,
This week Dorothy has challenged the Girls at Woodware to create something with a flourish.
I wasn't sure what to do for this challenge so I thought a good place to start was to type flourish in to the Woodware website to see what it came up with.
Among the goodies with flourish in the title was this fabulous Dreamweaver Christmas stencil Holly Flourish, so as I have it in my stash it seemed like a very good place to start.
First I applied Dreamweaver Embossing paste through the stencil onto a piece of white card stock.
When it was dry I replaced the stencil and added colour using dye based inks with a finger dauber.
I trimmed the panel and distressed the edges with a very old pinecone versacolour cube, before layering it onto a piece of background paper from my Woodware stash.
For the finishing touches I added glossy accents and stardust glitter glue to the berries and tips of the flourishes, and a sentiment from one of Jane's new stamp sets Trio of Trees along with some tiny gold metals.
As usual I got carried away finishing off all the bits and pieces that I was playing with so there are several other cards that I will have to post for you.
I hope that you have enjoyed our Flourishes for this week, and lets hope that the Woodware blog is back up and running again next week.
Have a good weekend.
