Good News and Bad News

Evening All,

Well there is good news and bad news on the wrist front. The good news is that it's not broken just bruised internally. The bad news is that I have the starts of arthritis in the joints in my hand. Oh the joys of getting older lol.

On the bright side, although I am still not able to lift anything very much at the moment, the virtual exercises that I have been sent recommend practicing hand movements such as 'Doing Crafts'. I am officially allowed to make my cards!!!!!
This is actually one made last year, but as it uses Distress Oxides which we will be playing with in class next time I figured that it would be a good one to share.
The panel on the card was created using Distress Oxide inks and watercolour cardstock which was then run through an embossing machine inside an embossing folder.
I also ran a sanding block over the embossing to highlight the images.
The large Birthday die is one of my all time favourites from Sheena. I stacked it and added a stamped sentiment.
Thanks for stopping by.
Hugs Kimx

I'm having an Orange Moment

Evening Everyone
First I really must apologise for not making it round to peoples blogs again today to be inspired by all your wonderful creations.
I am still feeling awful, but I had to get the Valentine card made for my friend Lorraine as she is picking it up from me tomorrow.
I am really pleased with how it turned out, but it has literally taken me all day, so it is a quick post and then bed.
I did managed to finish off a couple of cards yesterday that were made with the demo bits from my class on Saturday afternoon. I am trying very hard to use up bits rather than add them to yet another box lol.
While I was showing them the Watercolour Pearlex  technique I explained that I keep a piece of scrap card by me to scribble some of the excess pant onto. There always seems such a lot of colour left on the paintbrush and it seems such a waste to just wash it of.
My scrap sheet this time yielded a rather nice piece of stripy background onto which I have stamped and embossed the beautiful Hobby Art Poppies. I then coloured in the image using the Pearlex Stargazer palette.
It has some lovely vibrant colours including orange.
I mounted the finished panel over some background paper that has been embossed using a Cuttlebug swirly folder and then sanded which helps to show up the swirls..
A Martha Stewart punch and some tiny gems complete things.
This card was also made using the Watercolour technique.
In fact I should probably have put this one first since it was in colouring this that I made the stripy scrap background lol.
Again I have mounted it onto a panel of card that has been embossed.
Adding Metallic Rub-ons to the black card helps to make the embossing 'pop'.
I think that this shot shows just what a beautiful shimmer you get with Pearlex. It is still a favourite product of mine.
Time to renew my hot water bottle I think and then snuggle down under the covers.
I wish I could stay there tomorrow but it is back to work I'm afraid,
Nite, nite
