Happy Birthday V

EveningAll,

Well, there are some lovely people out there.

Today was V's birthday, and she brought her colleague in to work so that she could deliver carefully packed homemade food for us to have for our lunch. How lovely of her to do it on HER birthday, and her day off!!!!

And the second nice thing was when a customer, having purchased a large bar of chocolate, handed it back to me, as a thank you for trying to help with the petrol queues on Tuesday..................'you deserve it' she said when I politely tried to decline her lovely gesture.

Thankfully the shop has been a little busier today despite the lack of fuel, although the phone hasn't stopped ringing. I wonder what tomorrow will bring.......hopefully a fuel delivery lol.

Have a wonderful day

Evening,

Well that has got to have been the slowest shift in history! We have no fuel, so we therefore had far fewer customers. I'm not sure that I prefer the madness of yesterday, but somewhere in between would be rather nice.

Another quick post tonight, with another card made using one of Jane's bubble stamps.
I stamped and embossed the images onto a piece of mop up background from my stash
I also added a diecut frame and a sentiment.
Thanks for stopping by.

Chalked Vellum

Evening All,

And so the madness continues! We had a delivery of fuel yesterday afternoon, just before I left work. They were queueing both sides of the road from the moment the tanker pulled onto the forecourt, and continued throughout the night until we ran out at about 11am. That would normally last nearly a week...........not less than a day!!!!!

I spent the first three hours of my shift directing traffic and trying to reduce the size of the queues, since then, the phone has been ringing off the hook with people asking whether or not we have fuel, and when our next delivery will be. They have also been driving on and off the forecourt, even though there is a huge sign at the entrance telling them that we have none. I have no idea when our next delivery is, so I expect I will spend the day tomorrow answering the same questions.

Here are a couple more chalked cards, this time using vellum.
I wrapped the stamped, embossed and coloured panel around a piece of cardstock,
before layering it over a dry embossed panel, coloured with decorating chalks.
I stamped the vellum and then added chalks to the images,
before adding a large stamped and embossed sentiment.
I folded the vellum over the top and bottom of the card and attached it with DSST on the inside which is easy to hide with an insert.
I have given any sort of travel a miss this week and will continue with that strategy until this nonsense with the fuel resolves itself. This means that I haven't made it to the gym, but the thought of sitting on a bus for a couple of hours for a journey that normally takes about 20 minutes is not one I care to experience...........Yes the queues really are that bad!!
I haven't been totally inactive though. My Fitbit told me that I had completed 10,000 steps by about 9.30 this morning. Not what I expect on a normal day, I'm lucky if I reach that figure until well into the afternoon, and it usually involves a 30 minute session on the treadmill.
Thanks for stopping by.

Hero Arts and Chalks

Forgot to press publish !!

Hi All,

Can't believe how quickly the weekend disappears, and what a mad one it has been. The queues from the garage went on all through the night and into this morning which is absolute madness. The roads are clear again at the moment..........because we don't have any fuel for them to queue for, but who knows what tomorrow will bring!!!

I am trying to work my way through all the chalked cards that I made for a class a few weeks ago, I just hadn't realized quite how many of them there were lol.

I love these old Hero Arts stamp. They came as a set of negatives (bottom right and left corners), but were also available as individual positive images.
I was lucky enough to own both, and this one is definitely my favourite of the four in the boxed set. I used an embossing folder in the background to this card, with a panel of vellum over it.
This card also uses a couple of old Hero Arts stamps. I used a very detailed die cut on the back of the card and then covered the whole thing with chalks to match the central panel.
Thanks for stopping by.

Triple Layered Floral Panel

 Evening All,

We had a fabulous day of classes today, marred only by the total madness that we encountered trying to drive home. The traffic was just ridiculous. I live less than 3 minutes from my place of work.......a BP petrol station,.

Our journey to class this morning involved turning round and taking a different route, and this afternoons journey home was no better due to a delivery of fuel at said BP causing huge queues of traffic in both directions. People are just idiots and I thought that there was going to be a punch up at one stage. I am soooooo glad that I am haven't been at work today having to deal with all of this madness.

I haven't been able to get any more samples from the class finished this evening, so I will have to share another couple of cards from the class on Layering dies.

I cut this fabulous layered die from black, red and white cardstock
and layered it onto a piece of silver holographic cardstock.
It looks stunning, but is dreadfully difficult to photograph.
I also used it for this card, only this time I only used white cardstock for the layers.
I added a die cut sentiment
and some tiny gems to finish.
Thanks for stopping by, I hope that you are safely at home now and not out chasing fuel supplies :O)

Sorry, computer is not playing ball tonight, and I am shattered after another 4am start, so I am going to call it a night and try to post again tomorrow.

Night night.

Christmas Layering Die

 Evening All,

Most of the Girls that helped with Paint Purley Purple had their photograph taken this afternoon for an article in the local paper. Thankfully I had a previous engagement with a treadmill and other bits of gym equipment...........................I do hate to have my photograph taken!!

We did a class a couple of weeks ago using Layering Dies.
This has to be one of my favourites from my collection.
It really is very easy to use and looks stunning even in three layers of white cardstock.
I used three different silver cardstocks for this one and some more glitter card for the background.
The same layers of silver and holographic card stock, just a different order can change the look of the card. Here I used plain black cardstock for a contrasting background.
Thanks for stopping by.

Chalked Best Wishes

 Evening All,

Another chilly start to what turned into a glorious day, English weather is so unpredictable.

I do love chalks with leaves and vellum.
I made this card quite a while ago using a fabulously realistic leaf stamp from Stampendous.
I added the torn vellum panel along with some metallic threads.

Autumnal Hugs and Kisses

Evening All,

Wow, definitely more like Autumn today. I even had to put my cardigan on at work this morning, and that's something that I haven't had to do in several months.

So if it feels like Autumn, let's have some autumnal cards using my favourite stamp from Jane's latest Bubble stamp collection.

I filled a cream panel with stamped and embossed images which I coloured with Distress inks and then chopped up to create three cards.

I used various pieces of embossed card to embellish the cards along with sentiments and glossy accents.
It definitely warmed up this afternoon, so I wonder what we will get tomorrow.
Thanks for stopping by.

A Torn Twofer

 Evening All,

Just a really quick post tonight, since I have to be at work at stupid o'clock tomorrow morning.

These are a couple of cards that I made a while ago at SirStampalot.
The torn panel on both of them was made using the mop up technique,
and some white embossed holly branches.
One panel,
and two cards, a torn twofer.
I also used the same embossing folder on card one and the vellum on the second card.
Off to bed now. Thanks for stopping by.

Birthday Florals

Evening All,

Another successful day of crafty play. Now I just need to get everything parceled up and popped in the post.

Here are another couple of cards made recently after the class on Chalks.
I had so many bits and pieces to finish off that these were originally consigned to the bin, but I decided to give them a reprieve, and am glad that I did.

They were only small pieces of chalked background made years ago, but it did seem a shame to throw them out.

I keep a box of black die cut floral elements which seemed perfect for these two projects.
Thanks for stopping by.

Bubble Bloom Betty with Vellum

Hi All,

No babysitting this weekend because I've been working on some stuff for Janice and Andy at SirStampalot.

Since I can't share what I'm doing with you yet, here are a couple more cards using Jane's new Bubble Stamps.
This time I tried it out on vellum/parchment.
I stamped and embossed the image, and then painted the bubbles with watercolour pencils and a little water.
I used a die to help me trace a white border around the image using a fine ball tool to carefully stretch the vellum.
I used white embossing powder on the vellum for this card, but coloured the image in the same way.
Vellum is hard to stick down without it showing, so I have used tiny gold brads on this card.
Another days play to look forward to tomorrow, so it's off to bed for me now.
Thanks for stopping by.

Paint Purley Purple

Evening All,

Another successful afternoon of tree, and bench wrapping with a couple of Crafty friends.

Sylvie got to grips with one of the larger trees,
while I finished off one of the benches.
We celebrated a sterling afternoons work with a Costa coffee before heading home for a well earned rest.
Here they are heading back to the car,
while I took a couple of photos.
Of course it wouldn't have been possible at all without all the work that Davina has put into coordinating everything. Her house has been knee deep in purple knitting for weeks.
Let's hope that it has the desired effect of raising awareness for the Cancer Center and brings in some much needed funds. Amazingly it is not government funded and relies solely on donations, which as you can imagine have been very thin on the ground over the last couple of years with the ravages of Covid.
We are all now officially shattered, but I think that it looks fabulous, and I am very pleased to have helped just a little.
Have a great weekend.
