Recycle Something for CraftyCardmakers

Evening Everyone,
We have a brand new challenge over at CraftyCardmakers where our host Judy is asking you to Recycle Something.
I chose to use a page from an old book for my 'Recycled Element'.
I stamped and embossed the Holly and Mistletoe branch onto the book page using versamark ink and clear embossing powder.
Then I sponged the panel with plenty of Distress Inks and wiped over the embossing with a cloth. The embossed image acts as a resist to the ink, so as the book print shows through. I call it 'Resist with a Twist'.
This card was created in the same manner.
The die cut sentiment has been added to the card and then covered in glossy accents to make it stand out.
I love this technique, but don't forget to check your book page for naughty words.
I remember seeing someone on the TV, not so very long ago, telling people to make sure that they did this and then obviously didn't notice that the first line on their chosen page used the F word. I had to laugh I'm ashamed to say.
I hope that you be able to join us over at CraftyCardmakers, and please don't forget to check out what the rest of my Teamies have come up with.
Hugs

Creative Expressions 30 Day Challenge - Day 27 Recycled

Evening Everyone,
A late one for me today, some how the day seems to have got away with me.
Todays the challenge over at Creative Expressions 30 Day challenge, is to recycle. Now we are very good with recycling as a whole in this house, but I am not so good in my card making.
The one exception to that is the acetate packaging that dies come in. I do reuse that, and believe me I have a rather large pile of it.
The central panel on this card is made using a piece of acetate from said packaging along with alcohol inks, a stencil and Alcohol Lift Ink.
I added plenty of die cuts and some extra stamping on the base card.
This card also uses a piece of packaging acetate, alcohol inks, and the wonderful Alcohol Lift Inkpad.
This was probably one of my favourite new techniques that I picked up last year......or was it the year before that. Everything seems to be blurring in to one lol. We really will have to play with it again in a class...…..as soon as we can have one that is.
Off to bed now.
Stay Safe.

A little bit of Upcycling

Evening Everyone
Are you having a good weekend, plenty of crafting I hope.
Those of you that know me will know that I very rarely add a greeting to the inside of a card until I am ready to send it so that it can be stamped to personalise it for the recipient.
Well on this occasion the same can be said for adding a sentiment to the front of the card.
I have unfortunately needed several 'Thinking of You' cards over the last couple of last weeks, but with little or no time to make something from scratch that I would feel completely happy with.
So instead I decided to 'Upcycle', is that the correct terminology for recycling these days :O)
I looked through my not inconsiderably large stash of cards and found several which I felt would be quite suitable with the right sentiment attached to the front.
This first card is made using one of the lovely Decoupage stamp from Imagination.
This card is another that I have already blogged and has been sent to a friend who used to live next door when I was a child.
In those days everyone was referred to as Auntie or Uncle, even friends and neighbours, it was seen as a term of endearment.
In fact to this day I still find it hard to call my real Aunt and Uncle by only their Christian names as it somehow feels disrespectful. How silly does that sound when you are in your 50's lol.
