Spotlights with Matching Backgrounds

Well I haven't managed much visiting, but I guess three posts in a reasonably short space of time is a pretty good achievement after my prolonged spell of inactivity.

We had another fun class last Saturday, only this time I restricted their choice of stamps to just a few floral ones.

We made a Spotlight card, which can be a great way of covering a bit of dodgy stamping.
Restamp the affected area on a scrap of card and then use a die or punch to create a panel to stick over the 'mistake'

In this instance I used my Square Stitched dies to cut out sections of the image and then mounted them on to black card stock.
Because I have used shapes with straight edges it is easy to trim the black card to create a narrow border.

These panels then fit exactly over the stamped image giving the illusion of a spotlight, but hiding the die cut hole underneath.

I created the background to the card from scraps. I end up with loads of these when trimming my mats and layers so it is great to be able to use them up.

I'm a bit of a hoarder, and these strips always look too good to throw away, so it's nice to find a use for them.

I chose my strips first, and then coloured the image to match.

I always take something away from a class that I have learnt from 'The Girls', even if it is just a colour combo,

or two as with the last four cards.

And of course it looks just as good without the spotlights.

Just to let you know that I'm Thinking of You

Hi All,
I don't know about you, but I always think that a card is a lovely way to cheer someone up and let them know that you are thinking of them.
We have had a couple of regular customers who have been in need of a hug recently, so I made them each a card in the hopes of lifting their spirits.

I taught a class a while ago using acrylic blocks to create a watercolour background, so of course I finished off several cards.

I even managed to use up a few more pieces from my bits box including this lovely punched square, created using a Martha Stewart 'Punch around the Page'.

I haven't used one of these punches for ages. I really must, they are so pretty.

This is another of the cards that I finished using a Block Stamped Background.

The background on this card uses the same inked block, but a second generation stamping. I also added a sentiment to this one.

No block stamping here, but hopefully something to make the recipient smile and know that they are thought of.

A Peel-off Birthday

Evening Everyone,
Another weekend well and truly over. At least I have managed to get some crafting done which is always a good pick me up.

I have several birthday cards ready to go in the post this week, most of them late I have to admit, but then getting to a pillar box has been a little awkward of late so I hope that people will forgive me :O)

This card was made using some inked background paper and a few peel-offs. I have this fabulous Magenta design as a rubber stamp as well, but sometimes a good old peel off is just perfect. No clean up or electricity required for one thing lol.
The background to the card is more of my leftover paper strips. I wish I could say the pile is going down but I don't think it is.
Back to work tomorrow although I'm not sure quite what the day will hold. Perhaps I should take a few images and some colouring pencils with me, just in case.

A Day filled with Endless Possibilities and Adventures.

Evening Everyone,
Another lovely day here, and I even managed to get a card made which is a big plus.

Our local Community Policeman is moving to another district so I have made this to send to him.
He has been a frequent visitor to the Garage and so we will miss him, although he says that he will still pop in and say Hello when he fills up with petrol.

I thought that the sentiment was highly appropriate. It comes from a new Woodware set JGCL569 Inspirational Verses. I have cut it out using a Circular Nestie.
The flowers are from another Woodware set designed by Jane Gill JGCL572 Daisy Layers which I have stamped onto background papers from my stash.
Talking of Woodware, several of the Girls (Judith, Francoise, Jane and Dorothy) are taking part in the Moonwalk in London on 11th May so why not stop by their fund raising page HERE and sponsor them.
The Moonwalk helps to raise money for Breast Cancer services, a very worthy cause which I think we have all been touched by be it personally or through a friend or relative.

A Birthday Bear

Evening Everyone
I hope that you have had a lovely relaxing Sunday.
At least the weather has been better today, no rain. Well not here at least.
My brother obviously has a liking for this time of year as all 3 of his children were born in August. (Or perhaps it's more a liking for November lol)

I made this card for my nephew Callum.
He's not so very little any more, being a strapping 22 year old, but hopefully you are never too old for this little cutie from Lili of the Valley.

I coloured him with my Distress inks to match the Scrap Background that I had in my box.
I found this technique over at the  Crafty Bloggers Network. It is a fantastic way to use up all of those scraps of background paper. I have several pieces in my 'Bits Box', ready to go lol.
Oh boy, look at the time. I don't know about the rest of you but I have to be at work at 6am as normal tomorrow so I had better get to bed.
