Baby Bunnies

Evening,
Did you manage to catch Jenny on the box today?
There was a lovely stamp set featuring a bunny, which I thought would work really well as a new baby card.
What do you think?
I did a bit of paper piecing and added some sentiments to the background.
So that is another monday finished, and another day closer to my holiday. Can't wait.

Heads up, Hobby Art are on TV tomorrow.

Evening Everyone
I have had another wonderful Emma filled weekend, with sadly very little crafting, but who cares when you get a lovely cuddle from your gorgeous Granddaughter.
I did managed to get this made last week (pre Emma sitting) and so I thought that I would share it to remind you that Hobby Art Jenny will be on Create and Craft tomorrow at 2pm and 7pm.
The panel on this was actually made during my wonderful crafty weekend last November with some of the Hobby Art team.
The background was created by wiping a piece of watercolour card through leftover ink on a craft mat.
I stamped, embossed and coloured the images with the same dye based inks and also a little Imagination Starlight paint.
The background paper is from my stash and I added some faux stitching.
At least I know I am in for some intensive crafting very soon. I start countdown to my holiday at SirStampalot tomorrow. Happy days, although I will miss my cuddles.

Blink and you missed the snow

Evening Everyone,
I don't know about you, but we had one of those blink and you missed it moments this morning with a flurry of rather large snowflakes.
Fortunately it only lasted a few moments, not even long enough to wet the ground which is just as well. It is quite cold enough without any of the white stuff.
So here is a quick Christmas card that I finished a while ago.
I'm afraid the the photo doesn't show it at its best.
Simple white embossing,
and a colour wash of blue dye based ink.
The main image and sentiment are from Magnolia and formed part of my challenge pile when I was last on holiday at SirStampalot.
I am hoping that Janice and Andy have got my new set of challenges ready as I am due to visit in just over a week. Can't wait.

Happy Birthday Lara

Evening Everyone,
I don't know about you, but I always find that getting together with a few 'Crafty' friends is a fabulous way of getting the creative juices flowing again.
I had a lovely time on Saturday doing just that at Davina's, where we were playing with inks, stencils and Sparkle Medium.
Lots more things to finish off, but I did come home inspired to tackle the growing pile of bits and pieces on my craft desk.
In between trying to catch up with some DT projects I even managed to finish a couple of birthday cards including this one for the daughter of a friend.
I used a LOTV topper, sentiment, and some background papers from my stash.
I don't know what I will do if ever I run out of toppers!!
I might actually have to use all of those pens that I have and learn how to colour in with them lol.
Time for an early night I think.

For a Special Woman at CCM and Woodware

Morning Everyone,
We have a new challenge starting today over at CCM where we would love to see your cards for a Special Woman. So Mother's Day cards/creations, or cards/creations for any woman who is special, Daughter, Wife, Friend etc. will be fine. You can enter anything you fancy, it doesn't have to just be cards, as long as it meets the challenge, and doesn't exceed the 15 total challenges entered rule!
We are sponsored this time by Woodware.
It is my turn to post for them today as well, so here is a card that I made for their latest catalogue.
I stamped and white embossed the lovely JGS434 Flowers in a Row onto a piece of white card stock and then sponged over the image with blue and brown Graphic 45 inks.
I wiped over the panel with a piece of kitchen roll so that the white embossing 'popped' through before tearing across the top of the panel to reveal the white core of the card.
I also added a little colour to some of the leaves and flowers before adding the greeting,
some background paper and a few gems.
I created a couple of extra cards using the same stamp, papers and technique.
I hope that you will join us for this challenge, and don't forget to stop by and see what the rest of the CCM DT have come up with to inspire you.
The Woodware DT are also joining us this week so why not stop in  on them as well.
Have a wonderful week.

With a little help from a friend

Evening All
I have been having a little bit of help finishing a card today due to another bit of last minute Emma sitting.
She is absolutely gorgeous, but not very conducive to craft work as she is very much at the 'I need every bit of your attention' stage, and there is not much floor space in my craft room for her to be able to play at the side of me.
Never mind I will enjoy her company while I can. No doubt all too soon I will become boring old Mamma lol.
Due to my constraints, this card was made up of bits and pieces from my bits box.
It is amazing what treasure you can find when you start rummaging through a box of crafty stash.
Thanks for stopping by.

Little Miss Giggles

Evening Everyone,
I have been on babysitting detail today, so nothing crafty to share, but who would mind spending the afternoon and evening with this little bundle of cuteness?
She has played to the gallery when we visited my Mum and kept us all busy and entertained.
She may only be 6 months old but she likes to stand up all the time, so I have spent a lot of the time grovelling around at floor level.
There is no elegant way to get up from this position I have found, but who cares. It was nice and warm since Mum has under floor heating so I'm sure that is why Emma enjoys it so much.
Bye for now.

Easter/Spring greetings at Woodware

Morning All
I would like to think that today has started in a nice spring like manner, but as this is a scheduled post I expect that it is far more likely that we have rain lol.
It is my turn over at Woodware today, where Dorothy has asked for Easter/Spring greetings.
Now I have to admit that I don't do Easter cards, so I am hoping that a card with a nice spring feel to it will be OK.
I love this old stamp designed by Jane Gill.
I have stamped and embossed it onto a piece of white watercolour card and then sponged the image with dye based inks.
Once I cleaned the stamp I spritzed it with water and then stamped onto the sponged background. The water removes the colour to give a lovely ghosted image.
I added some dotty ribbon which I coloured with the same dye based inks to the bottom of the panel before mounting it onto coordinating card stock.
I also added some Card Candi and a dotty bow.
Don't forget to check out what the rest of the DT has come up with to inspire you this week.
Have a great day.......what ever the weather.

Happy Birthday Jenni

Evening Everyone,
Today is my eldest baby's birthday. Well they are always your babies no matter how old they are, just ask my Mum lol.
I can still remember being driven to Greenwich Hospital in the back of a car in the middle of a snow storm 37 years ago.
It was so bad that after she was born her Dad couldn't get home so the nurses pushed a couple of chairs together in a side room so that he could get some sleep. I can't imagine that happening today can you, it would be against some 'elf and safety' rule?
I made this card for her using papers from my stash and my favourite patchwork background.
I love this technique and it is a great way to use up loads of different paper scraps, or as in this case some co-ordinating sheets from a paper pad.
I have used a double sided sticky sheet to stick them to and then die cut them using one of my large Go Create dies.
The sentiment is by Lili of the Valley,
and then I have used a variety of Magnolia
and Sue Wilson dies to create the flowers and foliage.
I have also added some pale gold swirls heat embossed on to acetate and then cut out.
I haven't had the chance to give the card to Jenni yet as she has been whisked off to a surprise dinner by the rest of the family so I will have to do that on her return.
Have a good evening, and lets hope that we don't get a repeat of the weather from all those years ago.

I couldn't Resist more 'Resist with a Twist'

Evening Everyone,
The weekend is at an end again, but at least I seem to have got ahead with a couple of blog posts, I just haven't found any time to visit or comment yet. I don't know about you but I could really do with a few extra hours in a day to get caught up.
Oh well!! I told you that one of my favourite techniques is 'Resist with a Twist' so here is another card that I made.
We have been sharing Resist Techniques over at Woodware this last week and I couldn't decide which card to use so I thought that I would share this one with you today.
I used a large background stamp (you could also use a page from a book) on a piece of card first and then stamped and clear embossed over the top using the lovely grasses stamp.
I added inks, both sponged and spritzed, to colour the background,
and I also stamped over the top using the same stamp and black ink before mounting the panel and adding a greeting.
I have to say that the photos don't show the card at its best, but I do hope that you get the idea.
Thanks for stopping by.

Mop up Backgrounds

Evening Everyone,
I hope that you are having a great weekend. I have spent a wonderful afternoon playing with inks, and catching up with old friends.
We were playing with several of the new Woodware stamps including this beauty JGS445 Meadow Flowers.
The coloured panel was created with what I like to call a 'mop up'  technique.
It is a great way to use up ink leftover on the craft mat after sponging,
or in this case by just tapping dye based ink from a kaleidacolour ink pad or distress inks onto a clean craft mat.
Spritz the ink with some water and then wipe a piece of scrap card through it.
Allow the card to cry a little before tapping it in to the ink again to achieve a slightly more blotchy finish.
Once the panel has dried completely stamp and emboss your chosen image onto it and then add a little extra colour by painting with more dye based ink.
I also added a little bit of sparkle with some Wink of Stella or Stardust Gelly Roll glaze pens.
I also added some hand drawn lines and a sentiment.
I keep a pile of card strips on my desk to mop up any extra ink left over when creating a card and this gives me a stash of pre-made backgrounds ready and waiting for a quick card make.
Thanks for stopping by.

A little more to resist

Evening Everyone,
Here we are at Friday again, and I thought I would share a few more 'Resist' cards with you.
We have been sharing Resist Techniques this week at Woodware and I must admit that 'Resist with a Twist' is one of my favourites although I confess that none of these cards are actually made using Woodware stamps.
Stamp and clear emboss the image, in this case a lovely fern, over the top of a script stamp,
or even the page of an old book.
Sponge dye based ink over the image, dark colours often work best, and the writing 'pops' through.
This is another negative image stamp which works beautifully with this technique.
And this is a lovely circular image.
I hope you have a great weekend, and that it isn't too cold.

Happy Birthday Rithika

Hi All
Another incredibly early start today, but at least it means I got to spend a bit more time visiting Mum and looking after Emma.
In fact it has ended up being a very long day all together but a very good one none the less. I visited Mum with Emma, cooked dinner and then walked back to the pub (Emma slept all the way) before doing all the usual evening babysitting things like teatime and bath time. I even got a lovely cuddle and we both ended up falling asleep on the sofa, but don't tell Mummy lol.
This is the card that I made for boss's youngest daughter who is 12 today.
I had instructions to make it red and pink
and have her name
and age on it.
I also added a few die cut flowers,
swirls,
and leaves.
The background papers are from my stash,
and the dies are Sue Wilson, Magnolia, and 'sorry I don't remember' lol.
Better get to bed now, before I fall asleep and forget to press publish.
Night, night.
