Happy Halloween

Hi All,

I don't usually send Halloween cards, but last year the kids were having such a rough time with lockdown that I decided it was the perfect opportunity to cheer them all up, and send some pennies for sweeties.

I had such fun, that I decided that I would do it again this year.
I chose some fabulously colorful images from Polkadoodles.
On this card made for my youngest Grandchildren I added them over a large spiders web with some added sparkle paste.
The background panel uses texture paste and a spiders web stencil from Dutch Doobadoo along with Tim Holtz Distress Ink and Oxide sprays.
I decided on the background panel after being inspired in the Stencils and Pastes class by my friend Jenny.
I made several cards for little people amongst my friends and family
and enclosed a few pennies for them to buy sweeties.
I fussy cut the coloured images,
and added sentiments from a fabulous stamp set from Simon Says Stamp that I have had for a while.
One recipient has a birthday a few days before Halloween, so I turned his card into a birthday card for him.
Thanks for stopping by. Two posts in two day, I wonder how long that will last lol.

You Make Me Smile

Evening,

Sorry I've been MIA again recently, I don't know where the days are disappearing to, and there just don't seem to be enough hours in the day to get everything done.

This time last week a very special young lady turned 4.
My cute and funny Granddaughter Chloe.
This LOTV fairy reminded me of her, even if she is dressed in a little more pink than Chloe would like lol.
But one thing is for certain........she most definitely makes me smile.
And of course I sent her special hugs, especially as I couldn't make it to her birthday party.
Unfortunately Chloe doesn't like cake, so she asked Mummy for a jelly cake.........which had to be square with balls cascading down it.
I think a very clever Mummy rose to the challenge rather nicely. She even managed to make it light up!!!!
I might not have made it to the party, but I got to sample the 'cake', some of which made it's way home to me, and very nice it was too.
Thanks for stopping by. I'll try not to make it so long between visits this time.

Spooky Birthday Hugs

Hi All,

The last week has been one full of birthday cards to send.

It started with my friends hubby who happens to be the same day as mine, and continued with the lovely Jane Gill on the 13th, and my youngest daughter on the 14th.

My daughter loves Halloween, in fact this weekend we added quite a few items to her Halloween stash
In her words her 'house will look like Halloween threw up on it' lol.
With that in mind I chose a spooky Polkadoodles image for her birthday card, The background was from my stash with added stamped and embossed leafy images, and a huge die cut spiders web.
I also added some die cut sentiments.
I've got a busy week of sample making, so I had better get some sleep.
Thanks for stopping by.

A Stag through the Trees

Evening,

Sorry I have been MIA for a few days. Getting back to work after the refit has been totally mad, and very tiring. A few days off to craft was lovely, but then the madness began all over again. So it was lovely to play on Saturday amongst friends, and then go home to a house full of people, including the littlest Grandchildren, to celebrate my birthday, albeit a day early.

My actual birthday on Sunday started very early indeed, with an extra day at work and a 4am start!!!!

Still an early start means an early finish so not all bad, although I was so shattered that I spent most of the afternoon and evening trying not to fall asleep.........................I wasn't altogether successful lol.

It was another 4am start today, so I wasn't sure that I would even manage to get a post done.

Sunday was also the birthday of a good friends husband, although he is much younger than me lol.
Here is a rather atmospheric birthday card that could be send to any man.
I made it for the class recently on Ink Sprays and Clingfilm. This technique makes fabulous backgrounds, here used with a die cut stag amongst the trees.
I added a moon mask and some ink to mimic the moonlight through the trees.
The die cut birthday, and the stag frame have been cut from black card and then highlighted with gold gilding wax.
Better get some sleep now, although I get a lie in tomorrow, I don't have to be at work until 6am...........positively midday lol.
Thanks for stopping by.

Just a Quickie

Hi All,

Just a quickie tonight, I'm back to work tomorrow which will be a nasty shock to the system.

I can see plenty of cleaning and shelf stacking in my future..........tomorrow at least, so I had better get to bed.

Thanks for stopping by, see you tomorrow.

Bubble Bloom Gilly

Evening,

Here are another couple of cards made using Jane's fabulous Bubble stamps.

This is one that I made for the release,
I thought that I would go oval for a change.
It was made from a larger piece of work, so there was enough for a second card.
Here is a more traditional use of the stamp, although I did create a border around it.

Thanks for stopping by.

Make a Wish in Black and Red

Evening

Another successful crafty day prepping for Saturdays class.

I am trying very hard to keep up with my tags to go with the classes. This one was created for the Layering dies class. It is just a visual reminder to go with the instructions on the back of the tag.
I used a pin prick die in the background to this layered floral panel.
And this is a close up of the front of my tag. It seems that I was in a black and red mood lol.

Thanks for stopping by.

Inspired by a Friend

Evening All,

It has been nice to be away from the madness of the fuel delivery chaos for a few days, and that will carry on for a little while longer as the garage is closed for a refit.

We played with ink sprays and cling film during our last class, and this card was inspired by something that I saw on a friends blog Felix the Crafty Cat.
The background was created by spraying card with inks and then adding scrunched up cling film over it and leaving it to dry.
At least one of the sprays had mica in it which is what creates the fabulous icy finish to the background.
I added a die cut floral silhouette, punched border and sentiment.
This card was made with a similar background panel, just different floral die cut and sentiment.
The background to this final card was once again made with spray inks, only this time I used a piece of  bubble wrap to create the background texture.
Thank you for your fabulous inspiration Angela, I hope you feel that I have done you justice.

Not Quite Masterchef.

Evening

It's been a successful day for Becki and I. We have spent the day cooking meals for her freezer so that she can feel a little less stressed out in her new job. Not quite Masterchef, but good enough.

I am looking forward to some crafty playtime when I get home tomorrow, I've enjoyed the cooking, but it's not the same as cardmaking.

In the mean time I get to help take everyone to school tomorrow before I go home and I get another sleepover with my 'Besties'.

Today has been a washout

Evening.

I don't know what the weather has been like in your neck of the woods, but it has been a wash out here in more ways than one.

I promised the kids that we would go swimming this weekend. They have been asking since lockdown first started, so were so excited at the prospect of going today. Well the Gods were definitely against us. There was two hour wait at the swimming pool, and it was freezing cold outside in the queue, so we abandoned that in favour of finding Mum some petrol for work next week and doing some food shopping. Hopefully both could be achieved at Morrisons. The queueing was very well organized, but I decided that it would be easier if I took the kids inside and bought them lunch as we hadn't been able to do that at the pool.

Wrong again. The kitchen in the canteen had been flooded out so all that was on offer was a couple of rolls and some gingerbread cookies, and a very disgusting cup of coffee. All in all not a good day for the little ones. Mum did manage to get petrol, and we did the shopping so I suppose it wasn't a complete bust, although the children were definitely not impressed.

We decided that a hot chocolate and a snuggle while we watch a movie was the best way to spend the rest of the day, and then Emma helped Daddy cook the dinner which she always enjoys.

So given the grotty weather, here is a nice bright card to cheer you all up.
A butterfly wouldn't like it around here at the moment, winter has definitely set in.
Thanks for stopping by.
I do hope that it cheers up tomorrow so that at least we might be able to get out for a walk.

Magenta Ornamental Onion

Evening,

Boy am I glad that it is Friday, it has been a very long week. Still no signs of another fuel delivery, so the phone has been ringing non stop, but at least we haven't had queues a mile long outside.....................just further up the road either side of us where the local garages have each had a delivery!!!

Having decided to abandon all plans to go anywhere this week, I have spent several enjoyable afternoons finishing off bits and pieces from last Saturdays class on Sprays and Clingfilm.
This card was actually made using a piece that I found in my bits box from many years ago. Sprays and Clingfilm is certainly not a new technique, just one that I haven't done for a while.
The white stamped and embossed image has to be one of my all time favourite Magenta stamps, the Ornamental Onion Flower Tile.  I trimmed the panel and added a fine gold border with a metallic pen, and then layered it over some embossed cardstock.

I am now enjoying a lovely long weekend with the youngest Grandbabies. At least there were no fuel issues with the trains. I was able to sit in a quiet carriage and indulge in my travel treat of a Costa coffee and this time a chocolate twist.
I haven't been over to see the kids for a few weeks so it was so nice to be greeted by such excited little people. They were literally bouncing up and down. I was dragged in, coat and shoes removed and then pulled up the stairs to see their bedrooms and what they have been playing with. I have promised that we will go swimming tomorrow, a treat that they have missed out on since Covid hit, so they are all very excited.............Mum and me included.
Chloe has insisted that I have a sleepover in her bed, so I had better go up now before she wakes up and comes to find me.
Have a wonderful weekend. I know I will.
