Go Green at CCM

Evening Everyone,
It's time for another new challenge over at CCM.
I honestly don't know where the last fortnight has disappeared to. I feel like I only just finished the card for the last challenge, and here we are with a new one.
Oh well onwards and upwards.
This challenge is Go Green and our host Judy is looking to see lots of lovely lush green on your creations in honour of St. Patrick's Day which is on Friday 17th March. As usual anything you care to enter is fine, a card, scrap layout, mixed media piece, some home decor, as long as it's either mostly green or has a St. Patrick's Day theme.
Now I don't do St Patrick's Day, so I have gone with a card with plenty of green on it.
The central image is by Hobby Art which I stamped and embossed onto a piece of mop up background from my stash.
I coloured the image with distress inks, and added some faux stitching and a little bit of sparkle with a starlight pen.
I have a rather large stash of ribbon, what a surprise I can hear you say :O), so I managed to find some that matched the colouring, as well as a plain green button.
I hope that you will find the time to join us with your Green creations or St Patrick's Day cards.
Don't forget to stop by and see what the rest of the team have made to inspire you.

Just popped in to say Hi

Evening Everyone.
Seriously, it's Sunday again!!  In fact it will be nearly Monday by the time I get this finished.
I'm finding it quite hard getting back into blogging mode after so long away.
Emma has been like a little limpet, which while lovely and very flattering, does make crafting and computers rather difficult.
She likes to come and sit right next to me and watch 'Come Outside' with Auntie Mabel and Pippin.
They are DVDs that the older Grandchildren used to watch and love, but every time I try to get on and do anything she wants to 'help' me, so it is often just easier to sit back and watch the DVD with her.
They are very educational and informative, but I don't seem to have the same capacity for repetition that Emma does.
Her all time favourite one is on 'Biders' (that's spiders to the rest of you lol )
They are actually a pet hate of mine, so I am a very good Mam-ma to sit and watch them with her instead of running in the opposite direction.
I may be terrified of spiders in the flesh, but I do love my spiders web stencil by Tim Holtz (It is actually called Shatter)
In fact I have quite a few spidery stamps and dies now I come to think of it.
Any way I was going to blog a couple of cards tonight using said stencil, but having made the most of a day off from Emma with plenty of card making I have realized that I haven't taken any pictures.
As I really must get to bed, I will make a promise to rectify that tomorrow.
So for now I will just say Hi and thanks for stopping by.
See you tomorrow.

A Floral Heart for Valentines Day

Evening All,
Happy Valentines Day. Have you all had a wonderful day being spoiled rotten?
We have had some amazing £50 bunches of roses as work, beautiful I know, but I have to be honest and say that I would much rather have a nice piece of jewelry, or even better, a voucher to spend at a craft store :O).
In fact, call us ungrateful, but both my daughters and I are all of the same opinion that we would go mental if someone spent that much on a bunch of flowers for us.
At least the weather has been bright, if a little chilly. Not like 38 years ago when I spent the afternoon, in labour, crammed in the back of a very small car driving through a blizzard to get to the hospital in Greenwich. Jenni took a while to appear, by which time there was no public transport, so her Dad spent the night in a side room sleeping on two chairs that the nurses had pushed together for him. I can't see that happening now. Health and safety and all that lol.
I don't send Valentines cards, so here is the next best thing, a Wedding card for a friend who finally got to tie the knot last week.
The floral heart stamp which was designed by Jane Gill has been stamped and embossed in gold and then painted with Watercolour Pearlex to give it a beautiful shimmer.
I tapped the edges of the cream card with a Versamark ink pad and then added gold embossing powder before layering the panel onto some blue background paper.
I hope that you get to enjoy the rest of your evening, what ever you may be up to.
Happy Crafting and Hugs from me.

Add some Texture for the challenge at CCM

Afternoon All,
We have a wonderful new challenge over at CCM today, where Maike our host is asking you to Add Some Texture. That can be either embossing, heat or dry, texture paste, fabric, anything you like.
As I became a Great Auntie for the second time last week I decided to make a baby card to send to my niece and family.
I have used an embossing folder to create the textured background to my card.
It was coloured using a combination of Starlights, Sparkle Medium and Gilding Waxes all from Imagination Craft.
This has all helped to highlight the texture of the folder. I also sanded the edge of the card which added even more texture.
The cute image is a LOTV topper which I fussy cut and layered onto a diecut and embossed oval.
The flowers and leaves were diecut from white card and then coloured using the same Imagination products. In fact all I did was spritz the sponge that I had used for the background with some water which created a nice pale, but matching colour on the diecuts.
The panel across the card was created using a border punch, some ribbon and tiny gems.
The sentiment is from a wonderfully useful set by Altenew Baby Zoo.stamped onto a die cut banner.
Of course I had to make a card for my Sister and her Hubby to congratulate them on the birth of their latest Grandchild.
More textured background, and die cut sentiment,
along with another LOTV topper.
I hope that you will join us HERE this time, and that you will pop over and show the rest of the DT some love they have created some wonderful projects to inspire you.
Have a great evening. Happy Crafting and hugs

I'm Back With Love

Evening Everyone,
I'm back. Have you missed me?
I'm sorry I have been MIA lately but the bloody Internet has been out of action, in my house at least.
That will teach us to vacuum. We must have been a little too vigorous and dislodged a couple of wires in the connection. Fortunately we were able to track down the problem ourselves before getting an engineer involved, but it has taken quite a while to fix.
And there I was being so good with my daily blog posts as well, so I will have to try and get back in to the swing of it all again.
One of the numerous things I have missed  over the last few weeks was the last challenge over at CCM where Lin  was looking for Love, Love, Love.
Many years ago I was lucky enough to have a project published in a (then) new magazine Card Making and Papercraft. I was tasked with making a card, box and gift tag and although I have long since given the card to someone I was left with the box and tag.
I did a little bit of upcycling for the these cards by cutting up the box (this is part of the lid)
 and remounting the gift tag.
Of course I stupidly forgot to take a picture of the box and tag before I started to cut them up so you will just have to use your imagination I'm afraid.
These last cards were all made using the panels that I placed around the lid of the box.
The stamped images are all part of a wonderful old Magenta stamp which was embossed onto red card stock.
The hearts and flowers have been painted with thin undiluted bleach and the gold hearts along the centre of the card are from a piece of embossed gold card.
Lets hope that the Internet is kind to me and I can get back to my regular posts.
Have a good evening.
